Day 10: A royal visit

Going on with the fights of the previous day. Dennis woke up early around this time. There was no smell of blood to disturb him of enjoying a wonderful morning. Around this hour, Dennis was outside, marking the grounds with a line by using a tree branch.

"Time to use a new magic…"

He got into position and concentrated magic on the stick. And as a light green energy filled the line. It then vanished as if there was nothing there.

"That should do the trick…"

Dennis said to himself and headed over to the golem. He sat next to it and waited for something to show up.

"What are we… Doing...?"

The golem asks. Curios to what Dennis had planned.

"Don't worry, you will see soon enough."

Dennis said to the golem. Intrigue with his plan. He had a notebook and a wooden pencil in hand and waited for something to happen until it was time.

Another Yarama, same as the ones before it showed and was charging over to the line that Dennis made. As he went over the line. A gust of strong winds blew by and sent the Yarama away.

"Note to self… Yarama's are weak to wind and fire. Have a low defense to anything physical by weapons."

Dennis writhed everything that he said in his notebook and the golem understood what Dennis was doing.

"Research…?"

The golem asked.

"Yeah, got to keep this written in case someone takes my place and has to go through everything that dealt with up to this point. Besides, this will help other people in the near future…"

Dennis then sensed someone approaching, but couldn't tell from what direction. He looked all around and even got on top of the golem to get a better view, but nothing until he heard a faint voice in his mind.

"So, how's your day going?"

The voice asked Dennis. He wasn't able to recognize it at first and got worried that he was being watched from a far.

"Who is this?"

He asks. Trying to confirm if it was someone out to get him or another traveler.

"My apologize, it's me, queen Celeste. I was just passing by and felt your mana up here."

Celeste said to Dennis. She then appeared into particles of light and surprised Dennis from behind. Making him be surprised and fall towards the ground, but the golem catches Dennis with bots in its arms.

"Thanks G…"

"No… Problem…"

The golem then placed Dennis on the ground. Allowing him to get in place and kneel to the queen.

"Please, you shouldn't be too formal. I came today as a friend."

Celeste said, and Dennis got up from the ground. She then vanished into light and reappeared right in front of Dennis. Scaring him once again. Dennis took a step back and almost had a heart attack.

"You really need to stop appearing in front of people like that!!"

"Was it that bad? People all around me got used to me appearing out of the blue. The only time they get scared is at night."

She then started laughing. Amused with what she can accomplish.

"Anyway, I'm here to congratulate your for passing the test. I'm even surprised that you tamed a golem. We don't see that every day."

"That reminds me… Why did I have to go through the dark woods to get here, anyway?"

"Well… I wanted to see if you could handle yourself in a dangerous place, since the harbingers are after you. And wanted to recruit you as one of my specialists."

Celeste then offered a letter of invitation to Dennis. She waiting to see if he will accept it or not.

"I guess I have no other choice… Back around my place, it was just studying and hanging out with friends… Never got the chance to be freed while having emotions from running away. I guess this is what I wished for…"

Dennis said while taking the invitation from the queen's hands.

"Good, then I'll be seeing you soon."

Celeste said. She then turned into particles of light and soon disappeared without a trace.

Dennis didn't know what to do for this day. After the queen left, Sara showed up, was standing by the door of the house and was waiting for someone to respond. Dennis saw her and wondered what she was doing here, but she placed a basket by the door and soon left.

"Time to get some stuff done…"

Dennis said to himself, and trained in the ways of magic. Being supervised by the golem for hours with no rest. During that time, Dennis felt that the ice spell he used on the golem to patch the hole he made melted away.

"Dennis… The ice is… Gone…"

The golem said. Dennis approached the golem and saw that he can patch it up again by using magic. By casting frost, Dennis patched the hole and ended his training.

"Thank you…"

"It's no problem. I wish I could use earth magic to help fix the damage that I caused, but it will take me about a week. My mana flow is stable, but my capacity is low…"

Dennis said. Wondering how to increase his mana capacity to use more magic with no problems.

"Have you consumed… Any crystals…?"

The golem asked Dennis, and he did not know what they meant.

"No… Is it like a magic crystal?"

"Yes… Many crystals are… Found underground… Each one increases… The user's mana…. Capacity… Or element…"

The golem said. It continued talking about what each crystal can do and it was described by color. There are many crystals across the land, getting one of these can sell for a high value. Each correspond by an element and can be identified by color. For example; a fire crystal had a distinct orange color with a hint of red.

As the hours passed, Dennis was a sleep in the golems arms until it was nighttime. He woke up and heard the call of the wolves. It gave him a sense of danger and head back inside the house.

"Goodnight G."

"Goodnight…"

The golem then tilted its head down and went to sleep while Dennis was going inside the house. He went into his room and went to sleep, ending his day.
