"I might look drunk, Your Highness," she gulped. "But I'm not. This is my first and last warning to you. If you don't stay away from me, I will surely destroy you and your people." "Are you sure?" His gray eye interlocked into hers. Hazel rolled her eyes and held the hem of her dress so that she wouldn't trip. She could barely see now, especially with the aid of that terrible headache raking her skull. However, just a slight error and she wobbled all over him. His grip was held tightly to her waist but she pushed him away from her as she said, "Husband, you mistake lust for love. This is a warning, you will regret this." "Wife, there is a lot you need to learn from me. Like knowing how to tell a lie. Nevertheless, I shall give you another two weeks to take an act of revenge on me, if you don't succeed, I won't hesitate to make you mine even against your wish. If you do succeed, I am happy to die in your hands." He continued, whispering along her earlobe since he knew she would be unaware of what they had discussed the next morning, "It is like killing two birds with a stone, I will be able to fulfill my promise about keeping you away from evils. You would be able to protect yourself against me." As he said those words, he clenched his jaw. "It's funny how I am the evil you need to hide from, the one who has and will hurt you the most." *** HAZEL COLESHILL, a 22-year-old vampiress who had a very terrifying past with a werewolf, pledged to protect her clan by sacrificing herself to the werewolves as part of a truce. The war between the werewolves and vampires seems to be neverending, will these two people end the war between the two creatures, or create a tougher war? EXCERPT 2 "How does it happen?" "Possessing your shadow in the walls is really helpful. Shadows are meant to be the most vigorous reflections. They attack your enemy if you can control them and then hide back in the walls. They break walls and are extremely powerful." Hazel sighed softly before she said, "Let's go back to the last one. Possessing beings just by staring at them in the eyes." "Have you heard about the rule majorly known among humans?" "What rule?" "The rule about," she raised her two index fingers up and then curled them, signaling a quote. "The rule about not looking into a vampire's eyes?" Hazel shook her head. "The rule about vampires possessing humans when the humans stare at them is as old as the mountains, however, it can also be said to be a superstition but it is not a superstition for some special ones among us." Fannie looked at Hazel intently before saying, "Someone like you, Lady Coleshill. You have the ability to possess beings just by staring at them Warning: Mature Content, Sexual Content and Heavy Fantasy.
Micah was suddenly annoyed with her, "Hazel, you are spurting out the jargon. You bleeding can't do that. They are monsters. They have mates, you can't persuade any of them to believe even you. No, to like you. I am not going to let you use yourself. Do you know how possessive the female mates are? They might plunge your heart before you even know what."
Micah had long drawn his hands off Hazel's mother but this time, Hazel took his hand, "You know that...I... I am not weak."
Micah removed his hands from hers and then said, "You are not weak? Should I let you know yourself? You are the weakest vampiress I have ever known. Yes, you are very weak and you giving yourself to them when we can still choose another plan is something I would never accept. Yes, understand that."
Hazel was hurt by that, a tear dropped down to her cheek and she immediately rubbed it off. Scared that Micah might see it and call her weak. She had started to believe that she was weak. She had never fought against anyone before, they had never let her practice martial skills, how then wasn't she weak?
Micah rose.
Hazel's mother asked, "Where are you going to?"
"To the king. I have to tell him that we can not use Hazel. She is the one I would marry, I can't let the Werewolves turn me into a widower when I am not even married."
"Sit, Micah. Please. You need to believe that she can."
"Mother?" He looked at the weak vampiress, "You think your daughter is strong? I know her since childhood. I know all that she can do. I know her weakness and her strength and definitely, her strength does not even..."
"You...you are going to make her sad even before she starts the mission."
"Oh..." Micah said, he looked at her again. "I am sure going to make her a thousand sad if that is all that would stop her from sacrificing herself. Stop saying this is a mission. The witch Queen said she was to sacrifice herself. Doesn't that means she might die?"
"I...I am not going to die, Micah." Hazel said slowly. By now, her face was totally soaked with tears as she looked up at her childhood friend who she would get married to in the future. Well, the future was so near. They were grown-ups. "Trust me, I am not going to die, else I overcome the werewolves."
Micah was taken aback by her tears but then, but he did not let that stop him. "Hazel, you are sure that you are not going to die? You are sure that they would not frighten you even when a mere human always frightens you?" He paused and looked around. He saw a pot and a cup and poured the content into the cup before walking back to her. He sat down beside her, he was very close to her that Hazel felt her heart start beating out loud.
He rubbed off her tears while holding the cup close to her mouth. "Drink this and prove that you aren't weak, Hazel. Please prove that to me and I will let you go, please, Hazel." He talked, his voice was shaky.
The cup was so close to her lip that Hazel immediately pulled herself away from him. She sobbed, "That...that is...that is human blood. I... can't drink human blood, Micah. Please." She looked totally scared.
The image of that werewolf came to her. That werewolf boy who tore the human boy. He...tore him while drinking his blood. He ate his flesh, his intestines and all.
She did not want to be as vile as the Werewolves and Vampires. She was one but then, that image feared the hell out of her.
"It is brought, Hazel. I know I suck the blood off them, Hazel but this is different. This blood is brought. It is not illegal. The humans offer their blood for something else. Drink this....drink it, Hazel. Prove to me that you aren't weak."
As Micah continued to put the cup near her mouth, she became terribly scared and before she knew it, she tossed the cup away from his hand and the blood splashed on his body and face instead.
Seeing this, Micah squeezed the cup that had only a little amount of blood and drank it. Immediately he was done, he threw the cup away and Hazel slowly watched as the cup broke into pieces. Scared about everything that he was doing now. He looked like he was already insane. "Mother, do you see her?"
"Micah...there is always a way."
"Mother, I know. I know all this. Why do you support her when we know the truth? She can't survive without blood. She definitely can't."
"Micah..." Hazel's mother wanted to shut him up but Hazel interrupted. "I..."
Hazel didn't understand what he was saying. She was not getting it right. Though she was a vampiress, she had survived all these years without blood.
Why does it seem that Micah did not want to believe her at all? "I...I can live without blood, Micah. I have only tasted it once and it was five years ago. I survived without drinking anything as red as that. Believe me."
Micah was pushed to the extreme. "Believe you? Do you think any vampire can survive without blood for even a day? No!"
"Micah..."
"No mother, I am tired of keeping all these away from her. She is...she is supposed to know what this is. The harsh reality would make her know that she is weak." He faced her, "Hazel... What do you think all those yellow liquids you drink every morning, afternoon, and night, are?"
Hazel looked at him, trying to understand what was happening. She did not understand why her mother seemed to be keeping Micah from not speaking at all. "What are you saying, Micah?"
"You want to know?" He looked at her, shocked. His forehead had speckles of sweat on it. "Do you want to know how stressful it was to extract the red colour from the blood and add all those colourings and sweets to make you think it wasn't blooded?"
Hazel did not know when she stood up. "What...what do you mean?"
"Hazel...you have been drinking blood in your entire life. You have. That is who we are, we feed off humans' blood. We can't stop it. That is our food." He paused,
"The only problem is that... the yellow blood you have been drinking has little nutrients compared to the red blood. You need more nutrients to gain energy. You need to drink the real blood and stop the whole clan from exhausting money on extraction and discolouration."
