Chapter 17: The First Severance Mission
The following day dawned with a crisp chill in the air, the sun rising over New Haven as the Severance Team gathered at the edge of the forest. Clad in dark, practical clothing and armed with their weapons and supplies, each member was prepared for what lay ahead. George took a moment to glance over his team, Madison, Elijah, Raven, Akari, Lucy, and John. Each one was focused, their faces set with determination. They all understood the gravity of their mission.
Akari reviewed her notes, going over the symbols and the dismantling sequence they'd devised. "We've studied the symbols from the first site and have mapped out the likely locations of several more. This is our first real test of the process. If we're careful and follow the sequence, we should be able to disrupt the magic without triggering any defenses."
