Monster Army

(A/N)

I'm late. Sorry, I'm really sick.

Talking about this chapter. I felt like this was less of a fight and more monotonous in nature. Simply... boring.

I think it is most probably because I failed to maintain the flow of the chapter. One moment, something is happening, then there is an explanation or monologue in between that just ruins the flow.

I'll try to improve on this matter. Sorry.

Alex talked with Yue on the front seats in the car while Shea and Myu were playing something in the back. It looked like a scene out of a happy family's life.

Alex suddenly had a question he had never thought about before. Calling out to Shea, he asked.

"Shea. Do you have human ears as well?"

In response, Shea's bunny ears drooped, and she pouted. "Mouu Alex-san, that's mean you know. You never even noticed until now. Of course I-"

Yue and Shea stopped saying anything and glanced in a direction. Following their gaze, Alex saw the massive army of monsters that came into view after a hill no longer blocked their vision.

"That is..."

Alex felt his eyes meet Shimizu's, who was standing on the back of a black dragon.

All the monsters charging up their attacks let loose, and the dragon's breath came their way. Alex hurriedly held all three of them and jumped out of the car. After all, he didn't want to take any chances just in case.

The breath attack filled with magic impacted the car and the ground heavily yet quietly. There was no noise, but the intensity of the attack was clear to notice. If it directly struck any of them, it might very well be a fatal attack.

Shimizu interacted with Mikhael regarding something, and the monsters split into two groups. Most probably, they wanted the army to encircle the city entirely.

Of the monsters led by Shimizu, only a few were left to guard the border, whereas most of them followed his lead, heading towards them.

Alex's eyes turned cold as he sentenced Shimizu to death in his mind.

"Shea. Take care of Myu. Yue, just keep the monsters at bay for now. I'll deal with the dragon by myself."

"Leave it to me. Be careful." "Roger" Yue and Shea both equipped a few artifacts, and even little Myu waved around a gun going, 'Shoot you, nano.'

Yue chanted a spell, and when the monsters came close enough-

"Lightning Dragon" Magic condensed into yellow lightning in the form of an eastern dragon. The attack then headed towards the monsters. As a unique spell using gravity magic, the lightning dragon pulled the monsters in the vicinity towards its mouth. The monsters tried to claw their way out, but they could only flail helplessly as they were fried alive.

The magic spell tore through the ranks and made a horizontal line of death in it.

Praising Yue in his mind, Alex looked at Shimizu who was riding the black dragon in the front. 'Idiot' If Shimizu, the one controlling the army, was killed, all the monsters would either go berserk or be freed from his control. Yet, here he was, charging straight ahead like a particular idiot hero. Maybe the victory in Ur made him too confident.

Shimizu's mouth gaped open wide, seeing the fantastic and menacing display of magic. He suddenly wanted to turn back and hide behind his army.

It couldn't be helped. After all, no matter how arrogant Shimizu became, he was still a coward at his core.

Alex, on the other hand, didn't waste any time either. He grasped his swords and pointed the sword in his right hand at Shimizu. Pulling the small trigger on the hilt, and with a loud bang, the bullet exited the barrel at startling speed. Not given any time to react, Shimizu was hit right beside his heart.

"Aaargh!"

Shimizu's face contorted as he let out a scream in pain. Tears pooled in his eyes at the unimaginable pain, and he fell down into the thick horde of monsters. Falling on the back of a monster, Shimizu groaned loudly, then he limply laid down in the dirt and mud surrounded by the monsters. He wasn't dead, but he also wasn't far from it.

There was no way Alex missed; he just did not want to kill him yet. What if Shimizu died and the monsters really went berserk. Then it will be really troublesome.

But this seemed to have an opposite effect, and the monsters started running here and there and wreak havoc everywhere. Even the monsters by Mikhael on the other side of the city seemed incensed and began rampaging.

Alex scratched his head at this... He had thought that as someone summoned from Earth, Shimizu must be able to at least heal from such an injury, especially after he must've levelled up quite a lot. After he even went so far as to avoid targeting any organ, maybe only breaking a bone or two and burst a few nerves.

'He is too fragile. I am disappointed in him.'

Alex shook his head. He really overestimated his opponent. "It's you who is too much of a monster, you know." Did he hear Shea's voice? Probably not.

Anyways, back to the current situation. All the monsters, the black dragon included, roared aloud and moved to surround Shimizu like he was the most precious thing in the world. Perhaps they were responding to his desire to live and to protect himself.

Looking over at Horaud, he sighed in relief seeing that the city barrier was operating. If another massacre happened, Shea would again be saddened.

Well, that makes things easier. Yue, who was spamming spells like a broken mage, and Shea, weaving through monsters with Myu on her back, stopped upon seeing their enemies retreat. Yue threw out a lot of grenades from the treasure trove. With another boom, a large chunk of monsters was cleared away. While Shea used Orkan, or the missile launcher, to blast them away.

The monsters lost all reasoning and charged towards the foes slaughtering their kind. Shimizu looked awake, and laboriously he took out a healing potion from the pouch on his waist and gulped it down. He groaned in misery and could only look at the sky with bloodshot eyes. He still mumbled shit like the true hero and all, even when so close to death.

"Alex, the demon is running away."

Alex looked at the other side of Horaud, and sure enough the demon that came with Shimizu was running away after sensing the monsters run out of control. Alex made a cold sneer and thought the demons were really good at making good use of tools.

"Yue, can you kill him."

"No problem." said Yue without hesitation.

Yue floated using gravity magic but suddenly made a strange face.

"Yue stop."

Yue stopped midair and looked at him in puzzlement.

"... Please leave the pile bunker here."
