The Library [4]

I woke up the next morning because my mother screamed at me, of course she would because I've fallen asleep again 6 times already but whatever. "Okay, I'll come down for breakfast in a second... don't worry about me.", I told my mother. She glared at me angrily and left my room. I got out of bed and dressed myself and went downstairs. My family and Eldrin all sat at the table and ate already. I quietly went there and started eating too. Eldrin spoke up and said "I'll take Jin to the library in the city later if that's fine.", my mother answered "The library? Why?". Eldrin looked at her plate and told my mother, "Sadly, Jin is a Shadow mage, a really rare and difficult magic. I myself can't control it so I'll have to resort to books. It would be good if he came with me so he could look around himself, wouldn't do any harm anyway.", She started eating again, "Also I have to get to the city for some personal troubles.", she added. My father looked at her and responded, "Well, then I don't see any problem with him not going, right, Elara?", my mother just nodded while I smiled. In my previous live I never went to a library, mostly because the village I was in didn't have one so it was a first time for me. After putting the plates on the sink and putting on my shoes I went outside with Eldrin. She smiled at me and we started walking the path through the village to the city. While we were on the path, Eldrin looked over to me and smiled, she told me, "Jin. You really are special. I don't know if you know, but that spell you showed me was of Saint class." I looked at her confused, "What do you mean? Saint class? Isn't that the 3rd highest magic tier?" I asked, she nodded, "It is. that's why I was so flabbergasted... also, you...", she sighed "The stronger a mage is, the more pressure his mana has. Yours is... out of this world. I've met some really strong mages in my life but your mana is on another level. Before we reach the city I'll teach you how to supress this pressure.", I looked even more confused. "Why would I need to supress my mana?", I asked her. She sighed, "While it's true that people with less magical aptitude don't feel is as strong, strong mages, like me, feel is quite... quite more. So to prevent a high ranking mages seeing this and possibly attack you mistaking you for a monster, I'll show you how to supress it.". I smiled at her, "Okay. Sounds good to me." I said while laughing. Eldrin took a long breath, "Do you feel that warmth going out your body?" I nodded. "Try keeping it in your body, not letting it escape." It had worked, I had succesfully supressed my mana. It now was on the level of a normal six year old. Eldrin smiled at me, "Great. Now we can go to the city.". And there we were, infront of the big gates. Eldrin talked with the guards shortly and the gate opened, as we stepped inside I noticed one thing really fast, it was much better than our small village. Everywhere you could look, restaurants, stores and a multitude of other things, though we didn't look around much and went straight to the library. I had seen libraries on pictures, but they all didn't compare to this, a giant white building, could've been a church in my previous world. The sight of it was truly amazing and the inside didn't disapoint too. Books, books and even more books, everwhere you could look. Eldrin took me to the category called "Magic". We looked around but couldn't find much. Eldrin breathed out while searching, "Water, Fire, Wind, Fire... Everything but not Shadow...". We searched a bit more when I saw a pitch black book, it had something about it, like an aura that pulled me to it. I took it out, it read: "The ancient arts of Shadow magic". I looked over to Eldrin who was still searching, "Umm, Eldrin, I think I found it." I handed her the book and she looked at it and opened it. Inside were all sorts of spells listed ranging from Novice to Archmage class. "Yeah, I think this is it. Let's take it with us." While walking out another book caught my eye, most books were colored after the element though this one was orange leading into blue, I took it out and looked at it. It's title was "Fire magic for advanced students: Part 2, Blue fire." Blue fire, that seemed hella cool. Imagine coming to a fight and having blue fire around you. I turned to Eldrin, "Can I take this one too?" I asked her, she took the book from me and looked at it, "Blue fire magic? Since when can you use fire magic?", she sighed, "Gosh, I don't care just take it." And so we went to the librarian to register us taking it. That day I made 2 great finds. I already though about ways to use the blue fire. I was sure sooner or later I would return to the library to study more magics and since I can control the story, I'm sure I can easily find what I'm looking for but I'll stick to my plan of not altering the story all too much for now. So, Eldrin and I left the library, like she said that morning she had some personal buisness to attend to so she left me, a six year old at a restaurant and ordered some food. This was the first time I've tasted anything of this world that isn't my mother's cooking and let me tell you, it was more amazing that anything I've had in my previous world. After I finished eating Eldrin found me again and we walked back home.
