Family Meeting

Xavier stood in the middle of the living room, his arms outstretched, as if trying to hold his family physically together. His wife, Summer, and his sister, Cherish, stood on opposite sides of the room, feeling sorry for each other. They knew Xavier was about to punish them.

About what happened yesterday, he turned to Summer, "I won't blame you for trying to protect Cherish, but I blame you for leaving the house. Since when did both of you start shopping for groceries" He yelled." Summer you are my wife, and should be the one advising Cherish to stay out of trouble, instead you are the one getting into trouble." Xavier said.

"But I…." Summer said, trying to defend herself before she was interrupted by Xavier. "Shut the fuck up, am still talking", he yelled. "Cherish you are grounded, no TV shows, no phone for a week, now go back to your room, I need to talk to Summer," Xavier said in anger. Cherish went to her room in tears, Xavier has never been too strict with her, but today he punished her without mercy.

"Summer, why are you making things difficult for me?" he yelled. "I shouldn't have agreed to this marriage," he said, regretting. "Am sorry Xavier, I didn't mean to cause trouble like I said earlier, I was only trying to protect Cherish," She said pleading. Xavier looked at her, but he couldn't figure out if she was truly sorry or just trying to fool him, whichever way he needed to punish her." Summer you are grounded for 2 weeks, you are not allowed to leave this house and don't even think about climbing out through the fence again, If you dare defy my orders again, you will be very surprised at my next action," he said and then went to his room.

Summer sat down feeling sad," I know am wrong, but the punishment is too harsh, I was only endeavoring to protect Cherish ", she said. She had just been grounded by her husband, Xavier, for two weeks, and she was feeling a mix of emotions. She knew that she had messed up and that she deserved the punishment, but that didn't make it any easier to deal with.

She sighed, went to her room and lay back on the bed, staring up at the ceiling. She couldn't help feeling sorry for herself. Two weeks was a long time to be stuck at home, especially when she was used to being so active and social. She decided to call her best friend Anita… After a few rings!! She answered, "Hi Summer, how are you doing? Anita asked. " Am not okay," Summer said, crying. "What is it, sweetheart, did Xavier hurt you?" Anita asked. "Am grounded for two weeks ", Summer said." "Am so sorry sweetheart, but I will be honest with you, I don't blame Xavier for punishing you, but the punishment is a little too harsh," Anita explained." I know, Anita, and I don't blame him too", Summer said. "It's okay baby girl, why don't you show him that you are truly sorry, he might understand and forgive you," Anita advised. "Okay, I will take your suggestion," Summer said, wiping her tears. "Thank you so much Anita I feel better now", "You are welcome my love", Anita said, then kissed her over the phone and ended the call.
