Chapter Two

" I'm really not lying. They're really my family. I was the one that named Xiaomeng because I felt she looked a lot like me when comparing her to my baby pictures. We both have the same bracelet. If you check her wrist, you will see a handwoven bracelet with two shiny diamonds at the centre. Mine have only one indicating I'm the first child." Xu Mengjie said while she was walking home along with Huang Ziqiu.

Huang Ziqiu sighed and then thought about her words. If truly she belongs to the Xu family then why on earth will then send her to a very poor orphanage home that hardly care for the orphans.

" Big brother, don't you believe me?" She raised her small head up staring intently at him with her big bright eyes.

" I believe you. Why haven't you talked about your parents all these while but choose to open up now?"

Xu Mengjie kicked off a pebble on the ground with her dirty barefoot and then shook her head.

" Granny told me not to say anything about Xu family to anyone. When I saw them today, I couldn't help but tell the truth. She must have known that no one would be wiling to believe me."

Huang Ziqiu nodded at her explanation. It sounded reasonable enough and Xu Mengjie wasn't the type of girl who loved lying.

" Would you like to visit them? I have to accompany Aunt Lan to the city so we can deliver goods."

" I would like to visit them. I miss everybody so much but I won't be able to follow you tomorrow. " She replied sadly. At that time, they had already gotten to the front of their orphanage home.

" I saw it on Lily's new phone. Zhao Zhu will be visiting this place tomorrow. I would love to get a chance to talk to her and tell her about all of the movies she had acted in that I love." She placed her hand on her chin and thought for a while.

" You have been going to the city very often. Have you also tried searching for your parents? "

" I don't have the time." He replied curtly and then added, " C'mon in. Mrs Wang will soon lock the doors"

The next day, Xu Mengjie specifically brought out a faded yellow dress from her closet. She claimed it always brought good luck to her since it was bought by her parents when she was sent to the countryside.

She quickly put on the dress and wore a pair of sandals that has already peeled at the sides due to constant wearing and washing.

She wanted to her idol to have a very good impression while seeing her for the first time. It was normal for them not to eat breakfast whenever Mrs Wang went to visit her children in the city so after dressing, she got out of the building and vegan walking to the square despite her stomach that refused to stop grumbling loudly.

" Eh....Mengmeng where are you walking to so early? Lan and Ziqiu left very early this morning " Su Yu said on sighting the little Mengjie skipping happily on the road.

" Auntie Su I'm not heading there. Don't you know Zhao Zhu will be visiting today?" Xu Mengjie asked looking all puzzled.

Su Yu stared at Mengjie trying to recall who Zhao Zhu was. She remembered hearing the name from Xu Mengjie's mouth. She gave up when her brain refused to remind her.

" Regardless of whoever may be visiting this local area, you shouldn't set out alone very early. I'm sure you haven't eaten breakfast yet "

Xu Mengjie let out a little laugh of embarrassment and shook her head.

" Thank you Auntie Su for the meal. I will make a move now" Xu Mengjie shouted as she jumped down from the chair after eating and ran out of the seafood restaurant.

From afar, she sighted several cars that reminded her of her time at the Xu family. Rather than feeling sad, she was very happy since she would soon reunite with them with the help of Huang Ziqiu.

She walked up to a man in suit and flashed him the sweetest smile she could muster. " Hello sir, I'm Xu Mengjie. Is sister Zhu around"

The man stared at her from head to toe. He clicked his tongue and walked away without bothering to give her a reply. He would be laughed at if caught speaking to her. Her head was bigger than her whole body that housed all sorts of red spots on it which was probably caused by infection or so. Her face was covered in freckles that made it hard to see what she really looks like.

She slumped her shoulders when she received no reply but after a while, she brightened up and went to where they were quite lot of people standing together.

" Hello!!!I'm Xu Mengjie a very big fan of sister Zhu. Is she around now?" Her tiny voice sounded calling their attention to her.

While most of them carried on with their work, a lady in her thirties walked up to her with hostility in her eyes.

" What the hell in a little kid like you doing here very early in the morning? Have you no parents? Get out of here before Zhao Zhu gets irritated after seeing you" She shouted causing Xu Mengjie to take a step backward in fright. As if that wasn't enough, the woman went as far as pushing her away.

Xu Mengjie lost balance and fell flat on her face. Some parts of her body grazed the hard floor and her teeth sunk deep into her lower lip causing the metallic taste of blood to feel her mouth.

" Seriously! " The woman walked away dusting her hands like had just touched garbage.

Xu Mengjie began crying but quickly stopped after remembering she looked really ugly whenever she cries. She stood up with great difficulty and cleaned her eyes with the back of her palm. Her yellow dress was already stained with blood from when her knees scraped the floor. It was bleeding pretty well and she felt a stinging pain on not only her knees but also her temple and elbows. She dragged her leg to the nearest stone and then sat on it occasionally gritting her teeth to stop herself from crying out loud due to the pain that seemed to increase every second passing by.

She wasn't discouraged by the I'll treatment the staffs gave to her instead, it made her more encouraged to wait for her idol with a resolve that Zhao Zhu will be as kind as she always have been in all of her TV series and movies.
