The Trial

Today was the day of their trial and seemed like Kyra had something up her sleeve.

Mae came into the room to serve them food. And as usual she called them and Eros bolted out of his room. And they can't help but wonder if he is always hungry. Or maybe being locked up within the walls of the palace is stressing him out.

They ate their food and drank water. The trial will be held in the afternoon so they still had time.

Today it looked like the sky was mocking them. The sky was dark it looked like an early morning or early evening sky but it was just 8 in the morning.

"I want to go outside, and see you guys before the trial" Kyra said.

"I'll follow you" Wynstar said.

"Ok" Kyra replied and they walked out together.

They walked to the garden together and sat down on a small platform.

"How are you?" Wynstar asked talking first.

It seemed strange that her tiger was asking how she was doing. But her life was anything but normal.

"I'm fine but I'm a bit nervous about the trial" Kyra sighed

"I figured, I know you have a plan, you always do, now tell me about it" Wynstar stated.

"It's nothing serious, I just have a few things I'll say" Kra stated.

"Tell me" Wynstar urged her.

"You know about the war between humans and other creatures, right?"

"Yes, I'm aware"

"I would say that the god of fire told us that we are to get an alliance in the dark forest and that it might be a way of the gods to bring all species together in oneness and unity" Kyra said not sure of herself.

"You know why I like you?" Wynstar asked.

"No"

"You are always thinking of a solution" Wynstar said Kyra smiled getting a compliment from the tiger.

Eros and Kiara were sitting together.

"I hope Kyra is ok" Kiara sighed.

"She'll be fine" Eros assured her.

"I hope so" Kiara said and there was silence between the two.

"I like your hair" Eros said out of the blue.

Strange!!!

Kiara laughed and said "you just want me to forget about Kyra and be not worried"

"No I'm serious it's beautiful" Eros said and her cheeks tinted pink.

He saw his father's face in his memory emphasizing the older one and he pushed it away.

"Thank you" Kiara said blushing.

"You don't think it's beautiful?" Eros asked.

"I guess I don't just know and I don't really like it" Kiara replied.

How would she like the hair that made people to can get a witch

"It's fine and unique you should like it" Eros said and there was silence.

Mae came to their room after their lunch.

"It's time for the trial, follow me" Mae said and they nodded following her, even Wynstar.

They were all nervous so they didn't have time for small talks.

Even Mae was nervous for them.

No one knows that Wynstar can talk apart from the three.

They followed her through the long corridors of the palace. She lead them to the entrance of the palace and handed them over to four guards.

"Good luck" Mae said.

The guards led them through the gates of the palace. They got into a big metal carriage just outside the gates of the palace.

They moved for some time and came to stop at a large building. It had the sculpture of a scale, a sword and an eagle which signify justice, power and judgment respectively.

They got down from the carriage and got into the building. They were escorted to the front of the large building -which was filled with vampires- to an enclosed area at the front. Clayden was in another enclosed space at the front opposite them.

"May the trial begin" a handsome blonde man spoke?

"Ever since the war, no human comes into the dark forest freely. And if they do is mostly bandits but still they do not know that magical and supernatural creature exist not to talk of where we live because we have done a good job in hiding thanks to the gods. It seen as treason to bring any human to our world and it is the biggest felony. According to the Constitution of Vampires page 4, Chapter 1 Section 2 says 'if any vampire let a human in our habitat that the vampire and the human brought in would both be beheaded'. We have had no offender of this rule until recently and the offender is our crown prince, Prince Clayden. They have been placed on a trial in which we have gathered all the people in the land to have a say in this." The blonde man said.

"Thank you Asher" the King said.

"Long live King Rammir" Asher -the blonde man- said.

"We will proceed by knowing the reasons why the Prince did what he did, so Prince Clayden why did you go against the law in detail, and be honest" King Rammir said.

"My King thank you for the opportunity. I was in the forest enjoying the scene and then I saw Kyra, the red-headed one fighting off some bandits on her own and I watched in awe. I was surprised, how can a young lady fight off four hefty men on her own, I was intrigued and I stood at a distance to watch. I didn't want to interfere until they called for backup and some other group of men surrounded her and they started to beat the hell out of her still I didn't interfere until they were about to stab her. Something urged me to save her. It was like a push and within a of the eye I killed them all and no one saw me. She was shivering in fear as to what killed a dozen men within a blink of an eye. And then I decided to see who I saved and I saw she resisted showing her face until several pleadings from my side. She was scared she thought it was a strange creature. I saw it was the same girl I saw some other time in the human market, I go there sometimes and that is no crime. She started to shout at me and hit my chest and asked me why I killed her mother which I definitely didn't. I was confused then I told her to stop and that she should give me reasons why she thinks I killed her mother. And then she said the day we met at the market was the day her mother died. And that day they didn't have enough money to buy the fruits her mother sent her and her sister, Kiara the white-headed one I decided to help them pay but Kyra refused until several pleadings from her sister and urges from me. She thought I was an accomplice to the person who killed her mother, because that day when they got home they don't their mother was dead. So I told her that I am not the one and she shouldn't make such accusations next time and then she felt guilty for blaming me. Then I asked her what she was doing in the dark forest. And she explained that one of their Kings stole two most powerful gems that were gifted to them by the gods and that the priests in her land told her she was the one to retrieve the gems with the help of her sister and her tiger and she decided that they run away and they did. The gods found a way to get them back by transporting them through the belly of a whale to shore and that was when they saw the god of fire, Farrack who told them to stop running from their fate and he told them to go on a journey to the heart of the dark forest. She took me back to where her sister, her tiger, and their crown Prince, Eros. And then they told me they slept outside the other night and we all know how the mosquitoes are worst than us in blood-sucking" the Prince said and everyone laughed

"Must he narrate the whole ordeal?" Kyra thought and mentally face-palmed.

"So knowing their story I felt like we were the only ones who could help them to go on the journey" Clayden said.

The King and the other members of the Council were jotting down notes throughout Clayden's detailed explanation. But still Kyra wondered how the situation at hand concerned her dead mother.

"That Prince" Kyra hissed in her head.

"Ok do any of you humans have anything to say" King Rammir asked.

"Yes" they all said at once apart from Wynstar of course.

"Ok one after the other" the King stated and Eros took it upon himself to speak first.

Kyra didn't care about being first to speak because she was buying time to arrange her mini-speech.

"Thank you King Rammir for allowing us to speak before wonderful creatures like yourselves. My name is Eros and I am the Crown Prince of the Synderial Empire" Eros began.

"Even at a time like this he deems it important to be proud" Kyra mentally face-palmed at his introduction.

"I don't really have much to say but what Prince Clayden here said is very true your Highness. I am only here to defend us. You see if your son here told us that we will be beheaded by following him here to be honest we wouldn't have come here and if these two and their tiger here seem to like the idea of coming here I would have aborted the mission. He didn't tell us anything and I don't believe it is right that you behead any of us here except you still want to behead the Vampire Prince which I have no say in" Eros said ending his statement and Clayden turned to look at him with wide eyes.

Eros actually said they could behead Clayden if they wanted and it didn't concern him.

Clayden was slightly hurt.
