CHAPTER TWO
After three days, the bad weather hasn't subsided because the strength of the wind has arrived; it's rare that the weather doesn't get stronger, but this is what Gean wants, because there are no disruptions for those who go on vacation because of the strength of the sea, and a storm always passes through their area. He truly wanted to be alone, so he planned his vacation around this time; he didn't want to be disturbed, so he avoided crowded areas to relax his mind and body, but his vacation was marred by a nuisance. When he enjoys archery and catching fish with his companion Randolph, they are at sea every day, even at night. During his vacation, he enjoys the sea and exclusively catches and eats fish, crabs, and shellfish. The girl's wound and feelings are fine, so she may speak to her and give her instructions on how to return to her homeland. He didn't want to finish a month's vacation that was also beneficial to him, so he went on vacation to relax.
He worked all the cooking and housekeeping as normal, as well as washing the garments he had taken off her. He did not, however, protest because he was a burden to the girl because he had saved her. That was the enormous responsibility and attitude instilled in them by his father, a former Chief of Police in his area. He inherited his father's helpfulness, respect, and responsibility, especially when it came to helping. That is why he chose to work in public rather than private, where he could have earned more money. Like his father, it was the service they could provide to those in need that was important.
Gean was making their lunch as the girl was playing with Randolph on the beach; he had picked it up so they could chat so they wouldn't try to talk to him; he wants to talk but avoids it. He wanted her wound to heal before they could properly communicate, so they could be clear and understand each other. They would talk the next day, even if the weather was still a little hot, and he would take it to the bus station to the embassy in the country from whence she came. Shells adobo are now on his menu; he has peeled and sliced raw papaya for the component that softens the flesh of the shells, as well as onion, garlic, ginger, and chile. He cooked the ingredients first, then followed the shells he had stewed earlier, and last, after five minutes, he followed the papaya. He whistled Randolph after a time of cooking. Randolph already knew his call, so he barked and didn't hinder the girl from returning home. KC was still impressed at the dog's intelligence, pulling the hem of his dress to go home, he merely followed with a smile.
Randolph, her constant companion and confidante, because the man may be watching over her. She didn't bother talking to him, thus they didn't get along when they were face to face every time they ate, because he was constantly distant. When he's not at sea, he's in the mountains harvesting root crops, bananas, or veggies, and he always has a fresh coconut fruit ready for her, which she adores. She doesn't know herself this time, which is why she falls in love with a rude man she doesn't know. And she appears to have forgotten about finding her parents because of the weird emotion that stirs her heart for the man, who is already falling in love with her, whether she confesses it or not. He was usually with Randolph in swimming and when she got deep, he dragged her to the shallow portion.
They noticed Gean spooning rice and a dish, and KC assisted in preparing the dish that they will use for food. It looks like this dish is delicious again, every meal they eat is really delicious, the same dish every day but it doesn't seem boring and she might gain weight if she stays for a long time, she smiled at the thought of staying here for a long time, blushed she looked when the man noticed her smiling, at the same time the smile recovered from her lips and she ate immediately. But when she raised his face, she noticed Gean praying, which made her even more humiliated, so she temporarily stopped sucking. She forgot he was praying before eating, which is why her mind wanders. They are now eating after praying, and because they were not offering previously, she volunteered to eat. She shook her head unhappily and groaned while eating, thinking that the man was still upset with her because of the false charge.
She had no idea he had finished eating and was no longer in the kitchen; she was genuinely curious about this man; he ate so quickly that you wouldn't see him leave the seat. She was also unaware that he had followed her out of the house. Randolph and she were the only one's dining; after eating, she put the food away and attempted to wash the dishes, because she could see it wash and wanted to copy what he was doing. There are many more dishes for tonight, but she only tried one, as well as fried rice that the man roasted, but the taste of its roasted, always mingled with fish or shells. She also cleaned the table, sink, and even the kitchen, as well as the bedroom and living room. She enjoyed the cleaning and felt very light, as if she were dreaming that she would just live here, but then she remembered her parents and felt sad again. She decided to take a shower in the bathroom after cleaning up and resting because she was sweating despite the wind and rain.
