Leon's face was no longer calm. Every time he heard about what had happened in the past, in his heart rose a wave of unnamed anger.
He was someone who doesn't like to meddle with people that much. But Uncle Mark's book will help him, and pave his path for the future. Aunty Halen and Hiba are the only people he knows right now and the ones who took care of him.
So he vowed."Aunty Halen, I can't repay you for what you have done to me and grandpa. So I promise one day when I have the chance I will pay everyone who has done wrong to you."
Halen became happy when she heard that. But still, she persuaded him. "No, you don't have to do this. You have so many things to do. Don't let this thing stop you in your path."
"Okay," Leon said after considering. Even though he said so, he will do it in the future.
"Aunty, you rest for a while, and I will get something for you."
"No, you don't have to. I also appreciate it for asking. I have to go home. There is much work that isn't done yet."
"Aunty if you say so."
After Halen left, Leon went to do his usual thing.
At evening.
He came to the backyard to practice as usual. But today there was an additional book with him.
When he finished the basic exercise, he sat down on the ground and took a look at the book.
He opened the book and saw the introductory words: "To the future generation, if you have gotten this book, I hope you study it fully. I have dwelled on this art and tried to perfect it. But it is far from being perfect. There are many things that I don't know and couldn't find because of my family. If you think I will regret it, I won't. I am extremely happy and satisfied with the life I have experienced. I expect you can make my art your own and make it resound throughout the entire land."
Leon thought. 'Uncle, I may not know well and you do not me at all but I promise I will make this art bloom.'
He turned toward the next page.
It says: "Every object has a certain flow. With our naked eyes, we may see many things, but we can't fully understand their movement. So This focus art is to make my flaw in many battles I have gone through. I made this not to miss a single moment in any kind of battle. If you focus on an object or entity fully I believe you can under its structure and mind too maybe. I didn't expect a thing I made to make up for my flaw is such a deep thing. My book just says all about basic focus. the Next level you have to delve into yourself."
Leon silently read the whole book.
The book was thin, so he read it fully in a few minutes. After that, he closed the book and thought about all that he had read.
'The book says about focus. But everyone does focus on everything they do. I don't get what it means by focus.' The more Leon thought, the more he got confused.
He stood up and went outside to a nearby tree. He took out his sword and held it with both hands. He waited for a leaf to fall from the tree.
At last, when a leaf fell, he fully focused on it.
Then, feeling that the moment had come, he made a horizontal slash, but it only cut an extremely small part of it.
' Why I missed? I am entirely sure I slashed the moment it felt right. Is it making an illusion or is it my mind making me think it was right?' He stood there and was reflecting on why he missed.
Seeing no solution come out he continued this. He tried several times that night, but he failed almost every time. After getting hungry, he finished today's practice.
He went to sleep early this night. He didn't know if it was an illusion, but he was very tired compared to most days.
He continued this practice for two months. He did cut the leaf sometimes, but he still missed it most of the time. He did get better at sword handling and slashes.
Tonight he came to the same tree he was practicing all the time. He found something yesterday but didn't have the energy to try it. He found when he was about to swing the sword his focus goes from leaf to his sword. He started focusing on how he would swing the sword.
So today he will fix this. He got ready and took a breath to focus.
He saw a leaf falling and swaying. He immediately focused on the leaf and saw that it came to the same height as his head. He made a vertical slash. He kept his focus on the leaf and started focusing on the sword.
Slash.
He succeeded. But it felt like it drained most of his power. In the days he was practicing he knew maintaining a focus state drained his mental power. Today, focusing on two things at the same time made him powerless.
He hurried towards his room and slumped down on his bed. He was grateful he was training close.
But he had a smile today because he finally succeeded.
When he fell asleep, he decided. ' I will train for half a month, then go to the forest where adventurers killed a wolf-like monster to test my strength. I heard it was a Beginner-Level monster, and their team's weakest guy could also take it down."
