Chapter 29: rowena’s exclusive weapon, lynn’s holiday life

After showing off the short sword, Lynn said to his mother, "Mom, I am going to France with Professor Green in August, is that okay? Then I will meet my master, Nicolas Flamel."

When Rowena first heard that Lynn was going to travel with Professor Green, she refused in her heart because she didn't know if Lynn would encounter danger again. After all, it could be gleaned from Lynn's previous descriptions that the professor seemed to have many enemies.

But after learning that the purpose of Lynn's trip was to meet the great alchemist Nicolas Flamel, Rowena immediately agreed. 

That was Nicolas Flamel, a famous legendary figure!

This was definitely a great opportunity for Lynn. As Lynn's mother, Rowena naturally hoped that her son would become even better!

As for the dangers during the journey, although Rowena was a little reluctant, at this time she could only believe that Professor Green would not put his pupil in danger again. 

"You can go, but you must protect your own safety. Everything must be based on your own safety, okay? Promise me!" Rowena looked at Lynn's dark red eyes seriously and said so.

Lynn felt warmth in his heart, and he quickly reassured Rowena.

Then, Lynn said to Rowena, "Mom, in the month of July, I plan to forge a self-defense weapon for you. Do you have any weapons that you are skilled with?"

Hearing this, Rowena laughed dumbly and said, "Lynn, we wizards rely on wands to solve problems, and we don't use melee weapons at all."

Lynn said seriously, "However, wizards are no different from Muggles after losing their magic power. I have learned the method of forging the Dampening Stone from my teacher, and I can even forge a weakened version of the Dampening Staff. After magic is disabled, melee weapons are definitely a good option. Mom, you should practice more frequently!"

After arriving in the outside world, Lynn became increasingly unwilling to let his mother stay in this small Rowle Manor all year round. 

He hoped that his mother could come to the outside world and see the changes over the years, but he did not want his mother to be in danger.

Seeing Lynn's serious attitude, Rowena had no choice but to nod her head and express her agreement.

Lynn locked himself in the study again, inscribing alchemy arrays day after day, forging a weapon unique to Rowena.

During this period, Lynn's meals were all delivered to his room by the house-elf Gale. Gale even minimized the sound of apparition, so as not to affect Lynn's alchemy work.

A week later, Lynn finally emerged from the study. 

He held a purple-black dagger in his hand, delicate and small, adorned with alchemy runes.

"Mom, this dagger is the weapon I've chosen for you!" Lynn handed the purple-black dagger to Rowena with a smile.

Compared to melee weapons like short swords, the biggest advantage of daggers is stealth. During battle, no one can expect you to suddenly pull out a dagger from your robes. 

Moreover, due to physiological differences, a woman's muscle training often takes longer to yield results than a man's, so heavy two-handed swords and swift short swords might not be suitable for Rowena, unlike the dagger—small, light, and elegant. Lynn's purple-black dagger, with several enchantments, made it even deadlier.

"I've inscribed a total of six different alchemy arrays on this dagger. In addition to the 'enhancement' array, the properties of these four connected arrays are 'sharpness,' 'piercing,' 'venom resistance,' and 'concealment.' The 'venom resistance' property is temporarily inactive as it hasn't absorbed any poisons yet, while the 'concealment' property makes the dagger and your attacks difficult for the enemy to detect."

"The two arrays connected in parallel have 'strength' and 'dexterity' properties respectively, consistent with my short sword. You can choose one to activate during battle. These two golden charms serve as power sources. When you channel your magic into them, they'll automatically absorb it, unaffected by the Dampening Stone!"

Lynn introduced the purple-black dagger like a prized treasure. 

Rowena listened with a smile, her inner pride beyond words.

Behold, here was her son, a master of alchemy!

Rowena looked at Lynn lovingly, solemnly putting the dagger into her pocket and touching Lynn's head.

"You've been at it continuously for a week, please take a rest," Rowena said. 

Lynn shook his head, "Not yet, mother. I'll also forge a weakened version of the Dampening Staff for you."

Lynn didn't intend to relax. He immediately returned to the room, engaging in intense and exciting work.

Another three days passed, and Lynn emerged again.

The forging of the Dampening Staff this time was much easier than the purple-black dagger, mainly relying on the Dampening Stone refined by the legal alchemy method as the original core, and adorned with the alchemy array chain of the Dampening System.

Before the holiday, Professor Green had already given Lynn a dozen Dampening Stones as prototypes for the Dampening Staff. It wasn't difficult for Lynn to inscribe the arrays.

However, due to the varying levels of alchemy skills, Lynn's Dampening Staff was slightly inferior to the one forged by Professor Green in terms of power. Nonetheless, it could still effectively disable the magic of dark wizards like the one on Halloween night. 

After handing the Dampening Staff to Rowena, Lynn finally relaxed.

Lynn wasn't someone who didn't know how to balance work and rest, but he prioritized his family's safety. Seeing that the agreed time with Professor Green was approaching in just over two weeks, Lynn knew he had to fully recuperate. He understood that the sightseeing aspect of his trip was only a small part; once at Nicolas Flamel's residence, the knowledge of alchemy about to be imparted to him would be substantial!

So, for more than two weeks in late July, Lynn spent time watching the telly with his mother Rowena, watering the flowers, and tending to the abandoned gardens of Rowle Manor with the house-elf Gale.

However, Lynn doing the same chores as Gale, as the owner of the manor, made Gale feel panicked for a while. He thought he might have done something wrong to upset Lynn.
