Chapter 106: David Get's Baptized...

When the Creeper was about to attack David, who had shot at it earlier, it stared at him menacingly, a wide grin plastered on its face, showcasing its sharp teeth.

But suddenly, a flash of light came from behind the Creeper, startling them.

Due to the light, David couldn't see who had arrived on the opposite side.

Bonk~ Bonk~

The old car that had arrived behind the Creeper stopped and honked at the stranger standing before it.

At that moment, the old man driving the car noticed the axe the mysterious figure was carrying.

On the opposite side was a cop, looking very beat up with a few bloody bruises on his face, holding a gun in his hand.

Behind him was the cop's car, which had suffered major damage.

Click~

The old man, observing the scene, grabbed the shotgun from the seat beside him and stepped out of the car.

"Hey, move away from him."

After stepping out, the old man pointed the gun at the Creeper's back and warned it to step away from David, who looked a little stunned.

'Is reinforcement finally here?'

Hearing the voice, David's hope of escaping this demon in front of him began to rise.

"____"

When the Creeper heard the old man's warning, it stood still, not moving an inch, maintaining its silence.

"I said move away. Put your weapon down."

Bang~

Seeing that the attacker wasn't responding to his warning, the old man frowned and fired a shot into the ground beside the Creeper, attempting to intimidate it into giving up its weapon.

"____"

'Shit...'

At that moment, David's eyes widened in realization—the one who was trying to help him wasn't reinforcements but just an old man who happened to be a passerby.

Attracted by the commotion caused by him and the Creeper, the old man had approached the scene.

"Run away!... Hurry up!... Don't come near him!"

Even though David was terrified of death, he couldn't let an innocent life be taken because of him. He hurriedly shouted at the old man to escape.

Grrr~

While David was trying to warn the old man, the Creeper slowly turned, glaring at him menacingly, a low growl escaping its mouth.

"____"

"Holy fuck!!!"

Looking at the Creeper's grotesque face, the old man froze in terror and instinctively took a few steps back.

Bang~ Click~

Bang~ Click~

This time, the old man didn't hesitate.

He aimed the shotgun at the Creeper's face, which was now smirking and baring its razor-sharp teeth, and opened fire.

The shots hit their mark, shattering half of the Creeper's face. It fell to its knees in pain.

Even though it could regenerate, the Creeper could still feel pain.

It had never expected a shotgun blast to take away half of its face.

Ahhh~

Seeing the monster down on its knees, the old man started to regain confidence and took a few steps forward to get a closer look at the creature before him.

"Don't get closer! Come on, hurry up!... Let's get out of here!"

Noticing the old man moving closer to examine the Creeper, David shouted in alarm. He hurried to the old man's side, jumped into the car, and urged him to get in quickly.

Nod~

With a nod, the old man climbed into the car without hesitation, using the Creeper's distraction caused by its shattered face.

Vroom~

David started the car and sped back toward the hotel, intending to wait there for reinforcements.

If he had known this would happen, he would never have come here alone to confront the culprit.

Sigh~

After five minutes of speeding along the main road, David let out a sigh.

"What is that thing...?"

The old man broke the silence, his voice trembling slightly as he began to ask about the monster they had just escaped from.

Swish~

The conversation was abruptly interrupted by something that smashed through the window.

A sharp object pierced through the old man's head, pinning it to the seat.

Splash~

"____"

Blood splattered everywhere.

David's face turned pale, his eyes widened in shock as he realized what had happened. Panicked, he slammed the accelerator, pushing the car to its maximum speed.

Crash~

The door was suddenly ripped open with force by a massive hand with sharp claws.

That's when David saw it—the Creeper, now with wings unfurled, flying after the car.

Bang~ Bang~

David fired two shots from his pistol, both striking the Creeper's wings.

The shots slowed it down, but as it fell back, it grabbed the old man's body—his head still pinned to the seat—and dragged it out of the car.

'Oh God!... Save me. If I escape today, I'll pray to you daily.'

Tears streaming down his face, David sped down the highway, fear gripping him as he prayed desperately for his life.

