Inheritance (Part-1)

Mark opened the door to the matron's office, it was a small room claimed at the end of the first-floor hallway. There were a lot of documents lying on the desk with two chairs placed on the other end, one of which was occupied by an older witch. Prof. McGonagall was wearing a green dress of sorts that Mark for the life of him couldn't recognize.

'Maybe something popular in the late 1980s...' As he stared into the bright blue eyes of Prof. McGonagall, Mrs. Henderson interrupted him, "Mark, this is Prof. McGonagall, she is a teacher at Hogwarts?" she looked questioningly at Prof. McGonagall which she took as her queue to start speaking.

"Yes," her reply was firm as she scanned Mark, especially his face as if looking at some answers, Mark felt uncomfortable at her staring so she composed herself and started, "Hogwarts is a very exclusive school that only takes already selected students, most of our students are legacies as is Mr.Black here," Mark's eyes widened at the name, while both the professor and matron assumed it was an expected reaction to finally knowing your full name, Mark was going through every instance, trying to figure out how that is possible.

'There is no way this is canon, there should be no Black other than the sisters and Sirius left alive. Who could be Mark's parent, certainly not Andy, not Narcissa either, and certainly not Sirius, he would have been taken better care of if that was the case. That leaves, Bellatrix and Regulus, I certainly hope it wasn't Bellatrix otherwise it just got a lot more complicated than possible. Is this part of the game's story mode? It certainly is an interesting theme and plot, how much can I influence the story? Till now all my decisions are my own, do I really have infinite freedom in the Wizarding world.'

"...Mr. Black?" Prof. McGonagall's stern voice broke through mark's thoughts as he hurriedly replied, "Sorry, Professor, just call me Mark, being called Mr. Black seems a little strange." Mark gave an uneasy smile to which Prof. McGonagall nodded, "...certainly, as I was saying, Mark was already enrolled to Hogwarts the minute he was born, we just had to spend a lot of time to find him because of some managemental failure's. Mark would not need to return to St. Rose as he would soon be getting a new guardian till he comes of age and can take over his family's estate..."

"Wait, wait hold on..." Mrs. Henderson stood up in alarm at the sudden change in conversation, "Is Mark getting adopted or is he getting into a school, what is going on here? Which agency will be handling his adoption? Do you have any documents regarding the issue?" she rapid fired several questions but stopped when Prof. McGonagall pulled some papers out of her purse and handed it to her. Mark saw her eyes glaze over as her expression slacked for a moment before a frown returned on her face.

Prof. McGonagall glanced sideways at Mark to see if he saw anything but Mark quickly shifted her attention from her face to the papers looking like he wanted to know what was written on them.

"This seems okay?" Mrs. Henderson had an uneasy expression before she looked at Mark and nodded saying, "Mark, go pack up some of your clothes, Prof. McGonagall is in charge of getting you to the agency that will handle your adoption." Mark nodded as he slowly backed away and out of the room. His mind still swimming with questions.

'Right, as I should be a Pureblood, there should be a will regarding my placement if both my parents died, maybe a godmother or godfather? If not then as a pureblood heir to the Black family I certainly would not be allowed to live in a muggle orphanage. I still need to figure out how much is this world different than canon, and Sirius should be in Azkaban, so that should make me the Black heir, not Draco, then that opens another can of worms...'

---------30 minutes later--------

"Goodbye Mrs. Henderson, thank you for everything!" Mark waved his hand towards the old matron who had a sad smile on her face.

"Come along Mark, I have a place reserved where we can talk more extensively, there are a few things you should know before we go to the... hmm... Agency" she almost slipped on the last word before she corrected herself and tugged Mark towards a nearby motel where both of them easily passed the receptionist and sat down in a small motel room. Mark sat down on the springy bed while Prof. McGonagall pulled out a chair and sat opposite to him, her back straight.

Her blue eyes regarded Mark for a second before she started speaking, "Magic is real" her blunt statement drew a wide eye from Mark who expected this conversation to start in a gentle manner, she pulled her wand out from her sleeve and waved it at the nearby table which transformed into a small cat that looked at the two other people present in the room than lazily closed her eyes.

'Damn that looks sooooo sick, these graphics are insane!' Mark had an amazed expression on his face and Prof. McGonagall gave another swish of her wand turning the cat back to the desk regaining Mark's attention, "As I said, Magic is real, we, wizards and witches, are a hidden society of people that have lived in secrecy for centuries, you are a wizard Mark and that's why I came here today, has anything strange happened around you ever?" she asked and Mark had to quickly make a story up because no memories ever came up when she asked that question, "Ummm, I changed the hair color of David one time?" he asked hesitantly hoping the lie would work.

"Yes accidental magic, commonly seen in young wizards and witches as magic responds to their will, it is a very unreliable way to use magic but it is one. It could be dangerous as the results are uncontrollable and chaotic that's why young witches and wizards go to various schools across the world to learn, control and use magic so that accidents didn't happen."

Mark merely nodded, as the introduction was getting a bit boring now, he already was familiar with accidental magic.

'Maybe if I focus enough I could get a skill for accidental magic and then I could level it up to make it more reliable?' the thought floated in his mind for a second before he dismissed it to experiment later, and focused on Prof. McGonagall, "...ducation consists of 7 years and you would go to your first year starting September 1st. Before that, we need to visit Gringotts and get access to an inheritance test to get an accurate idea of your parents which could ease down on your guardian problem."

'Wait she doesn't know, that means the student book in Hogwarts doesn't tell them much, it's just that my surname must have caused a commotion that's why she is here trying to salvage the situation.'
