Berries with Syrup and Berry Ice Cream

"Hello and welcome to the Foodie Exploration channel. I am Chef, and today we are going to have a sweet and cool stream."

Speaking directly to the viewers, I took up the ingredients I needed and started preparing to cook. Standing beside me was Oliver, with dark bags under his eyes.

"For today, I was thinking of cooking some cold food dishes. The first dish has to be the slightly sweet and tasty berries with thick syrup. The berries are eaten raw, but we need to make the syrup by hand. After that I was also thinking of making some berry ice cream. Since we have a little bit of Jasmine milk."

Explaining the menu for this stream, I first wanted to make the syrup. First, I took the honey liquid and added in large chunks of Rain powder bark. Then, I crushed the bark inside the honey liquid and let it settle.

"We cannot crush the Rain powder bark outside of the honey liquid as these two will react instantly with each other in air to form a substance we don't need. And since the substance we want is denser than the impurities, we can just wait for it to settle and pour out the impurities."

Putting the bowl with the two ingredients aside, I then took the carton of Jasmine milk and poured it into another bowl.

"To make the berry ice cream, first we need to make the ice cream part. In order to do this, take as much Jasmine milk as you want and add some crushed jade fruit into it. We then whisk it until it forms a cool cream-like texture."

Looking over at the side, Oliver had already helped crush the jade fruit while I was doing the previous steps, so I added that in and started mixing.

Normally, most people would use a mixer and free up their hands. But since this wasn't our own house, there was no mixer here to use.

Sitting down on the chair, I gestured with my head for Oliver to sit too, and we started talking with the chat.

GiveThisDogSomeFood : Is everyone alright?

WoofWoofGimmeFood : We heard about the break in! Are both of you fine?!

ThinkOfMyStomach : You guys Chef is streaming so she should be alright. But still, what jerks to break into someone's house!

Looking at the chat, I paused my stirring. They knew? How?

GiveThisDogSomeFood : Chef looks confused. Do you not read the news?

ThinkOfMyStomach : To think Chef thought she could hide such an important thing from us! I feel hurt! (Joking)

AllOfYouStayBack : Chef! It was reported on the news.

Looking as the chat sped up on Oliver's personal terminal, AllOfYouStayBack sent a link that led to an article.

'Controversial Streamer Chef Has Her House Broken Into!'

Skimming through the article, it mentioned that the media had first gotten wind of things when a police report was made public in order to hunt down the intruders. Although the details are confidential to the public, there had already been several arrests made across several planets.

"So this is how you guys found out."

Resuming my stirring, I answered several questions that the viewers were incredibly worried about.

"Thank you for your concern! We were away from the house during the break in so we were both safe. But we have been told to remain wary of the area around the house and avoid it until further notice. Currently we are staying at an acquaintance's house."

Most of the questions were about the break in, with the majority of them being asked at me. Occasionally some of the viewers would try to get Oliver to chime in, and the whole stream took on a very heavy atmosphere.

I looked down at the bowl and inspected the texture. Great! After all that talking, it was done!

Standing up from the seat, I tried to redirect the focus of the stream towards the food. After all, that was the main attraction of the stream in the first place.

"Now that we have our ice cream, it's time to add the berries. For this, cut the berries up and then add them into the bowl. Then take a spoon and squish the cut up berries into the side of the bowl. Alternate between mixing and squishing to give an equal spread of the berries."

Taking a knife, I cut up the berries and added them into the bowl. Beside me, Oliver was looking at me work.

"Want to help out?"

Seeing his eyes intensely staring at the bowl, I passed it to him and went to check on the honey liquid mixture.

It has settled down quite nicely!

Smiling at the clear divide between the thick, dense and viscous honey mixture and the less dense impurities, I took advantage of the viscosity of the honey mixture to pour away all the impurities cleanly into the sink.

I then took the bowl and headed over to where Oliver was concentrating on squishing the berries. On the way there, I also grabbed some more berries to add to the honey mixture. As well as some Rain powder bark to make sure we didn't die of poisoning.

"Today is quite berry heavy."

Setting down both of them on the kitchen counter a little aways from Oliver, I watched as he mixed around the last cut berry.

"Done!"

Smiling in satisfaction, he passed the bowl to me with a large smile.

"Now, after we add a spoonful of Rain powder bark, we just have to plate the berry ice cream. For the honey mixture, we need to add some berry juice to it. This is to make it a bit more flavorful. Some recipes substitute the berries for other ingredients."

I took some of the smaller bowls and poured the berry ice cream into them. We then crushed up the berries and poured the extracted juice into the honey mixture. For the leftover berry flesh, I just added it as a topping to our berry ice cream.

"After adding the berry juice, mix them together for a short while and we are done!"

Taking another bowl, I added some edible berries into them and poured the honey mixture over them.

"And with this, we are done with our two dishes!"

Carrying the bowls over to the table, I passed one set of each to the taste analyzer while I put another set out for the audience to eat. Oliver and I then took our own bowls and started munching down.

Holding my bowl of berries with syrup, I mixed them a little and took one scoop. Since the berries were quite fresh, they made a very nice and crisp sound when I bit into them. Then right after the slight sweet taste of the berries came the much sweeter syrup.

"Mmmm!"

Oliver, the major sweet tooth, exclaimed as he took one bite. Looking over, I saw him holding his hand to his mouth in pure bliss.

Pulling up chat, I saw many screams of 'cute!' next to 'sweet!' and 'aww'.

Next up was the berry ice cream. Taking a scoop of the slightly green cream, I smelled the strong green berry smell from it.

"Usually having this much green berries might kill you, but since we added Rain powder bark we will be fine. However, I still wouldn't recommend you eat this too often, just in case."

After saying a word of warning, I then placed the spoon into my mouth and relished the taste. The coldness of the ice cream mixed very well with the sweetness of the berries, The extra berry flesh was also a nice touch of texture.

The ice cream was already sweet, but the slight sweetness of the berries highlighted the different types of sweetness they had and amplified both flavors. The Rain powder bark was drowned out by the sweetness, but that was fine since it wasn't the main attraction.

Enjoying the taste of both dishes, I saw Oliver experimenting out of the corner of my eye.

Taking one spoonful of the berries with syrup, he dipped it into the berry ice cream. Eating it, I saw him close his eyes in bliss.

Was it that good?

Copying his actions myself, I was shocked at how well it went together.

Both dishes were pretty cold, but the ice cream was the colder one. As the ice cream coated the berries, it also mixed slightly with the syrup, giving a whole new flavor combination that tasted heavenly. Then, in areas where there was more ice cream than syrup, the sweetness of the ice cream with the mildly sweet green berries complimented each other nicely.

The difference in distribution of the ice cream and syrup also allowed me to taste the varying ratios.

They were all delicious!

Eating my bowl clean, I saw that Oliver had also finished his and was eying the bowl we set aside for the viewers.

Laughing, I pulled up the chat and bid farewell to them. And despite the various cries of dismay as well as those 'blaming' Oliver for 'stealing their food', I closed the stream.

Immediately, Oliver reached out to grab the two bowls and poured the berries and syrup into the ice cream.

"I think you have been around Sazzy too often."

Teasing him a little, we suddenly heard the doorbell ring.

"You continue to eat. I'll go see who it is."

Leaving Oliver in the kitchen, I walked over to the door.

Surprisingly, it was Lily and her mother.

"Hello, are you alright now?"

"Yes. Thanks to you helping me, I have recovered."

Joyce smiled as she bowed her head in thanks. Lily was standing beside her, hands folding onto her mother's dress. She copied her mother and bowed as well.

"No need to be so polite! Come in!"