The Creeper, however, didn't pursue him further.

Instead, it flew to a nearby tree, perched on one of its branches, and began eating the old man's head without a hint of regret.

At 12:45 A.M...

Inside the hotel, Darry and his sister Trish, along with Deputy Dana Lang, sat at one of the tables with grim expressions.

They had already sent the hotel owner and his daughter home, following orders to stay at the hotel until reinforcements arrived.

If the killer attacked, Dana didn't want to drag the father and daughter into the mess.

Since the attacker seemed to be after the siblings, she had chosen to stay and protect them until backup came.

The atmosphere in the room was heavy.

Just moments ago, Dana had received a call from the forensic officer about the test results on the fingerprint they had collected.

Darry and Trish, who were nearby during the call, overheard the conversation.

Both siblings were shocked, and Trish looked at Darry with wide eyes.

The forensic officer reported that the powder on the fingerprint indicated the presence of dead skin that was extremely old.

He also mentioned that his conversation with David had been abruptly cut off.

Despite repeated attempts, he had been unable to re-establish contact with him.

Since then, the tension in the room had been palpable.

On one side, Dana Lang was trying to reach David through her walkie-talkie, her agitation evident as each attempt failed.

But no matter how much she tried, David did not respond.

"Why haven't reinforcements arrived yet?"

Losing his patience, Darry spoke in frustration, glaring out at the empty road through the glass window.

"Let's wait patiently, Darry..."

Seeing her brother's frustration, Trish tried to calm him down.

Her eyes, however, kept darting toward the telephone, as if expecting a call.

She was hoping to hear from the mysterious boy who had contacted them earlier.

Meanwhile, Dana silently observed the siblings, lost in her thoughts.

Vroom~

The roar of an engine outside snapped Dana out of her thoughts.

She looked out the window, and what she saw made her frown deeply.

"Don't go out!"

She quickly drew her pistol and ordered the siblings, who were about to approach the window to see who had arrived at the hotel, to stay back.

After giving her orders to the siblings, Dana cautiously stepped out of the hotel, her pistol aimed intently at the car.

The front windshield was cracked, making it impossible for her to see who was inside, but she could tell the vehicle was severely damaged.

Click~

Um~ Ah~

A muffled sound came from the car as the door creaked open.

Inside, David lay slumped over the steering wheel, letting out faint groans.

"Sir!... What happened to you?"

Seeing that the person in the car was none other than David—the man she had been frantically trying to contact—Dana panicked and rushed forward to help him.

"Dana... I finally made it. That thing... it's not human. It can fly, regenerate, and has superhuman strength."

With Dana's support, David stepped out of the car, grimacing in pain.

That's when she noticed the extent of his injuries.

David was missing his left arm, and a massive slash ran across the left side of his face, rendering him unrecognizable.

His left eye was gone, likely from the impact of the wound.

Seeing David's condition, Darry, who had been watching from inside the hotel, rushed out to help Dana.

Together, they brought him inside.

Once inside, they gently laid David down on a nearby couch.

Trish quickly grabbed a cloth and pressed it against his wounds, doing her best to stop the bleeding.

"Sir... what happened to you? Why are you injured? Why..."

Dana's voice quivered as she bombarded David with questions, her concern evident.

Before David had left the hotel, he had been perfectly fine.

Now, he was nearly unrecognizable, his body battered and broken.

Something terrible had happened.

"I... I... I saw it."

David's voice trembled, and his body shivered as he spoke, his words stuttering.

He looked as though he was on the verge of breaking down, much like Darry when he first emerged from the old church.

Gulp~

"What?"

Darry swallowed hard, his chest tightening as he looked at the captain.

For some reason, he felt an unsettling connection to David's fear.

Perhaps now, the captain, who had previously dismissed Darry's claims, would understand the terror he had experienced.

"The devil!!! The one chasing you is the devil..."

Unable to contain his voice, David shouted, his trembling hand grabbing Darry's shoulder as if to anchor himself.

With his remaining strength, he began to explain the horrors he had encountered after leaving the hotel.
