Chapter 22: Connecting Mondstadt with Mobile Phones

MondstadtNet had successfully brought the city into the connected age, and now it was time to take the next step: mobile phones. Satoshi stood in the innovation hub, staring at a table covered with electronic components, a blueprint for a prototype phone, and some alchemical crystals. The crowd at the innovation hub had grown since the launch of MondstadtNet. People were eager to see what new marvels were in the works, and today, Satoshi planned to give them something exciting.

Amber, as always, was there bright and early, her energy contagious. She bounced over to Satoshi, her eyes gleaming with curiosity. "Satoshi! Are we really building phones today? Like, actual mobile phones we can carry around?"

Satoshi smiled. "That's right, Amber. These phones will be connected to MondstadtNet, so people can make calls, send messages, and even access information no matter where they are."

Amber's face lit up. "That's so cool! I can already imagine calling everyone during my patrols—no more running around to deliver messages in person!"

Jean and Lisa arrived soon after, curious to see the progress on the mobile phones. Lisa examined the blueprint with interest. "You really do have quite the ambition, Satoshi. Mobile phones will make such a difference, especially for communication between the Knights."

Jean nodded in agreement. "Imagine how much easier it will be to coordinate patrols and share updates instantly. It'll change everything."

Satoshi felt a wave of pride at their support. "That's the idea. We're going to start by building a few prototypes today, and if all goes well, we'll make more for everyone to use."

Albedo joined them at the table, a thoughtful look on his face. "The challenge will be designing a power source that is both small and long-lasting. The alchemical crystals we used for the computer are effective, but we'll need something more compact for these mobile devices."

Satoshi nodded. "I've been thinking about that too. I think if we modify the alchemical crystals—perhaps using a mixture of electro energy and geo-stabilizing compounds—we might be able to create something that works."

Sucrose, who had been listening quietly, stepped forward with her usual shy smile. "I-I actually have an idea for that. If we use an alchemical condenser to focus the electro energy, we could reduce the size of the crystal and maintain the power output."

Satoshi's face lit up. "That's brilliant, Sucrose! Let's give it a try."

The innovation hub was abuzz with activity as they got to work. Sucrose and Albedo worked on modifying the alchemical crystals, while Amber helped Satoshi assemble the parts for the prototype phone. Jean and Lisa stood by, offering support and occasionally helping with the more delicate work.

"Careful with that connection, Amber," Satoshi said, his voice calm but focused. "If the wires aren't properly connected, the signal won't be strong enough."

Amber nodded, her tongue poking out slightly as she concentrated. "Got it, Satoshi. I think… there! It's connected!"

Satoshi checked her work, nodding in approval. "Perfect. Now, let's see if we can get the power source integrated."

Albedo approached with the modified alchemical crystal, his eyes filled with excitement. "We managed to reduce the size significantly while maintaining the energy stability. This should work perfectly for the phone."

Satoshi took the crystal, carefully placing it into the phone's power compartment. He held his breath as he pressed the power button. For a moment, nothing happened—then, the screen flickered to life, displaying a simple "Welcome" message.

Amber let out a cheer, throwing her arms around Satoshi. "It works! We did it, Satoshi!"

Jean smiled, her eyes filled with admiration. "This is a major milestone, Satoshi. Mondstadt is truly entering a new era."

Sucrose blushed, her smile shy but proud. "I-I'm glad I could help. It's amazing to see it actually working."

With the prototype phone working, Satoshi decided it was time to show the people of Mondstadt what they had created. He set up a small stage in the main square, and soon enough, a crowd had gathered, curious about the latest invention.

Satoshi stood on the stage, holding the prototype phone in his hand. Amber stood beside him, her excitement contagious as she waved to the crowd.

"Hello, everyone!" Satoshi called, gaining the crowd's attention. "Thank you for coming today. I'm excited to introduce Mondstadt's very first mobile phone. With this device, you'll be able to make calls, send messages, and stay connected with friends and family, no matter where you are."

He held up the phone, and the crowd murmured in awe. "This is just a prototype, but our goal is to make these available to everyone in Mondstadt. Imagine being able to call your loved ones while you're out on patrol, or send a message to your friends without needing a messenger."

Amber took the phone from Satoshi, grinning. "And it's really easy to use! Watch this." She dialed a number, and a few moments later, Sucrose, who was standing in the crowd with a second prototype, answered.

"H-Hello?" Sucrose's voice came through the speaker, and the crowd gasped in amazement.

Amber beamed. "See? It works! This is going to make life so much easier for everyone."

The crowd erupted in applause, and Satoshi felt a wave of pride wash over him. This was what he had been working for—to bring people together, to make their lives better, and to help Mondstadt step into the future.

Kaeya approached the stage, his usual playful grin in place. "So, Satoshi, does this mean I can prank call Diluc from anywhere now?"

Diluc, who was standing nearby, gave Kaeya a withering look. "I'd advise against it, Kaeya."

The crowd laughed, and Satoshi shook his head, amused. "Let's try to use these responsibly, alright, Kaeya?"

Venti suddenly appeared, his lyre in hand, and strummed a few cheerful notes. "Oh, a phone, a wondrous tone, connecting hearts no matter where they roam!"

Amber giggled, handing the phone back to Satoshi. "Venti's right. This really is amazing, Satoshi. Thank you for bringing this to Mondstadt."

Satoshi looked out at the crowd, at the smiles and excitement on their faces, and felt a deep sense of fulfillment. They were building something incredible together—one step at a time.

"Alright, Mondstadt," he said, his voice filled with determination. "Let's keep moving forward—one invention, one connection, one dream at a time."

That evening, after the demonstration, Satoshi and his friends gathered at the innovation hub. The excitement of the day had yet to wear off, and everyone was in high spirits. Amber was practicing making calls with the prototype phone, while Albedo and Sucrose discussed ways to improve the design.

Lisa approached Satoshi, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "You really are changing Mondstadt, Satoshi. I have to admit, I didn't think I'd see the day when we'd be talking through a little box instead of using letters."

Satoshi smiled. "It's all thanks to everyone's help. I couldn't do any of this alone."

Jean nodded, her expression proud. "We're all in this together. And with every step we take, Mondstadt becomes stronger, more connected, and more united."

Venti strummed his lyre, his voice soft as he sang, "One connection leads to many, and many lead to more, a future bright and plenty, for Mondstadt to explore."

The room filled with laughter and conversation, and Satoshi felt a warmth in his heart. There was still so much more to do, so many more dreams to bring to life, but for now, he was content. They were building something wonderful—together.

"Alright, Mondstadt," he thought to himself, looking around at his friends. "Let's keep moving forward—one connection, one invention, one dream at a time."
