Chapter 4

The next day, I was allowed to leave the hospital. When I got home mom yelled and scolded me. She gave me a big hug afterwards though. We ate lunch at a fancy resturant. Mom and dad were basically celebrating my return. They even gave me some cake too. After lunch, I headed to my karate classes. Blaze, Elias, Kate and Zane were waiting there.

"Yo, Azu! Over here!"

Kate called out. They were outside the school on the sidewalk. I ran over waving my hand. We all went inside and watched the rest of the class before us. Once our class started, we were separated because of different rankings. When we were done, we hung out in the back room.

"Jeez, did you see how Sara was kicking? It was so bad. She was in my group this time." Kate said.

"God, I have to agree."

"Elias, Kate, we don't need to call people out, do we?"

"Oh come on Blaze, they're just speaking truth."

"Did you also see how she was kicking? Honestly Azu, Kate and Elias will call anybody out if it's a good opportunity."

"Oh well. That's just them."

"I geuss so. Whatever."

"Now the question is what would Zane do."

"He wouldn't say anything."

"That seems like him."

"Hey guys, Kate and I need to go."

"Oki doki. Bye Kate and Elias."

"Bye guys. Azu, Zane you guys wanna walk home together."

"Yea, Totally!"

"...Sure I guess. Just so Azu doesn't get attacked again."

"Awww. Your so sweet Zaney-boy."

"Shut up."

Blaze, Zane and I started on our walk. It was dark and almost all the lights in the small town were out. We could see the stars that were out in the sky. The yellow-corned moon was beautiful in dark sky.

"Wait a tic. Is the moon blue or am I hallucinating?"

"A blue moon? Azu I think you've gone crazy."

Blaze looked up at the moon.

"Holy shmokes! It is blue! What the heck!"

"Um sorry guys, I have to actually go home alone now. BYE."

"...Well that was weird. Wasn't it Zane?"

Zane was more than fifteen feet ahead of Blaze.

"Later."

"....Great. I'm all alone. Thanks world!"

THIRD PERSON POV*

When Azusa got home She slammed her door shut. She panted amd wheezed after running the distance from karate to her house. After all they hadn't gotten very far from the school. A white glow flashed. Azusa's ears and tails didn't show. When she tried to reveal them, nothing happend.

"Great, perfect. Just peachy. Still disappears at ten o'clock every month on a full, blue moon. God I hate this."

She slid down her door and crawled to her into her bed. She threw her blanket over her. She stared at her little orange fox, Vexy. Very climbed I to her bed and curled in top of her legs. Azusa rubbed her back.

"Pft. At least your an actual animal. I lose everything every month."

Vexy lifted her head and yipped.

"Yea, I remember what happens tomorrow."

Vexy somehow made a sad face.

"Whatever. Night Vexy."

Meanwhile, at Zane's house. He was very frustrated. He was grumbling at himself and to his dog, Cheerio. Cheerio was a light brown bulldog.

"Why do you think this happens to me Cheerio? Is because I'm a half-breed? I hate it when this happens. I'm completely helpless on nights like this. Every month I loose all my powers and my ears and tail. I don't get it."

Cheerio whimpered. It was as if Zane had always understood her.

"Sorry girl. I don't understand you right now. I don't have my powers, remember?"

Zane rubbed Cheerio's head. Cheerio was the only thing that made him smile. Zane didn't like anything or anyone and he had something called Hyperacusis. That means he can hear everything around him and and the noises seem louder then they really are. That's why he would wear headphones without music.

"What's wrong with me? I can hear everything. Even your breathing. I loose my powers and I have Hyperacusis. There's seriously something wrong with me. Maybe I should go see a doctor in Deco huh?"

Cheerio barked in agreement. She wagged her tail as Zane continued petting her.

"Have I told you about Azu?"

"Ruff!"

"She's pretty sweet. She has some really nice gray eyes. And her silver, slightly wavy hair is really smooth."

"Ruff, ruff!"

"Oh what am I saying? Why would I like anyone? I don't like anyone. Not since first grade in Deco. Love is such a backstabber. Sorry Cheerio, I won't be growing feelings anymore. Besides, I have to stay home tomorrow. It'll be dangerous if normal humans are near me tomorrow. Or I can just go to the Deco arena with all the other half-breeds. I think I'll do that. I'll have to leave really early. I think I'll bring Azu too, since she's also a half-breed. You never know."

Cheerio whimpered again.

Zane pulled his covers up and went to sleep.
