Mournful

After getting my daily smoothie from the cafeteria, I headed straight to my classroom. However, what greeted me wasn't an empty one, but one that seemed to be occupied by someone.

"Do you have a request?" I asked him standing at the doorway.

"Ms. Keith?" he asked, turning around seeming to have expected me. His brown hair feel halfway to his ears, slightly covering the corners of his eyes. He wore the glasses and lab coat that was required of the teachers. I suppose it was a way to tell the difference between the students and teachers as many teachers looked young enough to be a student.

"That is me, do you have any questions?"

"No! Not at all!" he said, his eyes curving up every so slightly as he smiled. What an odd person, smiling when there's nothing to smile about. Though I suppose it would be a nice feeling.

"I'm simply here to teach the midnight class," he explained in a soothing, warm voice.

"I see," I responded. When the Dean said that he was going to take care of my afternoon class, I suppose he really meant it to the fullest extent. He must be expecting to need my help in the future if he were to have a permanent substitute for my midnight class. Though, the artificial light sometimes makes one forget that it is a night school.

I turned around, sipping on the milkshake and started to walk away. I suppose I can go home for now, though I should suppose I could go to the Dean's office as would most likely want to talk to me about this arrangement. As a person from olden times, he rarely texts unless he truly has to.

"Ah, the Dean wants to talk to you!" he called out from behind me.

"Is that so?" I rhetorically asked.

Rumors, although often exaggerated, often held a bit of truth. Even though how much truth is held within a rumor varies, it is often not without a small bit of substance.

From the moment the Dean contacted me in a hurry, I have been hearing rumors of who I was subbing for.

Although many simply called her by her title, Keeper, those same people compared her to an ice queen. A person with a heart of ice, they say. Like a glacier, unmoving, unfeeling.

That part of the rumors were true, however there were also rumors that she sold her soul in order to gain the immortality she does now, and so comes the fact that she is unfeeling.

Whether or not that is true, only Death knows. Along with that rumor, comes that rumor that she was a snob and selfish to the boot.

For now I shall reserve my judgement as to what kind of person she is. Though, from my short encounter with her, she doesn't seem to be that type of person.

As unfeeling as she is....I think she's simply mournful.
