Giving The Female Lead A Happy Ending At All Costs To Save My Soul

Katarina had a picture perfect life: everlasting wealth, a loving husband, and everything she could ever want, but it all ended when she caught him and sister in bed together! To top it all, her husband ended up killing her after completely ruining her life. Luckily for her, she was granted a second chance to live. But, there was ONE clause. Katarina woke up in a story, as the main character of the book. In order to leave the story and return to her original life, she has to grant the female lead a happy and satisfying ending no matter what. The story’s female lead’s life was quite pathetic. She was blind, weak and bullied, and her betrothed who she was supposed to get married to, is fucking female lead’s step sister right under female lead’s nose. Katarina didn’t expect this quest to be an easy one, but she also didn’t expect it to be complicated to the extent of people wanting the weak female lead dead. ——— | ——— “Do I look like a fucking baby sitter to you?” He demanded, sounding as outraged as he looked. I let out a frustrated breath, knowing I was in no place to flare up since I’m the one in need right now. “No, your highness, you do not.” “Then why do you keep asking me t–” “Because my life is on the line!” I exclaimed urgently. His eyes narrowed and he scoffed. “What has that got to do with me? Do I look like I care? Cause I promise you that I do not.” “Because you need me, your highness. You know you do, even though you refuse to admit it.” I blurted out. A scowl settled on his handsome face. “Stop saying nonsense, you delusional weirdo.” “We both need each other and that’s the truth, so it’s best I don’t lose my life just yet, don’t you think so?”

Renewed Energy

Katarina's POV

With determination, I decided to use the element of surprise to my advantage. As the men closed in on the clearing, I waited for the perfect moment. And then, with a burst of energy, I emerged from my hiding place, sprinting in the opposite direction.

It was a crazy plan but it was now or never and I chose now to do it.

"I hope this works," I muttered under my ragged breath while running with everything in me.

Their shouts of confusion and frustration filled the air as I darted through the trees, my senses heightened and my focus razor-sharp.

Each second felt like an eternity as I fought against exhaustion, pushing myself to outrun my captors.

The forest became my ally, its ancient trees sheltering me as I weaved through the shadows. The moon, my guiding light, illuminated my path, casting a determined glow upon my face.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the sounds of pursuit grew fainter and eventually faded into the night.

I had evaded capture, escaped the clutches of those who sought to harm me.

Relief washed over me, tears mingling with the dirt and sweat on my face as I laughed a joyful laughter.

"Finally," I heaved a sigh of relief. I had escaped.

But the journey was not over. I knew I had to keep moving, to find safety beyond the reach of my kidnappers.

With renewed resolve, I pressed forward, determined to leave this nightmare behind me.

I didn't know where I was going, but I knew if I just kept going straight, I would end up somewhere. Hopefully somewhere good.

Through the night, I navigated the unfamiliar terrain, relying on my instincts and the guidance of the stars above.

When I found a little tent with no one in it, I entered and sought refuge in it and tried resting there for the night.

My heart was pounding as I curled up in the far corner of the musty old tent, pressing my hands firmly over my mouth to stifle even the slightest sound.

It was impossible to see anything in the pitch blackness, but my other senses were heightened with fear.

I listened intently for any voices or footsteps approaching through the trees.

At first, the shouts and calls of the kidnappers as they searched for me seemed painfully close. My entire body tensed, every muscle coiled to spring up and run at a moment's notice.

Slowly, the sounds began to fade further into the distance until only the normal night noises of the forest remained.

Still I did not dare to move or even breathe too loudly. Time crept by endlessly as I lay trembling in the darkness. The hard ground began to numb my bones and my stomach twisted with hunger, but I did not dare risk lighting a fire or searching for food. All I could do was wait and hope that dawn would come swiftly.

What stupid mess had I gotten myself into? I thought to myself. How terrible was this world? Who would I go to that would believe my story and help me?

If only that stupid voice that had brought me here would tell me what I needed to do to save myself that would help.

How could I save this Jane of a girl when I was clearly scared of dying for if I died here I would die for real.

"Help me," I muttered into the air for any external force to hear my cries and actually help me. I had to get out of here somehow and I needed help.

As the black of night continued, I began to relax my stiff muscles inch by inch.

Cautiously peering out of the tent flap, I saw no sign of movement among the trees. With agonizing slowness, I crawled out of my hiding place and stretched limbs that had gone half-numb.

A bird's cheery midnight song made me start with alarm, but I tried to soothe my frayed nerves. It was time to continue my escape while the kidnappers' trail had hopefully grown cold.

I found an empty water skin and filled it from a nearby stream and made do with handfuls of berries for nourishment. Then I set off into the forest once more.

All my senses remained on high alert as I picked my way through the trees. Every snapped twig or rustle of undergrowth sent panic shooting through me, imagining the kidnappers were close behind.

I stumbled often in my exhausted state but dared not rest for long. As noon passed, my feet seemed to move of their own accord through sheer willpower alone.

The forest continued endlessly it seemed. I began to worry I would wander lost among the trees forever, easy prey should the kidnappers double back.

Just as despair was settling in, I spotted a game trail winding through the undergrowth. Clinging to hope, I followed it swiftly down the sloping woodland.

Before long, the dense trees began to thin. Heart lifting, I glimpsed open fields and cultivated land in the distance beyond.

Pushing through the last of the forest edge, I emerged into the fading moonlight. Fields stretched as far as the eye could see, dotted with peasant farmsteads. Civilization at last!

I drank from my bottle while walking without care. I was sure the people in the tents would give me the help I needed.

Renewed energy carried me swiftly across the open ground towards the nearest dwellings. As I approached, people working in the fields cried out in alarm at the ragged sight of me.

A kindly farmer took me in, tending my injuries and giving me warm broth and bread.

I noticed they were all men but I shrugged. It didn't matter. I had read about men who lived in groups to tend to each other.

That was when I recognized one of the men as my kidnapper.

This wasn't happening, I thought to myself. This was the kidnappers' den.