She sat by the living room window after taking a bath and getting dressed, combing her hair and looked around, but her eyes were looking for someone and she was disappointed not to see him. Her hair was dry, but she still couldn't find the man she was seeking for, so she chose to sleep because the breeze was drowsy, she was full, and she had just gotten a clean bath. Gean is racing rapidly because he appears to have disturbed the honey bee's house that he did not see, and because he is taking the leaves of lubi-lubi or Ficus, his favorite vegetable. He already had a lot of stuff, which is why he was tempted to a lubi-lubi tree with attractive leaves. At the same moment, he was drowning in the sea and wondered if the bees were still buzzing around his head. He was easily stung by two bees in the nape and two in the back, and he knew he'd get a fever afterwards. When he went up to the water, the bees were gone, so he decided to return home. He had to get home before he got a fever and couldn't sleep in his uncle's yard, which was still rather far from their house. He went back to grab the mud crab he had captured earlier; it was exquisite cooked in coconut milk and mixed with vegetables.
KC heard Gean's approach and peered; he was carrying veggies and crustaceans, which is why he had vanished earlier. Randolph didn't stop barking as if something was wrong, she looked at the man, his body was languid and his neck was red, as if he had been bitten, she thought to herself, couldn't the snake have bitten him? She was frightened because she noticed two painful cuts on his neck. She went downstairs, met the man with wide eyes, got his veggie, and then tossed the crab into the pail. Then she spoke to the man who was going insane, not answering her questions; perhaps he didn't understand, because she just heard "nipper" then "remove," pointing to the nape. She questioned herself, "what nipper and remove?" She understood, so she looked for a nipper, but she couldn't find anything. She remembered the medication kit, so she took it out, and there was a nipper inside.
When she returned, the man was apparently asleep on the wooden bench. She attempted to lift the dress, but it was too tight on her body, so she slashed the man's dress with scissors. She was taken aback by what she saw behind it; there were also two bites or stings; she remembered their session on insect bites, and the bee reminded her of it. She took the nipper and removed the tick that was caught in the back and nape, her flesh almost burnt by the man's body's intense heat. She took a small basin and a towel, filled it with lukewarm water and alcohol, and used soap to clean the man's back, Then, she checked in the medicine cabinet for ointment and a bandage. But she was unsure about how they were bandaging because she hadn't focused on seminars, so she kept nibbling now, "ahhhh...I can do this," she thought to herself, it's crucial to find a treatment for this man.
She attempted to lay the man down, but he was so heavy that Randolph was already assisting her. She approached another bench, and Randolph tugged one of her hands, forcing Gean to lie down. KC, fatigued and out of breath, smiled and waved the dog's tail, possibly pleased with what they were doing to his master. She forced the man to sit and then attempted to lift him on his back; he was far too heavy, but she persisted even though her bones appeared to be broken, and she slowly carried him up to the living room, where she took a sheet and a pillow because she didn't think she could even carry him up to the bedroom. She was searching for something to wear when she realized she would have to undress the man. But she needed to change his clothes since his fever was getting worse, and she remembered what it had done to her. He lifted her to the far shore and then undressed her naked? Now, let's go, she thought, I can get retribution for what you did to me, she thought with a smile.
She took off his clothes, glanced at the extremely perfect body, stroked its hard muscle, rubbed what was on her mind, and continued undressing the man's garments. Now that there is only underwear left, how can she replace it when she can't see his property? Randolph was still watching and wagging his tail, clearly pleased with what she was doing. She sighed and closed her eyes as she removed the man's underwear, but she could still feel his behind, which roused her nerves. Randolph would have barked and she would have stopped thinking about anything else. She closed her eyes and put on the man's undergarments. After assuming that he was already wearing it, she gazed at the scratches on his behind and thought to herself, "Wow." She unfastened his shorts before putting them on him. Finally, she was exhausted and even thinking of the negative thoughts, so she took out his stripped clothing and the basin she used to wipe him. She took a glass and filled it with lukewarm water, she found an anti-biotic pill, she pushed the man to sit down and howled, and when he sat down, he leaned on her chest and she gave him lukewarm water.
