Purple Summers silently shed tears.
Alexander Summers picked her up and placed her on the sofa, then turned around to fetch a tissue to wipe the tears from her face.
But the tears seemed to be endless, no matter how he wiped, they wouldn't stop.
Alexander then relented, holding her in his arms and gently stroking her trembling back.
"Why did you want to kill them?" Purple Summers looked at Alexander blankly, her voice hoarse as she asked, "Was it to silence them? By having Jade Carlson replace the medicine Nathaniel Summers had prepared, was it to kill me?"
The words floated from her tongue as if someone else had spoken them.
Even now, she still couldn't believe it—how could Alexander want to kill her?
Alexander remained silent for a long moment before saying, "Listen to me explain."
