First love leap To The future And Back

Confessing to her love was the hardest thing Mai ever had to do. Countless sleepless nights, thinking over and over again what to say. Imagining the great things that could happen to them once he said yes! All of that, for her to get turned down with a simple “No!” ‘At least tell me why?’ She thought. However, she never did find out. Crying herself to sleep, thinking of how embarrassing that single moment was, a sweet dream appeared... Ten years in the future, she was crying once again. Only this time, she was wearing a black dress and in front of her was the photo... of him. “It must be hard for you to have lost your husband.” A woman said. “Husband?” Having no memories of why she was there or what had happened, there was only one thing she could think. “Is this a dream?” Upon returning back to her bedroom, she would soon find out... it wasn’t a dream…. Soon Mai would find herself switching back between the future and present, all for the sake of love.

Misunderstanding

The first period had ended and Shirley was getting ready to get her books out for the next class. Over the weekend she had gotten everything that was needed. She had her books, her own pens, everything. Now she no longer had to share with Mai, like she did the first day. There was just one problem though.

Looking over to her left side, she could see Mai's face slumped over at the desk, and she let out a huge sigh.

"Come on." Shirley said. "Why don't you just tell me what's wrong. You have been sighing throughout the whole lesson. I could even see the teacher getting annoyed. I bet if you weren't the top in the class she would have said something."

Mai just placed her forehead on the desk.

"It's all ruined." She replied.

There was a good amount of time before the next period would start, so she decided to move her desk over towards Mai.

"Come on, the only thing that would get you this upset is if something happened with Chris. I thought you two really hit it off the other day and you would have been in a good mood." Shirley whispered.

Finally, moving her head she looked at Shirley. She was wondering if she should tell her why her mind was a constant mess at the moment.

'Should I tell her what happened with Simon?' She thought. 'No! I can't do that. If I said Simon ki…ki..did that, then she would think that he liked me, even though the one he really likes is her.'

Instead, Mai had decided to tell her that she and Simon were arguing over something, and how the two of them had been childhood friends since they were younger. She thought that if she explained this to Shirley, then it would also clear any suspicions they had of them two being together.

Later claiming that Chris had seen the two of them acting close on the stairwell.

"Well, I have to admit. If I didn't know you liked Chris and I was from one of the other classes, I would have thought you and Simon were together as well." Shirley said smiling.

"Seriously, so that means I really am doomed." She replied letting her head fall again, but this time she didn't hold back and her head went with great speed, *BANG was the sound heard from her desk. Everyone turned to look at what happened.

"Is Mai okay!" A certain boy rushed over. "She didn't have a panic attack or something like that again did she? I know she had a fever on the weekend. Maybe I should take her to the nurses office."

The boy's panic had caught the attention of more people than usual. For they were coming from the boy who would usually be silent at the back of the classroom.

'Oh what's this, how does Chris know that Mia was sick on the weekend? Is there something that she's been hiding from me?' Shirley thought.

"She's okay. Shirley said, pulling her head back and her eyes were spinning in spirals. "See, she has no temperature at all, she is just exhausted from all the school work, you know how it can be." Shirley said.

It actually looked like Mai was out of it, and couldn't hear what was going on at all, but hearing that she was okay. Everyone had gone back to their seats, including Chris.

"What a nice guy, it looks like Chris is concerned for all his classmates."

"Yeah, didn't he reject her, but he still acts like he cares for her. Is there really someone that is that perfect in the world?"

The classmates were talking, but luckily it wasn't about Mai, but it was about Chris instead. No one else could see it but Shirley could. Chris was genuinely concerned for her.

'If that's the case, why did you reject her pretty boy?' Shirley thought.

When Mia had eventually woken up from her head trance, she could finally feel Shirley holding her up from the back of her collar.

"What happened?" She asked, rubbing her red forehead.

"I think you passed out for a second, but don't worry. Your Romeo came bursting over to see if you were okay."

Still a bit dazed, she didn't understand what Shirley meant by that and decided to steer the conversation her own way.

"I wanted to ask, what do you think about Simon?" Mai asked.

"Simon, I mean we have talked a few times. He makes me laugh a lot, he's a joker and he's pretty cute. I can see a lot of girls are after him. Why?" Shirley asked.

The biggest grin appeared on Mai's face.

'It looks like she doesn't think badly of him, maybe even better than that. If I can set Simon and Shirley up even quicker, then maybe Simon will be out of my hair and I can focus on Chris, but I also still need to figure out who stole my clothes. Damn you Mai, why didn't I get a date or anything from future Simon.

'Could he even remember something from that long ago?'

While in the middle of her thoughts, Shirley just continued to watch Mai's expressive face constantly change from smiles, to confusion, to mystery solving. It was interesting to say the least, but eventually the next teacher arrived to teach them their next subject, and that was the end of that for them.

Through lunch break, Mai had done her best to avoid Simon. Thinking that he might come to her class. She had decided to eat somewhere else instead, leaving Shirley behind with the others, and true enough. Simon had entered the room, but as soon as he could see no Mai, he had decided to leave.

Shirley had made note of this, and it looked like Chris did as well. Soon after, the afternoon classes had begun and when they finished it was finally time for everyone to go home. Mai was packing up her back when Shirley had eventually approached her.

"You can thank me later." Shirley whispered, and left the classroom already. Mai was getting ready to leave when the teacher had stopped her.

"Mai, where are you going? Shirley said that you had swapped class duties with her today."

"She did?" Mai thought strangely, and then when she looked in the classroom, she could see that Chris was already starting to tidy up.

In the school, each day two students would be selected to clean up the classroom. This was on rotation for the entire month, it would have nearly been impossible for her and Chris to get the same day unless it was a stroke of luck.

Now she realised what Shirley meant by thanking her. She had swapped for this specific reason. When the teacher left the room. Mai got to sweeping the floor, while Chris was wiping away the tables. The two of them looked at each other for a brief second and smiled.

'What should I do? Isn't this the perfect chance to talk to him? I talked to him so easily before when the two of us where on the bus, so why is it so hard now. Is it because of what happened with Simon?'

While trying to think of what to say, the first person to actually speak was Chris.

"Hey Mai, I was wondering. Are you and Simon together?" Chris asked.