She stared closely at his handsome face, the most flushed since she hadn't seen him smoking, even though his complexion wasn't like their mestizo complexion, but it was extremely handsome and attractive. She didn't seem to be able to stop herself from loving him, she slowly lowered her lips to his, feeling if his lips would move but there was no reaction, of course he had a fever and she was taking advantage of it, she was embarrassed of herself and got up, went to the bedroom, and placed a blanket on him. Because of their culture, her friends only kissed her on the cheek the first time she could kiss a man on the lips, but she had never been kissed on the lips, not even by her boyfriend. But she still kissed him voluntarily, and she sighed at her actions. She headed to the kitchen, wondering about what to cook, how to fire the wood, and how they would eat now. Gean had brought her some vegetables, but she had no idea how to cook them. She took the ingredients and simply sliced them so that when Gean awoke, he could take care of the cooking.
There is no problem if Gean has a fever because he is used to having a fever and doesn't care; he merely tried to tell the girl what to do with him, thinking she would ignore him. But he made a mistake; she persisted on raising him up here and then dressing him; he just smiled at what she did to him while kissing his lips; he wanted to kiss back but decided not to in case it was evident that he was pretending he didn't know she was doing it. It's still early, maybe three o'clock in the afternoon; later, at four thirty, he'll boil the mud crab he's going to cook. He could smell the ingredients she was slicing as he felt the girl spark the fire but didn't know how. He dozed off, most likely due to the fever and medicine the girl had given him.
KC, on the other hand, isn't sure how to cook; she'll just fry the dried fish for a dish later; the dried fish is still delicious, but she's having difficulties lighting the burner. At least she believed it was still early; she would only cook about four or five o'clock. She went upstairs after washing her hands, past the sleeping guy, and felt his forehead and neck; his fever was still high. She returned to the tiny basin and towel, and he placed it on its forehead before entering the room. She was so exhausted from lifting the man that it appeared she would have a fever later on because her whole hurt, particularly her back and hip. She lay down, intending to take a nap first, and promptly fell asleep.
Gean dozed off for a time, but about five o'clock he awoke with his fever considerably reduced, so he got up and went to the kitchen to prepare. He started the stove and heated the water, cleaned the mud crab for their dinner and left it aside, and then sliced the lubi-lubi and the fixings. After the water had boiled, he poured it into the cup, then into the coffee, then into the thermos, and the remainder into the mud crab. He then sifted the rice, cracked the coconut, and began scraping for the mud crab to cook. When KC heard he was scraping coconuts, she got up. When she came out of the room, his patient was gone, so she went outside and saw him scraping.
"Hey! Are you completely insane? " She confronted the man who was scraping with his back turned. "You are still sick? Are you all right now? You should not move and should rest, you are…" she couldn't finish because he replied.
"Don't worry, I'm fine now; I can't simply lie down all night; what are we going to eat, and who will cook if I don't move?" Gean responded to the lovely lady.
"I, I can cook," KC said hesitantly.
"You can cook, but how do you do it?" "You can't even build a fire on the stove; I may have had a fever earlier, but I still feel sharp around me," the young man explained.
"You mean," the girl didn't say anymore since she was embarrassed and blushing after kissing the man on the lips.
"What do you mean? Gean was aware that the girl had kissed him, but he refused to tell her because she was already ashamed. "I feel what you've done to me, you bring me up to the living room, change my clothes, and give me medicine," Gean added.
"Ahhh... okay, so you remember that and now we're even," the girl said meekly, almost not hearing what she said. She would have questioned if he recalled and felt that she kissed him, but her shame won out, so she kept quiet and went to the man, then she caressed his forehead as well as the wrist on his neck, still hot but not as intense as before, practically scorched by severe heat. "Are you certain you're okay?" KC assured her that the man was staring at her face, and she matched his gaze, sensing that everyone was waiting to see what she would do. KC could smell the aroma of what he was preparing five minutes later, she was always just enjoying every cuisine Gean cooked, she had forgotten the taste of the social foods she was used to.
