1: Prologue

Kouji Ushimura stared blankly at the wall of his prison cell. He had been tossed in there about three days prior. For what? Doing his job. Kouji was one of the top scientists working for Blight, a "secret" organization whose true goal can be theorized, but is technically unknown. Blight had some level of control in every continent of the world. Superhuman soldiers, weapons of mass destruction, technology beyond anyone's imagination: They had it all. And at the center of many of these powerful assets of war were Kouji Ushimura and his wife, Mioko. Their intellect was almost unrivaled, even among some of the higher-ups in Blight. They had developed a reliable and efficient way to give any human powers, something that would prove vital in taking over certain countries. They had created robots that could destroy a whole city in under ten seconds, easily stomping out any rebellion against Blight. They had programmed systems capable of mind-controlling thousands, even millions of people at once. Needless to say, the Ushimura duo were valuable people to have in your organization.

However, Kouji and Mioko's intelligence made them skeptical of Blight. They wanted to know what Blight's goal was in taking over the world. They found out a bit too easily.

Kouji sighed. He didn't know what happened to Mioko. She was probably already dead. The two of them were able to hide the fact that they knew what Blight's goal was for about four months. However, their work ethic was severely depleted. They couldn't consciously work for such a sinister organization. They already knew that Blight was evil at its roots, but the leaders were far beyond evil. Kouji slowly stood up and took a few steps towards the cell door. It was only a matter of days before he was killed. Blight couldn't risk possibly the two smartest people on earth defecting from them. They had already gained a way to give superhuman powers to people among other things, so they had no problem getting rid of the couple. Kouji wondered whether it was possible to defeat Blight. In his mind, it wasn't. As much as he wanted to theorize ways to take down Blight, he wasn't going to be able to share any of his ideas anyhow, so he just accepted his fate.
