About the Enemy

"We're almost there!"

Upon hearing the sounds of gunfire in the distance, the people, anxious to help their own, gripped their weapons tightly and prepared for combat.

"I don't want all the enemies dead. Kill most of them, but leave three to five for interrogation!"

"Yes, sir!"

"How do you see this?"

Daryl, standing beside Dominic, wanted to say everything was fine, but the situation was so dire that he couldn't. He knew that since their people were under attack, if they didn't take it seriously, it would lead to significant allied casualties.

Just as Daryl expressed his concerns, Dominic thought the same. He had lost valuable intelligence when the drone, as a last resort to protect his people, crashed into an enemy convoy.

Meanwhile, the number of walkers on the way to their people had increased, and soon, a horde would form.

Seeing that they were almost at the point, Dominic took his radio and reported, "Zz... We will be precise, decisive, and lethal. Everyone outside is an enemy, but don't kill them all—I need some for interrogation. As for the walkers, I want them all dead until we've checked on our people."

"Understood, sir!"

...

"Let's go!" As they spotted the enemies ahead, Dominic and the others could see two anomalies rushing toward the people in the distance.

As the decision to press on was made, Dominic noticed the determination in the faces of all the soldiers, so he said nothing and continued advancing toward the targets.

While the gunfire continued, military trucks lined up behind them, and soldiers began to disembark in an orderly fashion while the Humvees took the lead.

Victor, commanding the battle outside, also ordered all soldiers to enter once the tear gas grenades were deployed, preparing for a decisive attack.

The soldiers, equipped with gas masks, quickly and smoothly entered the smoke. Soon, they spotted moving figures through the haze and unleashed a barrage of gunfire.

At the same time, part of their focus was on the monsters cutting down all the enemy soldiers.

Through the thick smoke, although Dominic couldn't see the enemy's situation clearly, he had a good sense of what was happening on the other side.

Evidently, though the enemies were civilians, they had skilled fighters who were now holding off numerous walkers quite well.

Dominic's group showed no mercy, launching a swift counterattack. With a single shot, Dominic killed one enemy who had just raised his head and wounded two more fighters to the right.

But Dominic knew the other side was doomed. After all, this was a dangerous battlefield. Even though he used the smoke to obscure the enemy's vision, it was just a small trick to help them close in on the enemy.

His eyes gleamed as he, standing far behind the assault group, fired casually, slowly turning his gaze toward Daryl.

"Spread out!"

Dominic understood that if he wanted to turn the tide of the battle and control the situation, he first needed to eliminate the enemies here and capture the enemy leader, leaving only the walkers to worry about.

This wasn't about betrayal; it was about survival—and, of course, returning the pain Jack's group had inflicted upon them.

No one had noticed Dominic's group approaching from behind, making it an excellent opportunity for a swift attack from the rear.

However, Dominic realized that although the leader was focused on shooting walkers, his muscles were tense, clearly protecting himself from the surrounding threat. His proximity was too close, meaning if they made any sudden movements, they would be noticed quickly.

Seeing the situation, Dominic knew this wasn't the time for speed; he needed to wait for the right opportunity—a chance to strike the enemy down in one blow while securing the survivors for valuable intelligence.

"Zz... We'll throw stun grenades first, then kill all the walkers."

As the enemies were locked in battle with the walkers, Dominic didn't want to prolong the situation. He issued a final order over the radio: "Once we have the enemy leader, I want the giant walkers dealt with."

"Will we use superior weaponry to handle the enemy?" A question suddenly came over the intercom, revealing a doubt in the minds of all the soldiers.

"Proceed with the FGM-148 Javelin missiles!"

In Dominic's line of sight, the armed men in front were shooting while shielding themselves from the walkers drawing near.

Using the cover, Dominic quickly closed in on the enemy position. The rest of the combat personnel increased their firepower, preventing the enemies from even glancing back.

Watching this, Dominic frowned slowly, knowing time was running out. Once the man reached the walkers, the battle would be over.

Roar!

The walkers were getting faster.

Dominic tightened his grip on the rifle in his hand, calmly approaching the walkers. He had originally planned to wait a little longer, but now it seemed he had no choice but to act.

"Zz... Commander, this is Jack. I'm at the rear on the right side. I discovered something terrifying: these walkers can influence the minds of other walkers... I'm sure of it."

"What?"

Dominic was momentarily stunned by Jack's report over the radio. "Everyone, prepare. We're starting with the stun grenades."

"Yes, sir!"

...

Inside the building where Jack was stationed on the second floor, everyone was watching the situation outside. The moment the soldiers of the organization arrived, they felt a wave of relief.

"Our people are here!"

"We've won..."

Boom!
