Prologue - Eve

The blades of the helicopter chopped rhythmically as they sliced through the skies above the river Danube. Within the metal walls of the aircraft, a woman leaned back in her seat, staring out at the night sky. Her silver hair was cropped short, reflecting an ethereal glow in the moon's light. Befitting of her otherworldly appearance and nature, this woman's name was Eve.

In Eve's lap, a cat purred. She absentmindedly stroked its white fur as her companions conversed; which, aside from her fluffy friend, she was accompanied by two other individuals.

The man across from her, Gideon, was polishing a silver-edged halberd that matched his large, muscular body in size. Beside him sat Amos, another young man. He had a slender frame and a spotless complexion, and sported a devious smirk as he screwed on the suppressor for his P320, holstering it at his side. His main weapon was a monstrous anti-material rifle that could rip through a tank.

"Get ready to jump," Eve commanded, setting her cat on the seat. She stood, looking over the edge as they approached the outskirts of the city—it was crawling with troops, tanks, and armored vehicles.

The others nodded and leapt out of the helicopter without even a moment's hesitation. They plummeted toward the earth at impressive speed, but just before they made impact with the ground, their forms disappeared into the dark of night.

They then reappeared hundreds of feet from their initial location, standing in formation.

Amos pulled the rifle from his back, kneeling as Eve and Gideon pushed ahead and took cover behind a building. Eve drew her sabers from their sheaths, and gave a nod to the marksman.

The shot rang out as he fired his rifle, striking one of the roving tanks. It burst into a brilliant and eye-catching explosion, massive flames burning bright light into the night. The troops had started to turn in the direction of the destroyed tank, but before they could face forward again, Eve and Gideon were upon them.

Blood spattered from their throats as the pair dashed past with inhuman speed. Eve pierced through their armor with her sabers like they were made of paper.

A tank had trained its sights on Eve, but Gideon leapt past her, bringing his giant halberd down in a sweeping arc, splitting the tank clean in half.

A few shots managed to land on Gideon, ripping through his flannel shirt, but he paid them no mind. He chuckled confidently and launched himself forward, slicing the two soldiers apart in one large swing.

The rest of the troops were an easy clean up, with Eve and Gideon teleporting between them to cut them down and Amos picking off the stragglers. Blood pooled from all of the bodies and began to amass like a river down the streets; there was enough that eventually it began flowing into the drains like rain.

Eve stood, surveying what looked like a makeshift shelter—a small building with shuttered up windows and only a few guards defending the inside. It only took a second for her to calculate what her next move would be.

She dashed forward, decapitating the guards with nothing but her hands. She gazed upon the cowering citizens, who had nowhere to hide and no direction to run.

After a few moments of fearful silence, her comrades joined her, and she cast a proud grin in their direction.

"Let's end this human infestation," Eve hissed as the three descended upon the humans, fangs extended.