She was so amazed with the man's cooking, the pace, or she was just daydreaming that she didn't notice the man had completed cooking. Gean set a dish in front of her, which shocked her because it had never done so before, and she felt happy. She had never seen this type of crab before; it had hair on its tongs, she smelled it, and it tasted excellent, although not quite like the ones he captured in the sea. She stared at the man's food, which was so good that she began eating it. It was so delicious that she continued eating it. As usual, the man ate quickly without realizing it since her attention was drawn to the fresh meal in front of her. Gean peeled a ripe pineapple and placed it on the table; she still hadn't finished eating, which made her wonder why she ate more when she used to eat less, perhaps because she wanted to get stronger or because she tried new dishes. She cleaned and washed their dishes voluntarily, as well as the cooking and kitchen utensils. Many more dishes were left over, ready for breakfast the next day, so she cooked them on the stove with a bit extra fire, as she could see Gean doing.
KC awoke at midnight because something seemed odd; before going to sleep, she noticed Gean sleeping on the bench because he refused to sleep in the living room despite her insistence because his temperature was still high. So, she got out of bed, went into the living room and kitchen, but the man was nowhere to be found. Randolph's tail wagged when he spotted her, but he was dejected and morose that his boss had abandoned him again. She wondered where that man was and why he couldn't just relax in the house. She looked at the spear, flashlight, and container he was holding, and they were all gone. Is that man a robot? "Is your boss a robot?" she inquired Randolph. She walked back to bed, but she peered out the window and couldn't see anything because it was so dark outside. If she could have followed the man, she would have, but she was fearful of snakes on the road or encountering an evil creature, so she just lay down and waited for Gean to get home.
Gean, who is busy catching fish in the shallows of the water, is only keeping a few of his catches for now. He captures the crabs alive in order to preserve their flesh, and he also ties them so that they do not escape. He merely wasn't on the other side of their field; he looped around because his body was still aching from stings and he might not be able to carry too much weight. He'll travel to the other side tomorrow night because it's better to catch there than here in front of their farm. But he was already halfway through; he checked his watch and realized he had been at sea for an hour. He just keeps doing what he's doing; if there's a crab, he captures it alive; if there's a fish, squid, or octopus, he uses a spear. He walked around for another hour before deciding to return home because the container was nearly full.
Randolph barked as he approached the home, wagging his tail as he got closer. KC, on the other hand, was surprised by Randolph's barking because she knew his boss had arrived. She stood up and welcomed Gean, as if she was upset or concerned about the young man.
"Are you crazy? She inquired pleasantly of the man. "You had a fever this afternoon, and yet you drag yourself to night fishing?" she said stiffly of the man.
Nothing, the man merely walked past her and into the kitchen, spilling the latter into the sink. The crabs were separated in the sack as he began selecting the fish, squid, and octopus. KC noticed many types of fish; is this man so good and fast at catching fish that it doesn't matter if the pain is carried by a bee sting? The girl's head was filled with questions. Gean sorted his catches and stored them away from cats and wild cats. Randolph remains silent until he is given food. He went outside and washed the well with the lantern after installing the traps. I don't suppose the man didn't want to bother with her, maybe he didn't want to dispute so he just let her go, especially because she was exhausted and then got a fever. When Gean entered the house, he went to the restroom and dressed; when he came out of the bathroom, he noticed a coffee mixture on the table; he knew it was for him because KC was already sipping her own coffee.
"Does this belong to me? He inquired of the girl, who appeared astonished.
"Huh? Yes, it is, and I already have one," she said, smiling.
They were both quiet while drinking coffee, waiting for someone to break the silence. Gean thought he wasn't sleepy yet, and KC agreed; now he'll talk about it.
"Are you already getting strength?" he initially inquired of the girl. Despite her amazement at the inquiry, the girl responded.
"Certainly! "I can now move freely, and I've been swimming for the previous few days," she answered to the young man's question.
