Maja's body was transported back to S city. The family members decided to hold her wake at the Andrada mansion. Her body was layed on hall at the mansion, everyone was invited to her wake.
Many people came to moan her all with different agendas. Some genuinely came to moan her while others came to build relationships with the richest family in the country. All in all Maja's wake broke history of number of attendants at a function. Those who couldn't make it sent their condolences while others send their representative. The hall was so full but it was enough for all the guest to roam around freely.
The theme of the wake was black so everyone was wearing black from head to toe. The hall was decorated with Maja's favorite flowers and colors, it was nothing like the wake the people of S city had ever seen. If it wasn't for the photos of Maja all around the room no one would notice. Everything looked so fancy and elegant but in it's simplicity.
The people of the country were awed by the beautiful decorations of the place. It looked like a scene from a fairytale, it looked so magical. In the photos Maja looked like a princess from a far away land that had deemed the photographer worthy of capturing her beautiful smile. She was simply gorgeous, many were amazed by her beauty. She was known as her grandfather's favorite but never knew what she looked like since she was never one to appear in the media. They were definitely going to miss such a beauty, most of them who thought that she was undeserving of Adrian had there doubt's cleared when they how beautiful from every angle. She was the prettiest girl in the whole country and that was without a doubt.
The function went on very nicely, friends and family sat there and each of them got a chance to say a word or two about his or her experience with Maja. Her closest friends like Cher still could not believe that she was dead, it all happened so suddenly and they were not at all prepared for it. Seeing her lying there lifeless without moving wasn't easy for them to bare.
Adrian most of all still doubted that Maja was dead, he kept waiting for her to wake and telling that it was all a prank. She should tell him that she was only pulling his leg but no matter how much he waited she never moved and inch. It was breaking him apart to sit there and watch her sleep so soundly, a sleep that he knew she would never wake up from.
He kept seeing her smiling face every time he gave her a surprise in front of him. It was taunting him and reminding him that he will never see that face smiling back at him ever again. It reminded him of what he had lost that he would never get back. His heart bled with every moment that passed.
Maja's grandfather, mr. Samuel Salvador was occupying the seat next to Adrian and believe it or not he could feel Adrian breaking apart. He wanted to comfort him and tell him that all will be well but he himself did not believe that so how can he say it. He wanted to tell him that she was resting in a better place and that he should let her go but he wasn't sure he could do that himself. How could he bring himself to ask someone to do something when he himself couldn't do it.
He loved his granddaughter more that anything else in the world. He would do anything for her happiness, for the love he had for her he could have given up his life. There was no line he wasn't willing to cross just for her sake but sadly death is something that he couldn't control and he couldn't do anything to save. If there was a way for him to trade places with her then without a second thought he would choose that option.
The only person in his eyes who has ever loved his granddaughter more than him was Adrian. He knew the young man doted on his granddaughter more than words could describe. He has been in love with her since the very first day they met at the pool. He had been sitting under a tree by the pool to relax when he happened to witness the whole thing. Ever since then the young man did everything he could to win her over and it was only later that she too started reciprocating his feelings.
He had been a witness to their love story from the beginning then how can he not understand what Adrian was going through now that his better half was gone. He was sure that if anyone present at the wake understood what he was feeling then it was the young man.
He was going to miss her so much. He felt as though a part of him has gone and left him forever. No matter what he does he will never get to spend time with her like they used when she was still alive. They won't get to talk about boys trouble specifically Adrian ever again because she has left him for good.
He still remembers the day that she held his hand as she walked for the very first time and since then she has always come to him first before doing anything. Then how can she cheat him by leaving forever without asking if he was okay with it. She just up and left without even saying goodbye.
Maja's father, mr. Rafael Salvador was in no better state than his father. His daughter was his pride and joy, he never expressed it much but he loved his daughter dearly. She was an exact replica of her mother who died many years. She was the love of his and now today the symbol of their love also up and left him. Death has taken the third person that he loved so much away from him. First his mother then his first wife and now his daughter.
He didn't understand what he had done to deserve everything that life was throwing at him. He tried his best to remain strong and put up a front but only he knew exactly how much his daughter's death has affected him. He remembered the day he lost his wife and it opened up old wounds that he tried so hard to hide from the world. He wished that he would die too because the pain was becoming too unbearable for him to handle.
Cher could not believe that her best friend was gone. Maja was everything to her, her sister, best friend and her pillar of strength. She was the one who had taught her how to be strong and fight for herself. She would always say to her, 'life is short live everyday like a king and you will have less regrets in life.' She was my shoulder to lean on when she felt weak and she always got me back up when she fell. She wished her friend would have at the very least warned that she was going to leave so abruptly.
Clara, Matthew and the others also cried in their hearts and prayed for her to find peace. Soon the function ended and everyone left the mansion giving their condolences to the grieving family.
"You may leave me today but there is something I want you to always bare in mind. As constant as the stars above, always know that it you I love." Adrian whispered to Maja silently, he then got up and left but little did he know that Samuel had heard him quite clearly. He smiled at the young man's words he knew in his heart that his granddaughter could never have found a better husband.
