"Which was why I was against you moving to the other part of the town but you are quite stubborn," Tina said with a loud laugh causing Madison to also burst into laughter.
"Alright, we will be on our way home," Madison said with a smile.
"Alright, I will be expecting you both," Tina replied and disconnected the call.
"You see, she still cares about you despite all you have done to her," Madison turned to look at her dad who looked at her solemnly.
"Alright, stop mopping over your daughter who doesn't even care about you because you do not care about her, so put on an happy smile and follow me home for a dinner," Madison said with a nonchalant smile as she went into her room. She wanted to have a change of clothes.
Meanwhile, Kaia was alone in the car, well not technically alone as the man was also in the car with her.
She was alone in her thoughts. Thoughts about what will happen in her marriage haunted her and she was bounded by fear.
"Miss Madison, we would arrive in 10 minutes, I hope you are excited to see our boss, I heard he has a very good surprise for you," the driver said to Kaia which jolted her out of her thoughts.
"Uhm, I'm excited to meet with him, I hope he is just as excited as I am," Kaia pleased him also and he nodded with a smile.
"My boss is just as excited as you are, do not worry, you will have a good marriage," the driver flattered her as he drove into a rough terrain.
"That's if he is still alive," Kaia whispered to herself before noticing they had entered into a place to which she was unfamiliar with.
"This is?" She curiously asked as she sat upright.
"My boss lives alone, didn't you make a research about the man you are to get married to?" He asked as he stared at her with unbelievable eyes.
Kaia looked at him confusedly. How was she to know who she was getting married to as he was very mysterious? She didn't even know she would get married till yesterday?
Even when the marriage proposal came, no one knew who Madison was to get married, then how on earth would she have made her research on him?
Sensing her reluctance to reply, the driver smiled before saying, "do no worry, you will get to know more of my boss, your husband soon enough, just be patient."
Kaia rolled her eyes behind the veil as she was tempted to hiss out loudly. She was getting fed up. The only good thing she felt now was that her mom was being treated and would get better, that was her peace of mind.
Soon enough, they arrived at an old looking building which brought a frown to Kaia's face as the first reaction.
"Please, do not judge a book by its cover, the interior is very pretty," the driver quickly said as he sensed Kaia's repulsion while staring at the gate.
"No, I'm not repulsed, I just wondered why he is living here," Kaia immediately said as she didn't want to offend him, completely forgetting her character as Madison who's meant to be sassy and proud.
"You are sure, you know, you have been really different from what the public presents you are, you are actually this nice to talk to," the driver said while staring at her meaningfully.
Kaia turned to look at him as she said, "you should not believe everything which the public says."
Kaia was already panicking as she hoped for him to feel less suspicious of her due to her statement. She didn't want the cover blown or else, her mom's life will be at stake. While they were exchanging words, the car had already been driven in.
"You are right, alright, let's go in, I believe he must have been expecting you for a long while," the driver said as he swiftly alighted the car and opened the car's door for her before she could do so herself.
"Thank you," Kaia thanked him as she also alighted from the car.
Kaia looked around and she could see that what he said was actually quite true. The inner of the building was quite pretty, the gate was more of a barrier.
The building was surrounded by flowers and for once, Kaia felt a bit good about this marriage as she would be surrounded by flowers.
There was a fountain and also statues of lions to which Kaia appreciated. She loved the person who designed the outer decor and she wondered what the inside would look like if the outside was this beautiful.
"I guess you like what you are seeing, can we move in now, I'm sure you will be blown away," the driver said as he gestured for Kaia to walk in.
He opened the door and Kaia walked in. For some reason, Kaia felt that she just stepped into a new world and there was no way she was pulling back.
No idea why she felt that way, but she just had that gut feeling that she would be shocked by what lies behind the walls of these doors.
"Alright, my journey with you ends here, my boss has also cleared all the maids so that it will just be the two of you, if you want to find him, once you climb up the stairs,
The first room on the right is your husband's room, there he will be waiting for you to sign the marriage contract since like I said previously, he's ill," the driver said as he swiftly left the mansion leaving Kaia all alone in the big living room.
Kaia slumped down immediately. She had no idea if she was to meet him immediately or if she should just wait for the sun to go down before meeting with him.
"Kaia, you can do this, isn't it just to meet with him, you can also tell him that you aren't the real bride, who knows, he can save your mom's life and they the both of you can live this country to somewhere else so you can start a new life," Kaia spoke to herself.
With these words, she had already convinced herself to tell him the truth. Having made up her mind, she proceeded towards the stairs. She had to end it once and for all. She would feel bad if she was lying to someone. The man didn't deserve the deceit.
