As the group finished their meal, Ivan hurriedly went to the counter to pay the bill since his sister, Ziana, had left her phone at the party. Damien followed him, while Zayden remained seated, observing the two men bicker over who should pay.
"Go pay the bill," Ziana declared, taking a sip of her tea. She knew Zayden was the wealthiest among them, and he had thoroughly enjoyed the special dish they had ordered, so it only made sense for him to cover the cost. "Since only we ate it, it's fair for us to pay, not Damien."
"Why should I?" Zayden questioned, crossing his arms defiantly as Damien shoved Ivan's phone into his hand and passed his card to the cashier.
"He's your close friend, isn't he?" Zayden continued, fixing his intense gaze on Damien's back. "Your friend is my friend too, and it's perfectly fine for friends to share expenses."
"Wait, why would my friend automatically become yours?" Ziana retorted, raising an eyebrow at Zayden's audacity.
