Chapter 8: Charles' Mistake

The man opened the door to the backseat as he gestured for her to make her way into. She nodded as she did so. Her mind was at peace knowing that the secret was still intact.

But she wondered what will happen if they got to find out.

"No Kaia, you shouldn't think of stupid things," she thought to herself as she settled into the backseat of the car. She looked out through the car's window after she was sure that the man was settled into the car and unexpectedly enough, she saw someone.

It was Madison and she was whispering something to her. Thankfully, she could read lips and for some reason, she felt it was a bad thing.

"This is just the beginning of your sorrows, you are going to suffer more in your new home," this was what Madison who was hiding in a corner said to Kaia and she felt goosebumps immediately.

"Is there anything the problem, Miss Madison?" The man asked as he stared into the direction she was also looking at.

"No, no, there isn't, I thought I saw something," Kaia replied quickly.

"Do you need me to check it out, it could be something dangerous," the man asked as he was prepared to leave the car causing Kaia to panic.

"No, you don't have to," she rushed to say. It will be a disaster if he found Madison there. She didn't want to think about the consequences.

"Are you sure?" He asked her to be sure.

"Yes, I'm very sure," she replied with a smile which wasn't a smile. It was a forced one.

"Alright, if that's what you want, we will be leaving now," he said to her. He totally understood what was going on but he wasn't the one who was going to give the spill, he was waiting for the shock which will be etched on her face when she finally comes to know the truth.

Meanwhile, Madison watched as the car was ignited and left the courtyard. She heaved a sigh before entering into the condo.

"Has she left?" Suddenly, a middle-aged man came out as he asked the question.

"Yes she has," Madison said with a relieved voice as she collapsed unto the chair.

"Did she ask of me?" The man asked while playing with his fingers, showing how nervous he was.

"Yes she did ask of you but I shattered her dreams, just like the way her mom shattered my mom's dreams," Madison replied nonchalantly while playing with her hair.

"What did you say to her Madison, I told you not to hurt her emotions, what did you say to her?" The man roared as he stared straight at Madison who didn't even bother to raise her head up.

"I just did what had to be done, I told her that you won't be around for her ceremony and I don't think there would be any ceremony, you need to see how dejected she looked, it was really fun," Madison chuckled as she recalled how sad Kaia looked when she informed her about it.

"You didn't have to go that far, you should have at least let me see her, she would be really heartbroken now," the man who later turned out to be the two girls' father said as he walked aimlessly around the living room.

"Chillax dad, this is your fault, if you hadn't slept with her mom, then she wouldn't be alive, yet again I still have to thank you since if you hadn't slept with her mom and conceived her, I will be the one in that car on my way to marrying a sickler," Madison stood up as she ranted to him.

Her dad only looked down as he had no idea or clue as to what he was to say. She was right but still, that didn't warrant for her to do something as despicable and heartbreaking as that.

"Still, you don't have to break her heart the more, I did what ever you asked me to do, I stayed away from her and her mom, I gave them the impression that I detested them and found their presence irritating, then why did you have to go the extra mile Madison?" Charles asked as he looked at his daughter. He had no idea what had come over her.

"Please dad, mom won't be pleased to hear what you have to say, remember, her family is still the one helping the company and if they by any means find out that you have an illegitimate child, what do you think will happen?" Madison threatened causing Charles to keep mum.

He had no idea as to why his lovely daughter actually turned this evil. Forcing him to cut Kaia's mom treatment just to force Kaia into taking her place at the altar. She had become really skimming and he knew it was only one person that was the cause, his wife.

Suddenly, the ringing of the phone broke the tension in the room. It was Madison's phone.

"Oh, it's mom, I guess she really knows I'm thinking about her," Madison smiled as she picked up the call while Charles only stared at her while wondering what had happened to his lovely daughter.

"Hey mom, was just speaking with dad about you, do you want to speak with him?" Madison asked as she directed a sly smirk towards her dad who only shook his head.

"No, don't bother, just tell me if she's totally out of our lives," Tina, who's Madison's mom inquired.

"Yes mom, she's finally out of our lives for good, can you also believe a ceremony won't be held," Madison gloated over Kaia's misfortune which brought joy to her mom's ears.

"That's very good, come home for a celebratory dinner, alongside your dad," Tina mentioned the last part in an audible voice which caused Madison to turn to her dad.

"Sure mom, we will be on our way, though the ride home will take a long time," Madison said with a silly pout on her lips.

"Which was why I was against you moving to the other part of the town but you are quite stubborn," Tina said with a loud laugh causing Madison to also burst into laughter.
