Chapter 128: Rage

"Samuel Johnson!"

Amanda Smith was on the verge of madness.

She wasn't wearing anything underneath, and with one pull, her entire body was exposed to the air.

Before she could feel embarrassed or angry, the man began to scrutinize her body from top to bottom, his brows furrowing gradually. He then asked, "Did he hit you?"

Amanda was stunned for a moment before realizing that the man had spotted the fading bruises on her body.

"How could that be?" she retorted instinctively, pulling her hands forcefully from his grip, gathering her open robe around her, and turning her back with a touch of embarrassment. "A few days ago... I had an accident, and I've been recovering at Evan's place, so I haven't had the chance to get back home. These little injuries are nothing; you—" she pursed her lips, stopping herself. She had meant to say that he needn't worry, but then she thought that he might not care at all. Saying it out loud would only give him a chance to mock her for overthinking.
