When they are settled back in the van Aisling asks the driver.
"do you know the history of the area around the cenote we asked you to take us to?" She says it in a calm voice letting him know the earlier incident was forgotten.
"a few centuries ago there was a massacre of some villagers. They were on their way to Chichen Itza, when a terror from the north massacred them when they stopped at the cenote. No one knows what or who killed them only that there were three survivors and a small fox that was a pet. It's said that the river at the bottom of the cenote circles the ruins of a mangrove tree that was used to burn their remains. The water is greenish color unlike other cenotes. Many have subadived in the cenote but there is like a barrier keeping anyone from going to the bottom. " the driver tells them as he pulls up to an area that has a house at the edge of the jungle . He points to an area of trees .
