<Chapter.05>

From the surface whom seemingly bathing underneath the warmth sun, through the limitless abyss of darkness. Kalix continued to wander off the streets, day and night.

Fighting his hunger, and going into starvation. A thought of giving up never crossed his mind. Never, and never will.

No matter how long it'll take, he was already determined to have the resolve to keep going even if it means his own death.

It's been 4 days since he last ate a food, furthermore the one from the trashcan he took.

His belly has been continually groaning loudly, but there's nothing he can do about it. He didn't have a single penny left after all.

As Kalix continued to wander randomly around the streets, groaning in hunger. He suddenly stumbled upon a 3 story building, with a banner written—[Adventurers' Guide.]

Fortunately, after seeing it once, he immediately recalled something in his memories.

A few days ago, while wandering around the street corner, he had stopped to watched into the windowed-glass screen, which had a television of a news articles, playing on it.

Into his curiosity, he coincidentally stumbled across at the part where the television was playing the information about the 'Adventurer's Guide' he had seen today, with his two eyes.

According to the intel he had seen. Adventurer's Guide was a guild established to gather awakeners who had their powers awakened during the birth of the monster.

Although he's not a awakener, he had no choice but to try his luck. After the birth of monsters, part times, and construction jobs supposedly payment decreased rather harsh. At most, if one were to work for an entire day, it'll only be enough to fill their bellies for a whole day, nothing more.

If only Kalix father wasn't bedridden, he wouldn't have a thought of trying his luck into this big wall in front of him. But to the God of Misfortune luck, he had no choice but to, unless he really could afford to let his father die from his illness.

*SFX for sighing like a furnace*

Kalix let out a long sigh from his mouth, before entering the building.

***

Kalix walked inside the building, and saw the place crowded.

After entering inside, the whole scenario in the building unfolding before his eyes were quite new to him. Unlike in the past, where he would see without a doubt, a countless of workers like a machine wearing a serious, and tired expressions in their groaning faces. He was quite taken aback to see, a new figure which taken a big change after the apocalypse occurred.

Instead what he had seen is still countless of tired, and serious expressions of workers he was used to see before the apocalypse. But, in his surprise. Countless of awakeners wearing weird clothes and armors, just like in games, were celebrating their victory, and groaning in their defeats.

Even though it's been a while since the birth of monsters occurred, he's still couldn't fit in to the new changes of the world.

After gathering a resolve to continued on, Kalix started walking. His destination, the elevator which within his sight.

Along the way, he had walked over a lots of strangers with a despair, lurking in their faces. But since it had nothing to do with him, he immediately averted his gaze towards them, and could only wondered what happened to them, in his mind.

Kalix didn't wasted any seconds, and after arriving in front of the elevator, he patiently awaited for the elevator to arrived, and open.

*SFX for a clock, continued tickling*

Tic, tock, tic, tock.

Even though it only been a few minutes, since he arrived at his recent spot, he continued hearing a clock tickling within his ears, as if he was in a hurry.

And a few more seconds had passed, the elevator suddenly arrived in front of him, and opened widely.

Just as he was about to walk inside the elevator, his eyes widened in shock.

Sandra who he hasn't even made a contact with him since the apocalypse occurred, was inside the elevator room, wearing a fancy clothes, armor. And to his surprise, there seemed to be a two short katana which dyed in black, hanging in her waist, left and right.

She…. She became an awakener?! Although Kalix already guessed it coming, he still couldn't stop his expression becoming shock, after seeing it, with his two eyes in reality.
