Village Mysteries

The next day, Troye and Dazaree went to the market early to see what had happened the day before, but when they arrived, everyone was acting as if nothing had happened. They were expecting police barricades outside the market but they didn't see anything.

"Maybe we should go ask a vendor that works here," Troye suggested, making Dazaree nod.

"Yeah."

The two looked around and approached a woman who's selling fruits in a stall inside.

"Ahm excuse me," Dazaree smiled at the middle-aged woman.

The vendor smiled back and replied, "Yes? What do you need? I have apples, oranges, and pineapples, all at low prices."

Dazaree looked at Troye and he took some money from his wallet and said, "Can we get a kilo of your apples, please?"

The woman's smile widened and immediately weighed a kilo of apples and handed it to them. "Thank you so much!"

Troye beamed at her and replied, "Thank you so much but there is something we want to ask."

"Oh sure, sure! What is it, son?"

He smiled and asked, "We are just curious about what happened here yesterday. Perhaps you can tell us more about it?"

The vendor looked at them confused, "What do you mean by that, son? Did something happen here yesterday?"

Troye and Dazaree looked at each other after hearing what the woman said.

"Hmm, are you here selling yesterday?" Dazaree queried.

The woman nodded at her, "Yes, I am always here to sell."

"But you didn't hear about the incident that happened here yesterday?" Troye questioned.

The woman shook her head, "I didn't know an incident occurred here yesterday, if there was, I should've heard about it already."

The two looked at each other confusedly then thanked the woman. They tried asking the other vendors inside the market but they all had the same answer so Troye and Dazaree eventually stopped investigating.

Dazaree heaved a deep sigh as they walked out of the market.

"This is so weird.." she said.

"Yes, it is."

"Do you think the students were lying yesterday?" Dazaree asked.

"No, they are not," Troye replied.

Dazaree's eyes widened as she looked at Troye.

"Then you mean, the people in the market are lying?"

Troye shook his head and replied, "None of them are lying."

Confused, Dazaree queried, "What do you mean? I don't understand."

Both of them are now walking back to the cafeteria while they are conversing.

"All of what they said is based on their beliefs. The thing is, someone might have altered their memories. Someone with an ability to do so," he seriously said.

"Is that possible?"

Troye looked at her and said, "Nothing is impossible in this world, Dazaree."

Meanwhile, Demian awoke and realized that he had fallen asleep inside the abandoned house. It's already afternoon and he's starting to get hungry so he decided to return to the apartment to see if the people had left.

He was at the end of the street and could see the apartment's street from where he was. Police are investigating both inside and outside the house.

There is a police tape barricade outside, so no one can enter while people are curious about what happened.

Demian is wondering if they are looking for him and his mother. He thought that it would be better if they won't see him so he'll avoid being questioned. Besides, they won't understand what happened.

He looked around and saw a clothesline near him from a house nearby. There is a black cap hanging in there so he simply took it to use it as a disguise. Good thing there are no people around where he is because almost everyone outside is curious in front of the apartment

Just as Demian put on the cap he took, he noticed a man standing not far away on the other side of the street.

He stared intently at the man who was looking outside the apartment and watching. He's wearing a black t-shirt and pants and also has a black hat. Demian's eyes widened when he realized who the mas was.

"He's the fcking guy who killed my mother! I can't be mistaken," he thought.

Falcon smirked when he saw Demian from the other side. He knew that the boy would be here and he intentionally let Demian see him.

On the other hand, Demian's anger started fueling up again as he gritted his teeth. This is his time to capture the man so he immediately runs in Falcon's direction but a car suddenly obstructs the way giving him no choice but to stop.

He tried to catch up with Falcon in the other street but the man was already gone.

"Tch, that assh*le," he blurted out.

He thought that it might be best this way. Looking for him without a proper plan would get him in trouble.

"That man probably showed up just for me to catch him and lead me to his trap," he pondered to himself.

Demian decided to just let him go for now because he can't afford to make another scene here knowing there are a lot of people in the area, especially the police. Besides, he's in no condition to fight.

"I'll let him live for now," he mumbled.

Later on, hunger took over him but he doesn't have any money right now because he can't go back to the apartment yet.

Demian doesn't want to borrow in the small stores here in the village either because they might recognize him.

He decided to go for a walk and went out of the village and tried to think of anyone that could help him but he couldn't.

"I do have few close classmates in school but I don't know where they live nor how to contact them because I just transferred to my current school for summer class since I missed a lot of subjects," he thought to himself.

Demian heaved a deep sigh and suddenly remembered Emily. "She can probably help me but I don't know how to contact her."

At this moment, he feels weak because of his hunger and excessive use of power. That's the reason why he fell asleep earlier.

From his position, he can see his current University as he watches the students come out of the University after a long day of class when a conversation between two women caught his attention.

"My kid had tantrums earlier because I didn't let her go to school." A woman in her 40s said.

"Oh, why?" The other woman who's with her said.

They stopped on the sidewalk to chat while Demian didn't look at them and just stared at the other people who were walking in the streets so that they wouldn't notice that he's listening to their conversation.

"I don't feel safe because of the recent incident." She said and sighed.

"Oh, the incident that happened to our neighboring village?" the woman asked.

"Yes. Didn't you watch the news? They suspected that the suicide bombing incident was caused by the terrorists."

The men self-destructed and it seems that they don't want to be exposed to the world.

"I did watch the news but that's just a suspicion. Also, the suspects are dead though, why are you still worried?"

"You never know what will happen. It might happen in our village too."

"Don't say that!"

"I just want to move out of this city."

They believed it was the work of terrorists and didn't have any idea that combat took place there last night. Demian doesn't think the government and media are aware of those men. What confuses Demian is that they only talked about what happened to the village but not in the market.

Well, it's possible that Falcon has been cleaning up their messes since he's still alive.
