Wyvern
Charlotte leaned forward, and was looking at the eggs in the pool, they had caught her full attention, so much so that she was no longer looking at the entrance.
soon she saw that two tadpoles emerged from the eggs, one of them was brown while the other was black.
they were the size of carps and were swimming around the egg that was glowing red.
Charlotte looked closer and found that the tadpoles had forked tongue like that of a snake, and their skin was that of shining scales, if she did not know what a tadpole was she may have took them for odd looking river serpents (similar to sea serpents only that they live in the river instead of the sea).
Charlotte forced herself onto her belly and began to crawl to the pool.
as she arrived at the pool she then stretched her left arm down towards the pool while using her other hand to keep her from falling.
but only her finger tip could have reached the water, but then she felt something smooth at her fingertips, she looked down to see she was touching the head of the black tadpole, it's big black beaded eyes looked up at her.
she blushed as she looked at the cute creature, it then began to rub its head on her fingertip before it dived back into the water.
Charlotte watched as it went back to circling the egg with the other toad, she then sat upright as she looked down at the two monsters.
but then suddenly cracks appeared on the egg as it was enveloped in blinding light which forced her to place her hand over her eyes as the light enveloped the entire cavern.
"CHARLOTTE!!"
she heard her name at the entrance of the cavern but she could not have opened her eyes because of the blinding light.
it suddenly dissipated, but before she could remove her hand from her eyes she was lifted off the ground, she opened her eyes to find nic who was holding her as if she was a baby, he did not pay any attention to her and was busy looking into the pool, nic face showed that of shock and confusion as he looked at the three monsters that were inside the pool.
he seen the two tadpoles that were circling a monster that had two horns on its head and its body was covered in scales, its was metalic black in color, and it had wings and two hind legs, he did not even pay no attention to the tadpoles as the monster they were circling had his full attention.
nic was one that was knowledgeable in stories, as in the bag that he carried their were books that his mother had left for him along with other things.
"A Wyvern?" nic mumbled as he looked at the monster that was curled up in the center of the pool, it looked as though it was sleeping, it was only as big as a puppy, trails of bubbles can be seen leaving its nose as it looked as though it was a harmless little creature.
"I thought they were all dead" nic was deep in thought, even though wyverns were extremely strong, they could not compete with the strength of a dragon and due to competition and the fierce feud between the two monsters it eventually lead to the end of the wyverns, a creature that once ruled the air and land was nothing compared to the powerful dragons.
nic suddenly felt a hand touching the side of his face, he looked down to see that Charlotte was looking at him smiling, her eyes looked as though she was holding back tears.
"it's alright I would not abandon you" nic replied with a smile back at the little girl, he was already close to the entrance of the cavern when he had seen the blinding light, afraid that something may have happened to Charlotte he let go of mion and the corpse of the croc and ran to her immediately.
hearing these words tears ran out of her eyes, she used her hand to cover her eyes as she bite the lower part of her lip, tear drops can be seen dropping at nic feet as she made sobbing sounds.
nic sat down with her in his arms, he comforted the little girl, he known that she was worried but she was also scared that nic had ran away and left her.
after awhile she suddenly calmed down and was sound asleep, nic placed her on the ground besides the cavern wall, he found that other than light that the little crystals also gave off some warmth.
she was sound asleep, nic looked at the little girl and was deep in his thoughts as he was trying to figure out a way to make her life more easier.
"everything takes time" he said as he smiled at the little girl and walked to the entrance of the cavern.
awhile later nice can be seen dragging mion and the corpse of the monster into the cavern, he then placed mion close to the cavern wall, and did not pay no more attention to him.
he knew that mion would not die from such injuries and even if he died it would not really be his fault as he had done what he could to help, he was not a doctor or neither did he know anything about how to threat someone's injuries, all he can do is hope for the best.
he then took up phyora, as he held phyora it started to vibrate rapidly, it was even worse than before, it had sensed the amount of monster cores nic had and it wanted them.
"ENOUGH!" nic shouted as he slammed the blade on the ground, "I would give you one but only if you stop"
the sword instantly stopped vibrating, this sword was not normal at all, it was as though it had a mind of it's own.
nic grabbed the hilt of the sword, he took out a stone out of his pocket and thrown it onto the floor, he then pierced the stone with his sword as he watch it merged with the sword.
"Hmm S-15, so everytime you merge with a monster core you go up by one" nic mumbled as he looked at the sword that he held in his hand.
nic waved around the blade but he felt no difference, the only way to find out if it is stronger is by giving it a sacrifice.
he then looked at the three monsters in the pool as the thought of sacrificing one of them came in his mind, but he had a change of heart when he saw the two tadpoles playing and the wyvern fast asleep, they looked like gentle creatures.
"well I guess it's my turn then" he said as he took out all the remaining stones and held one of them in his hand, he had put phyora a good distance away incase it wanted to try and take one of the stones by vibrating towards it.
nic then closed his eyes.