"Okay, prepare yourself; the next day, I will accompany you to the terminal and give you directions to your country's embassy," said the young man like an arrow to her heart. She remains silent because speaking may cause her to cry. She has no idea how she feels; why is she sorry at the young man's statement when she should be delighted since she can go home? She went straight to bed after going up to the room without even addressing the young man's query. Why is she feeling so heavy? Why was she upset by what he said? She was in tears at the possibility of leaving this island, despite the fact that she had just been here for over two weeks, but she appeared to enjoy the solitude, the surroundings, Randolph, and... the man. She fell asleep with a tinge of sadness. Gean, on the other hand, was perplexed by the girl's actions; didn't she genuinely want to go home and locate her parents, and why did he see her sorrowful expression after he stated what he said? It was still on his mind until he fell asleep. Surprise!
Gean awoke early and then went about preparing something to cook for their breakfast. After cooking the rice, he cleaned the fish he caught the night before, the others he dried so that it would not spoil and he would expose it to the sun, he made bamboos that the fish would expose he put in the sea because there was no tree barrier, and so on that had not yet been robbed by animals such as wild cats or dogs. He wonders whether the girl still doesn't get up at eight o'clock after breakfast, the dish is grilled fish and squid, she used to be awake at seven o'clock and sometimes even assists in the kitchen while having coffee. He assumed she awoke last night, but she still didn't agree with what he claimed will be presented at the terminal to her country's embassy. He positioned the dishes on the table and set two cups alongside the thermos and two coffees. He was hesitant to wake the female, who was probably sleeping, so he decided to let her go first. Meanwhile, in the room, KC had been tossing and turning on the bed; it wasn't chilly, but she seemed to have a fever and couldn't get up; perhaps because she had pushed Gean to be lifted the day before, so she went back to sleep. Gean couldn't help but wonder, so he walked to the girl's room, called her, and remained motionless. She was still wrapped up in a blanket and appeared to be growing cold.
"Hey, wake up, it's almost nine o'clock, let's have breakfast," he asked the girl who was still motionless. He took the blanket off her head and tapped her on the shoulder, wondering why her body was so hot, he rubbed the girl's forehead and neck, she had a fever. He took the two ends of the mosquito net and set them aside before going down and getting a small basin filled with lukewarm water and a towel. When he returned to the room, the girl was still, so he positioned her in the bed and began wiping her with lukewarm water. The young man's concern and care for her made the girl very happy, and it reinforced her own emotions that she genuinely wanted it. She didn't seem to be upset, but she didn't appear to want to get better so the young man wouldn't take her to their embassy. Gean tries to wipe the back of KC's neck, but it appears that he can hug the girl, so KC hugged a hand on the arm of the guy who swallowed it, especially though he was wearing a flimsy nightgown that scraped his bra. When she heard the young man swallow, she grinned.
"Eat your breakfast and take your medicine," Gean advised. She didn't say anything as Gean removed the wipe from her face and turned away, the girl's lips still smiling. She bent over so the young man could adjust her when he arrived, even if it was only for a few minutes, as though the time she had been anticipating had arrived. She heard the young man return, bring her food, and then sit beside her bed. "Here, eat your breakfast and sip your coffee," Gean said, but the girl didn't move or respond; she was out of breath since she couldn't relax in her pajamas, but she thought she could control herself when she was naked. He approached the girl and then fixed the bed, making her sit down for a time to eat while pretending to squint the girl's eyes so that the young man could take care of her. It hit her, the food tasted like she couldn't stop eating it, but she liked what the young man was doing, taking care of her. Gean had almost finished the rice on the girl's plate, so he believed he could give her medicine; she seemed to have trouble with that type of meal, and the crucial thing was that her stomach was full before taking the medicine. He put the food dish away and went to the sink after handing her the pills. KC would have protested that she still wanted to, but the young man might have noticed that she was only pretending to be unable to eat. It irritates her to pretend; the grilled squid is still excellent, but she'll get it back later; she still enjoys squid and crab, as long as, all seafoods are probably her favorite, especially if Gean prepared them for her.
