Chapter 009: The Reward of the Task

At this point, Liu Xinyu had been wholly beguiled by the tantalizing sight under Lin Huixin's skirt. Now, when a man chances upon a glimpse of a goddess's 'little secrets', if he retains his composure and manners, he might just not be a man at all!

Head bowed low, Liu Xinyu, like a covert operative on a mission, sneakily shot glances at Lin Huixin, his gaze locking onto the spot between her legs. Lin Huixin, due to her seated position, had her skirt hiked up nearly to her thighs. As the light was not generous, the area between her legs appeared slightly dim. But the sleek, fair thighs reflected the light, adding a mysterious glow to the vista.

In the midst of the lovely canyon, there lay a smidge of lilac fabric, gently shifting with Lin Huixin's movements. Was it the system's superhuman gift that made Liu Xinyu's vision extraordinarily sharp? Despite the distance and inadequate light, he could see clearly the allure of that secretive spot.

Lin Huixin was wearing a pair of lilac lace panties, in which everything but the sacred area was crafted from lace, rendering it semi-transparent. Liu Xinyu was utterly ensnared by the sight under Lin Huixin's skirt, forgetting to check her reaction. Lin Huixin, still stooping low, observed Liu Xinyu with stealth. Seeing Liu Xinyu's attention on her legs, her cheeks flushed brighter, and her breathing quickened. Shame flooded her, but all she could do was let Liu Xinyu look.

A moment later, Lin Huixin's legs widened further, providing Liu Xinyu with a more detailed view. He saw everything, even to the point where her panties seemed to have shifted slightly, revealing a patch of soft, fair flesh.

Thump! The sight of this soft flesh caused a certain something in Liu Xinyu's trousers to stand at attention, like a soldier saluting his general. If it weren't for the loose trousers and the materials stacked on his lap, Lin Huixin would undoubtedly have noticed Liu Xinyu's reaction.

Lin Huixin brushed the hair that had fallen on her forehead back behind her ear. Although a blush lingered on her face, her gaze and expression were back to normal, making it impossible for anyone to know that she had intentionally exposed herself.

"Have you finished looking?" Lin Huixin asked, placing the cup she had picked up back on the tea table, speaking as if nothing had happened, though her words carried a double meaning.

Liu Xinyu nodded, a solemn expression on his face. "Yes, Chairman Lin, I have seen everything I need to."

"Excellent," Lin Huixin replied with a decisive nod. "Now, go find Xiao Wu. She'll arrange for your transfer. From now on, your workspace will be right outside my office. Oh, and this afternoon, you're accompanying me on a trip." With that, she effectively dismissed Liu Xinyu from her office.

Liu Xinyu stood immediately, taking the dismissal in stride. "Understood, Chairman Lin. I'll take my leave now."

"Go on," Lin Huixin ordered, not moving an inch from her spot as she watched him leave.

Once he was out of sight, Lin Huixin slapped her forehead dramatically, her eyes wide in disbelief. She had no idea why she had just made such an arrangement. She could only blame it on the "system" that was operating behind the scenes.

"Task completed," the system informed her. "Reward: Yuanming Group successfully acquires government land. X-Ray Vision Pill: 1."

"X-Ray Vision Pill has been deposited into the host's backpack. Upon consumption, the host will gain the ability to see through all things for one hour."

"The host has performed admirably in this task. We hope you keep up the good work," the system encouraged.

Lin Huixin's spirit was immediately lifted at the news. The task was complete, the reward was given, and now, it was time to validate the authenticity of the system's items.

Yuanming Group's acquisition of the land was not something she could validate right away, so Lin Huixin decided to test the veracity of the X-Ray Vision Pill instead. She mentally called for her backpack and saw a small, white pill, the size of a fingertip, sitting quietly inside. Concentrating her energy on the pill, she read its description, 'X-Ray Vision Pill: consume to gain the ability to see through everything for an hour.'

With a single thought, the pill materialized in her hand. This ability to conjure objects out of thin air was shocking to Lin Huixin. She examined the pill carefully; it was indeed a physical object, not a 3D projection.

Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes, popped the pill into her mouth, and swallowed it like a jellybean. After waiting a moment in silence, nothing magical occurred. There was no dizziness, no warmth in her belly, nothing.

"Is it a sham?" Lin Huixin was quite disappointed, but also a bit relieved and a tad embarrassed.

However, the next moment, she was utterly stunned. The wall in front of her slowly began to become transparent, and lo and behold, she saw Liu Xinyu chatting with the secretary outside.

"By heavens...I really can see through things!" At this point, Lin Huixin could no longer doubt the system's authenticity. This was a power you'd only see in movies. How on earth was this happening in real life?

Then Lin Huixin looked down at herself, and much to her shock, she could see through her own clothing to her fair and perky chest. It was as if she were completely naked in her own eyes.

In her office, Lin Huixin was having the time of her life, laughing and marvelling at her new ability like a little girl discovering her superpowers. She was now thoroughly convinced about the system.

After a while, she turned her gaze to the system's store, where a plethora of items dazzled her eyes. Then she glanced at Liu Xinyu's status.

"Fate Partner: Liu Xinyu (Capture Value 5 = Points 5)"

'Liu Xinyu just had his first close conversation with me, he got promoted, and even saw my... underwear. So, the Capture Value has increased. The system says that Capture Value is measured by his affinity towards me. Communication and close contact can enhance this. I now have 5 points, which can buy quite a few items from the store,' Lin Huixin thought.

"Friendly reminder: The Capture Value of the Fate Partner does not stay the same forever. It's not always a straight rise. If the host makes any move or comment that the Fate Partner dislikes, the Capture Value will decrease. And with that, the corresponding points will be deducted. If the host doesn't have enough points to be deducted, the system will impose a penalty on the host," the system warned her.
