007 ~ Pack meeting

"You don't have to watch me all the time," Sydney growled, glaring daggers at Zane who wouldn't take his eyes off her. Ever since he met her outside and dragged her in, his eyes never left her. His dead gaze was making her feel creeped out.

"You cannot be trusted anymore."

"Like you had ever trusted me before now." She rolled her eyes closed her book, stood up, and walked over to him.

"I want to go out again. I'm tired of this place." She complained but Zane only closed his eyes, pretending not to have heard her.

"Hey! You can't keep me locked in here forever." She yelled and went back to her seat.

'I've got to go out somehow. This whimpering voice has been disturbing me ever since.'

"You cannot let anyone know you're the alpha's wife." Zane declared out of the blue, placing a shock on Sydney's face. But that shock didn't last three seconds before it was replaced with a look of satisfaction.

"Great. I don't intend to. But might I know why? Giving me a valid reason to why I should not do something makes me not to do it." She shrugged with a smirk.

"You will learn to do things without having to know why." He looked away when he caught himself staring too much.

"Pfft... Whatever." She pouted. "Why are you still here anyway? Don't you have anything important to do with your life?"

"And risk you running off again? Not happening. Just take a nap or something. Pretend I'm not here, not like I want to be." He muttered the last part and relapsed on his seat.

'I caught you staring, beta.' He heard his alpha through the mind link.

'Invasive much. Staring? At what?' He asked with narrowed eyes.

'At my bluebird.' The alpha smirked. 'Don't stare at her that way.'

'I wasn't staring at her.' He regressed, tired of his alpha's accusations.

'How long am I going to stay here with her? She's exhausting.' He complained.

'It's time.'

Immediately, his voice went dead and Zane stood up.

"Let's go."

Sydney's drowsy eyes opened widely, standing abruptly to her feet and running to where Zane stood.

"Where are we going?" She asked sweetly.

"Look at you being all angelic all of a sudden." He huffed and rolled his eyes.

"Follow me quietly."

With Zane leading the way, they headed to a place that looked like a warehouse. Seeing the height of the building made her mouth open in awe of it. The door opened on its own and Zane walked in. Seeing the crowd, Sydney's feet refused to move. She wasn't so good with crowds. Her eyes caught Clara glaring from afar but she didn't lower her head. She returned the gaze with the same intensity. The eye battle with her rival was interrupted when Zane grabbed her hand and dragged her inside.

"Don't touch me!" She yelled. But he didn't listen.

'Way to make an entrance.' The alpha laughed in Zane's head. He amusingly watched as he dragged his bride up to the last stand and ordered her to sit down quietly.

'Way to make us come late.' Zane growled, looking back at the alpha after he had settled down. Sydney didn't notice the alpha standing on the podium until he started speaking. Recognizing the voice, her eyes darted toward him in amazement. How was he able to talk to this many people with such confidence?

'Hello, Syd! He's the alpha.' She reminded herself. His eloquence got her star-struck, unable to look away. He looked incredibly handsome whenever he smiled. At some point, she even forgot she was married to such an alluring man. But then again, his mistress was looking at him with the same eyes.

Sydney rolled her eyes and wished she could blind her.

"We're introducing a new system of training, starting tomorrow. Some highly trained individuals will be given the position of an instructor and each instructor will have a class of their own and it will be rotating. Most of you might not understand but as time goes on, you will." He paused to access the crowd. Everywhere was dead silent and everybody was eager to hear the alpha speak. He spoke with so much authority and strength. He represented the hope of the pack and it was an honour to serve him.

"The classes are divided into five. Alpha, beta, gamma, zeta, and epsilon. And the instructors of each class respectively are me, Zane, Grant, Clara, and Saida."

The crowd cheered as the new instructors stood behind the alpha.

"I wonder how strong that witch is." Sydney thought, looking at the instructors one after the other.

"Everybody of age will be shared into the classes in no respective other or clan. Do not forget your patrol positions. Do a good job of protecting the citizens of this pack. They're counting on you. You're all dismissed."

The loud cheers almost deafened Sydney as she covered her ears.

Some wolves started howling, making her stand up to find her way out before she passed out from the intense noise. The people were already bumping into her as though she was invisible and when she almost fell, a pair of hands caught her. Immediately wriggling her body off the contact with the hands, she found herself standing in front of a werewolf with a confused look.

"Sorry, you were falling." He scratched the back of his head nervously.

"Yeah... Thanks." She pushed some strands of her back, allowing him to have a full view of her face.

"I'd advise you sit and let them go out first. They can be...brutal and inconsiderate at times." He sat down. Not knowing what else to do, she sat beside him.

"I haven't seen you around here before."

"Yeah... I just came here today."

"Really? Want me to show you around? I know some really cool places. Like the community Park, the lake, amusement pack, the museum, lots of it."

"I doubt the alpha will ever let me go out. He's been keeping me locked up ever since I got here." She huffed, folded her hands, and relapsed on her seat.

The guy laughed heartily before looking at her. He noticed something in her hair and leaned in to remove it. Sydney's heart raced at his action but she didn't yell like she would normally.

"Don't worry... I could put in a good word for you. The alpha and I are quite close."

She smiled at his homely nature. Although she felt a pair of eyes strongly staring at her. When she turned, Ryder was looking. As soon as their eyes met, he smirked and winked at her.

'Jerk!' She yelled in her head.