At the same time that Gean was eating at the table and Randolph was eating on his own, it appeared that his meeting with the girl he was supposed to accompany at the bus terminal would be delayed, and it appeared that his conscience would not allow him not to deliver her to the embassy, so he decided to just accompany her, she might go somewhere else, and she might even go wrong. He rested in the hut for a while after eating, storing, and cleaning the food, and occasionally looking at his dried fish. His cousin Leandro suggested him to return there after his trip since he understood his predicament. He also knew there was a woman there, but he didn't realize she had been brought here by accident, as long as he knew he had a really lovely roommate. He even mocked him about being invited to the wedding, and he chuckled at what his cousin said.
He immediately thought, as if he was growing used to not having a partner, for several years. He smiled as he counted on his finger the three years since he and Rebecca had separated. He remembered what had happened when he came across her condo and shocked the person who was kissing someone inside her condo; she may have forgotten that he knew the code to the property, so he entered. There was no explanation, they split up the next day, the girl was still pleading, but she wasn't a fool, and she wasn't lazy. It's a good thing he didn't marry her; he was intending to bring her here to introduce him to his family and marry her; it's a good thing he discovered early on that he can't marry her because she's richer and more attractive than him. Anyway, he assumed it was the same for the two of them, both wealthy, unlike him, who didn't have his own house yet and was staring at the old automobile his brother had given him. He awoke to Randolph barking, so he returned to the house. He saw KC slowly walking down the stairs, so he backed her up to C.R., and once she went inside, he waited outside. When she finally came out, he dragged her back to her room, her body still burning.
"You'll take your medicine again after lunch, and I'm sorry if you got sick because you helped me yesterday," he apologized to the child. She simply smiled at him before turning to lie down. He went down and then took warm water and a towel again, he wiped her body again to lower the fever, he approached the girl and said that he would wipe warm again, she just nodded, he wiped it like before, its sleeping bag was a little wet because it was already sweaty, he said goodbye to take a replacement dress there in her bag, she just nodded again. He returned and handed up the dress, but she remained motionless.
"Would you like me to change your clothes?" Gean inquired softly.
"You can, why hesitate since you've already seen my nude body?" was her feeble rejoinder.
"It was misunderstood, you were unconscious at the time, and I needed to change your clothing because they were wet; this time, I'll ask your permission because you..." the girl interrupted him.
"It doesn't matter, I'm not mad at you and I didn't, I'm just very lucky that you had me in that horrible part of my life, and I was very thankful and I will forever be cherished having you in my difficult moments of my life, thank you very much and I am really sorry for what I had said before, it was just a misunderstanding," KC said passionately and truthfully on the inside. Gean just let go of the girl's nightgown before changing her garments. He stood up after changing and took off her naked garments, stopping as she touched his arm.
"Thank you," the girl said as she looked at the young man.
"It's fine, and thank you for what you did yesterday; even though I was heavy, you forced yourself to lift me," Gean responded graciously.
"But why did you still force yourself to go fishing last night when you were sick?" the girl inquired, concerned.
"Don't be worried; I'm OK." It's just a natural thing for us who grew up and live here, and everyday illness isn't a huge concern for us. It's simply like any other typical physical encounter on this island." He explained to the young lady. "We've had bites from bees, snakes, sea urchins, and various dangerous living organisms on this island," he added.
"Wow! And to think that it has the potential to kill you but appears to be nothing out of the ordinary? My God, I can't... I can't... she didn't complete what she was about to say since the young man had already cut her off.
"You can't live here," the young man said sadly. "You're not interested; living here is like living between life and death, and you can't do it," the young man said.
"No, I mean, I can't believe you're still alive in this location," the girl clarified. "As long as I can eat, I can live wherever." "This place is a heaven, extremely serene, and I like it here," KC stated tearfully, because the young man seemed to be pushing her away, because he declared she couldn't live here. The chest hurt, but she understood the young man's explanation, but she wished for him to like her despite her social standing, and she couldn't keep back the tears, so she looked away from the person she was speaking to. She believes he is attempting to persuade her to leave and return home; she is unsure why her heart is resisting, and she believes that what she desires will occur. She used to want to go home because of her parents' condition, which she still doesn't understand, but now she seems to want to change. Why does she seem to want to stay here any longer? She enjoys the environment and the silence as long as she is with this man. Gean departed because the temperature in the room had risen; he went downstairs to the kitchen and began preparing lunch.
