Chapter 37: The Town of Clifford

The convoy had barely reassembled near the Amherst Cemetery when George heard a familiar voice crackling over the radio.

"We've got company," Raven said, her voice tight with tension as she surveyed the road behind them from her position atop their vehicle. "They're gaining again."

George glanced into the side mirror, his gut twisting as he caught a glimpse of movement in the distance. The goblins, tiny black dots on the horizon, were regrouping. There were more of them now, their numbers swelling as they poured out from the ruins of Amherst and began closing in once again.

"We can't outrun them forever," Jackie muttered from the backseat, her knuckles white as she gripped her rifle. "They're too damn fast."

"Yeah, and they're not gonna stop," Lucy added, her green eyes focused on the rearview mirror. "We need a new plan, George."
