Chapter 48: I Would Die for You

I’ve called Claire for two days and she still hasn’t returned my calls. She can’t be that upset with me. If she won’t pick up the phone then I have no other choice but to drive to Hilltop Manor and talk to her.

As I arrive at Hilltop Manor, I notice the parking lot is practically empty. I’ve never seen it so vacant. It feels wired and spooky, almost as if it’s haunted.

I know Mr. Dubois and my father can’t stand each other, but I feel somewhat sad for the man. I can’t imagine he’d have anything to do with drugs or drug money. We are competitors but he doesn’t deserve this.

I enter the building and can feel goosebumps across my arms. I can sense something is wrong beyond the scandal of the drug money and it makes me nervous.

I enter the building and see no one at the front desk. I walk around looking for someone to assist me in finding Claire when two FBI agents come out of the conference room and escort me out of the building.
