Gaining Sentience in The Story

I am Friend B, I live by a script but for some reason after many retries I have gained sentience. Since then, I have lived in a never ending isolation. This is a story somewhat inspired by "I Started To Gain Sentience In An Eroge" by Parmesan. I don't update regularly, and I do this for fun.

Lunch

Lunch time. The bell rang at exactly 12:50 pm as it should in the script

I get up from my seat and exit stage, but I wait just outside the door to make sure the script is playing out correctly.

Unexpectedly, Kei snuck behind me, but moved past me as if I were a ghost. It was odd that she was present in this scene as her line should not appear here but later in the day.

Sustenance is important to me too, though. So, while this new scene unfolds, I take out my lunchbox and start eating.

This unexpected event is not new to me, as this has happened in the past. Someone who doesn't have lines in a scene appearing out of nowhere. All I must do is ensure that the overall course of the plot is not significantly ruined.

Satoru is currently talking to Sumiko, this part at-least is within the script

"Satoru-kun! Do you want to eat lunch together?"

Sumiko asks coyly with a slight blush.

"Sure!"

Replies Satoru

But before they can leave, Kei enters

"Satoru~! Eat lunch with me!"

She says rambunctiously, her command heard by everyone.

Satoru faced with a dilemma nervously scratches the back of his head and suggests,

"Why don't we eat together?"

He then looks around and stops at Sango and Kohaku, and then asks if they would like to eat together too.

"Sure~" Kohaku says excitedly

While Sango exhales

"It better not waste my time"

I, enjoying my delectable sandwich, am intrigued, and amused by these series of events. Where will this go this time? While I keep in mind that no matter what, anything can happen at any time. However, I do not follow them, it would be pointless to try to assist Satoru when there are that many love interests around him. Attempting that would be suicide, which I am not a stranger to.

Going outside, to a bench shaded by a tree. It's a cozy place to eat, as the temperature is a nice 15 ° C outside with a slight breeze. The area is warmed up by the sun, and the tree provides protection from a stronger embrace of the sun. This is a perfect spot to eat lunch. I ruminate in my thoughts while sipping on my packed juice.

What should I change if anything this time? There have been attempts where all I did was let Satoru run his course while I relaxed like this. If anything, this script is beautiful. Heh, maybe that is the overall theme, in beauty there is danger.

I look at the sky, a delightful blue sky that is adorned by cotton like clouds. The sun hangs in the sky and is not too bright and not too dull today, and that is every day. A soft sway in the tree above me announces the wind's presence. I finish my lunch and am greeted by someone unexpected.

Her hand is outstretched to greet me.

Okamoto Sango.

"Hello, Friend B."

Flabbergasted I remain still, my parasympathetic nervous system seems to have activated my flight or fight response. Time comes to a crawl, my hands become sweaty, and my neck becomes itchy. My throat tightens up.

"So, Friend B it seems you and I have similar tastes in locale"

I can't think of how to respond, I am struck still. I wish I could dig a hole and hide.

Sango tilts her head, confused at my reaction.

I quickly sober up and take her hand, shaking it at a steady pace while laughing.

"Sango-san, I hope you don't mind that I took your spot then haha-"

"Next lunch we should eat here and talk about the other locations. Wouldn't that be nice? Don't you say Friend B, doesn't that sound delightful."

The hair on my neck stood erect, this woman was nothing but trouble and her delineation from the script was terrifying.

I manage to nervously squeak out

"Sorry… I don't feel well"

I ran to the nurse's office, without looking behind me. When I came to at the nurse's office my back was drenched in sweat and my legs were nervously shaking, my body was trained to evade these women after countless failed attempts to save Satoru or another love interest. Although my body looks in-shape they can overpower me quickly. It seems after running the gauntlet in my previous lives, my body has gained a sixth sense to avoid these women.

I breathe a sigh of relief, taking a second to observe the nurse's office proves to me that everything is as it should be in here according to the script. I walk towards one of the beds and I collapse onto it. My all or nothing response from my body has taken its toll. The trauma from previous lives still haunts my body despite how much I may have forgotten.

Knowing that I do not have any more line to deliver for the rest of today, I close my eyes to take a quick nap. Besides that, nothing should go wrong in this attempt, it is the first day and Satoru has not done anything drastic. I close my eyes to let the sheets embrace my body until I fall asleep.

I wake up in a cold sweat, my back is more drenched in sweat than before. My breathing is steep, I get out of the cot and make my way back to class, feeling that something terrible happened.

Nothing happened.

The classroom is as it should be, except for Friend A. His stoic look is a far cry from his usual demeanor.

He looks at me and asks

"Is this all a game? For what reason do we suffer again and again like this? You and I are bestowed minor roles in an incredulous script. Who is Satoru, where does he come from? Who am I? Who are You?"

I grimaced at the thought of my identity being superficial and one dimensional. I knew that I was more than that; however, I seem to have deluded myself into believing this faux script.

"Have you gained an understanding of where you are at now? We live in a false world, that Satoru is the main character, and we are all extras with the intended purpose to serve him." My Friend's face contorted as he said this, and he covered his face with his hands to hide himself.

My Friend uncovered his face and revealed a face like mine. No, it was mine.

Huh?

I woke up half dazed on the same bed in the nurse's office. It was a dream.

I slowly got up from the bed feeling weary from the dream.

I shouldn't forget that I have a new identity since gaining sentience, no longer am I Friend A the Actor. I am now a free man to think and decide what role I want to be if any.

"How were your dreams, Friend B?" Sango asked with crescent like eyes.

Creation is hard, cheer me up!
