Chapter 22: Madison Is Targeted

When she unlocked her phone, the message which she received cause her face to drop and her heart to sink.

"How is this possible?" She questioned herself loudly as she rubbed her eyes in order to ensure she read well.

What had she seen which got her very surprised? The answer, she got rejected as a model.

"But I was the favorite to be chosen, then how did I end up getting rejected," she thought to herself as she felt disgruntled.

"No, I won't take this , I have the right to know why I was rejected," she said to herself as she frantically found a number to call.

Immediately the call was disconnected, she waited several seconds before she was able to get to talk to the director who was in charge of the models' selection.

"Good day Mr Bates," she greeted while her hands clutched her duvet tightly.

"Ah, Madison, why did you call?" Mr. Bates asked. He was aware but he wanted her to say it herself.

"Mr Bates, I thought I was the favorite to be chosen, then why did I receive this rejection letter?" Madison asked.

"Madison, I will be frank with you, you have offended someone you shouldn't have and that person is powerful, I can't go against that person," Bates gave the reason for her being rejected.

"But you are losing me, a potential money bag for your company," Madison said with confidence which brought a smirk to the person on the other end though she wasn't able to see it.

"You have such confidence in yourself and I won't deny that but I love my company, that person has the ability to close my agency, compared to a model who is not yet in the industry fully, I will rather protect my company," Mr Bates chuckled and disconnected the call immediately. Her words annoyed him deeply.

Madison looked at her screen which had turned dark and she was stunned.

'What could he mean by that?' She thought to herself as she felt really mistreated.

'Who is that person?' This was the most pressing question on her mind right now.

She really had to get to the bottom of this. If her memory serves her right, then it seems she had been benched and if she's benched, it just means that she had offended someone but she can't recall offending anyone.

"This is getting frustrating," she muttered to herself as she left her bed. She was not going to get things done by just sitting around. She had to find out who.

'But come to think of it, that's not the only agency you can audition at,' her subconscious said to her.

'You are right, it's just that my crush is working in that agency, which is why I have to work in it, I am really confused as to why I was benched,' she replied the subconscious.

"Oh my goodness, this is just so frustrating," she groaned while putting her hands on her forehead.

She suddenly heard a knock on the door and she changed her expression to a normal one immediately.

"Come in, the door isn't locked," she said as she sat at the edge of her bed.

"Madison," it was her mom who came in.

"Mom, I hope you had a good night rest," Madison said with a smile. This was the only person she cared about in this life.

Come to think of it, Kaia and she are quite alike. This is because they only care about their respective mothers. Their dad was out of the question.

If there was a word to classify Charles, then it will be scumbag. He is a huge scumbag.

"Mom seat," Madison said to her seeing that she was still standing.

"Madison, are you fine?" Tina asked while staring at her daughter. She might be a villain but she cared about her daughter deeply.

"Of course mom, why will you ask such a question?" Madison chuckled as she tucked her hair behind her ear.

"Are you sure?" Tina asked once more. She wanted her to come clean.

"I am really okay, we have been able to send Kaia into a wolf's den, her mom is missing, so why would I not be happy?" Madison casually spilled out a secret which she hadn't told her mom.

"Wait a minute, Keira is missing?" Tina asked as she widened her eyes in shock.

"Yes mom, not sure how it happened, but some me forcefully took her from her ward yesterday, my me could not chase after them, but it is better this way, that woman has caused you severe pains," Madison said with a click of her tongue.

"Forget about her, let's talk about you,"Tina was not the least bothered about Keira. She was only concerned about her own child.

"What's there to talk about?" Madison asked with a smile. She didn't want her mom to know about what she was going through.

"There's a lot to talk about, or don't you want to tell me that you have been rejected as a model?" Tina questioned with folded arms.

Madison looked at her mom, surprised. She wondered how she found out.

"How did you know about it?" She asked nervously. She had wanted to find out things on her own but now that her mom knew about it, she was going to get involved which will be messy.

Her mom knew a lot of people in the entertainment industry and if she were to get involved, then there was no telling if she will offend that person Once again.

"I overheard the conversation you had with Bates," Tina replied simply and that was enough for Madison.

"You hear right, so you should be aware that we shouldn't mess with that person, Mr Bates is so scared of that person," Madison tried to advise her mom.

"Will you forget about your career just because of a little threat? That isn't the Madison I raised and trained," Tina said to her. She wanted to sour her up to do something.

"What can I do mom? I have to tread carefully, I don't know who's against me, he is in the dark while I'm out in the open which makes me vulnerable," Madison broke down.

She also didn't want to let her career go down. She would give everything in her just to find out who's the person against her. As it stands right now, she was totally clueless on what to do.
