Giving The Female Lead A Happy Ending At All Costs To Save My Soul

Katarina had a picture perfect life: everlasting wealth, a loving husband, and everything she could ever want, but it all ended when she caught him and sister in bed together! To top it all, her husband ended up killing her after completely ruining her life. Luckily for her, she was granted a second chance to live. But, there was ONE clause. Katarina woke up in a story, as the main character of the book. In order to leave the story and return to her original life, she has to grant the female lead a happy and satisfying ending no matter what. The story’s female lead’s life was quite pathetic. She was blind, weak and bullied, and her betrothed who she was supposed to get married to, is fucking female lead’s step sister right under female lead’s nose. Katarina didn’t expect this quest to be an easy one, but she also didn’t expect it to be complicated to the extent of people wanting the weak female lead dead. ——— | ——— “Do I look like a fucking baby sitter to you?” He demanded, sounding as outraged as he looked. I let out a frustrated breath, knowing I was in no place to flare up since I’m the one in need right now. “No, your highness, you do not.” “Then why do you keep asking me t–” “Because my life is on the line!” I exclaimed urgently. His eyes narrowed and he scoffed. “What has that got to do with me? Do I look like I care? Cause I promise you that I do not.” “Because you need me, your highness. You know you do, even though you refuse to admit it.” I blurted out. A scowl settled on his handsome face. “Stop saying nonsense, you delusional weirdo.” “We both need each other and that’s the truth, so it’s best I don’t lose my life just yet, don’t you think so?”

Katarina's POV

I walked around the room, admiring the old things I could see as I found that I was in medieval times. There were no cars while I had walked on the street and everyone wore weird clothings.

I had noticed as well that when I had woken up during that period I had been in what looked like a hospital.

I shrugged, looking at the paintings on the walls and laughed at how old things were here.

If I had been born during the old times, would I have survived? That was a question I had seen being asked in YouTube videos but now I was living the life, I couldn't say anything but live in it and pray that I survive long enough to give this girl a happy ending and get back to my own time. I was not supposed to be here.

I looked out of the window to see the world of the old times but there was nothing special about it. Sure the world wasn't in gray or anything like that but it still wasn't a special moment for me.

I walked into the kitchen to go through the fridge but there was no modern day appliance.

"Just great," I muttered to myself. "No phone, no fridge, no tv, just bricks and stones and God knows what."

I opened a pot to see cobwebs and dead flies which had me closing it back.

This is going to take me some getting used to.

I looked around looking for what to eat but there was nothing. How did this human even survive here?

I was too tired to do anything in this strange place so I went to the bed to fall asleep. I would think better when I was well rested and ready to consider my day.

Who knows? Maybe I would wake up in my own body and know this was all a dream.

In the dream I had, I encountered a faceless being who nearly had me running for my life.

"You should not be afraid," the creature said. "I am not here to hurt you."

But I refused to believe it.

"I will tell you what I know of the girl whom you have possessed her body."

At least a voice that would explain to me what I needed to know and not threaten my life.

"Jane is from a…"

I chuckled as the beat looked at me with tilted head.

"Is something funny?" It asked as I shook my head.

"Jane," I repeated. "Such a plain name."

It didn't say anything which told me it was mad so I waved it to carry on which it did.

"Back to the story, Jane is from an average medical home. Her father is dead and all she has is her step sister and her step mother who usually maltreats her and mocks her. Now before her father died Jane was betrothed to the son of his best friend who is the best warrior in the kingdom. I shall leave you with this information. Do with it whatever you will and if you need any help, do not hesitate to ask me."

I opened my eyes feeling happy and refreshed as I stared at the ceiling for a while.

It was still daylight.

I was glad about the information I had gotten from the dream.

If she was betrothed then it would not be hard to get her to marry the guy. This made my job simpler than I had imagined it would be.

All she needed was a little push and she would be okay. If Jane got married then all her problems would be solved and I would be taken back to my own life so I would continue from where I stopped.

I got to my feet, ready to conquer my day as I heard someone get into the house. Someone was here. I thought she lived alone.

I opened my room door to see who it was when I got shoved out of the way, causing me to fall down by someone I immediately recognized to be Jane's step sister.

"A blind bat has no need coming out into the open," the step sister said as I gritted my teeth.

"You're right Jamie," an older woman said at the end of the hallway. "You should get back in your dark hole before an accident happens to you which could permanently end your life."

That was Jane's step mother.

I was about to reveal to them that I could see but decided against it.

If they knew I was someone different, how would I explain to them that I was stuck in a story and a time that wasn't mine.

I decided to play the role they had given me and walked back into my room to sit down and reflect on my new life.

***

I was seated in the living room a few hours later, thinking of my life and what to do next when Jamie, Jane's step sister, entered into the house with the beat warrior of the town who happened to be the man I was supposedly betrothed to.

This was shocking and I couldn't believe my eyes as I watched them make out vigorously before me.

They didn't care that I was right before them until I remembered that I was thought to still be blind.

At this point it dawned on me that no one gave a shit about Jane and her thoughts.

She was just a random girl who wasn't important to anyone and they used her disability to go about their day.

At this point, I knew that Jane's life was way more complicated than I had anticipated it to be.

To be blind in a time when no one cared about me was something I didn't even know was possible.

Now I was shocked and I didn't know what to do or say.

I watched them kiss and immediately felt like Jane needed to have her own revenge.
