Why Did You Come Here?

The world turned into chaos.

That was what I saw when I woke up in the dead of the night to the screams of both vampires and humans.

From the ground was the roots that shot out from the ground before diving back in. The sky was nothing but the leaves of ancient trees that should've taken centuries to grow.

"I told you the world was ending!" I heard someone scream amongst the revving of car engines. I frowned, I wouldn't say the world was ending. Afterall, the 'world' would still be here, 'Earth' would still be here. It was simply that the 'world' as you knew it was ending.

Now, the end of the human race wasn't ending either. It was simply that something else would be on the top of the food chain, in place of where the humans used to be.

The jail cell I was in was completely obliterated, the wall cracking under the pressure of the roots that shot through them. I was lucky that I wasn't squished under the rubble like other people have. Lives are truly fragile, if only mines was like that.

I dusted myself as I stood up, only to realize how stupid that action was. It was not even a question of whether or not traversing through this chaotic world would end up with me being even dustier than before.

Navigating through the nearly deserted streets, filled with the screams of vampires, I paused. The screams were disappearing. In fact, why would people be screaming when there's nothing chasing after them. The trees and the roots appear too quickly for someone to scream in fear, and it is natural for one to be paralyzed in fear.

And the vampires, why were they still screaming? Why were they still here? In an outbreak like this, the binding would no doubt break and they would be free to traverse the world.

So why were they screaming?

I looked around the area, with the trees and roots climbing over the homey shops. All empty if I'm not wrong. Light was still able to reach the concrete floor, though I doubt it would last long.

My heart lurched right into my throat when I heard an extremely familiar scream. I remembered.

When you've lived as long as I have, there are bound to be a few things that you forget. When I was human, I had fallen in love once.

Then he died, in an attempt to take the position as Alpha in a pack that stood a cut above the rest. He didn't have a chance.

I remember his name, his name was August.

"August!" I screamed out in panic, immediately running towards the scream. To be with your loved one forever, how strong does the love need to be?

I passed multitudes of bodies, all scattered with a gaping hole in the middle of their chest, where their heart was supposed to be.

Waiting for centuries just to be with her, how deep is your loyalty?

It was already too late by the time I arrived. The forest had already sucked the life out of him. I crouched down beside him, tears falling from my eyes as a sad smile appeared on my lips.

"Why did you have to come?" I asked him, even knowing that an answer would never arrive.

As the last scream sounded out in the distance, the last vampire died.

A shadow behind my back and a knife in my chest.

"If you won't love me then you'll never love," the man said, eyes as cold as the midnight sky.

"You finally found the courage, did't you?" I whispered.

Reid stared at the dying girl, her hands grasping a brown haired man. His heart aching and his eyes stringing.

In the end she loved, loved someone other than him. If he had found the courage sooner, would this have happened? As a Keeper, you can only die by the hands of a vampyr. The last pure blooded vampyr.

Sorry for taking so long, my family took a vacation to Osaka and I left the charger.

aaaaaaaaaand, are any of you confused with the ending? If so, I'm sorry because yes, I did just make it up as I go.

AAAAAALLLLLLLLSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

If you were able to read this far, check out the new book I Smile.

Similar concept but more realistic and maybe better quality? Hopefully.
