The weapon

As David placed the dog tags of his fallen comrade into his pouch he stood up. "NV on everyone" Carlos said as he started walking down a dark staircase, Alexis turned on her night vision as she follows. The walls had blood streaks on them as well as some plasma scorching, seven minutes later the squad reached the bottom of the stairs they encountered a long hallway with doors on each side, on the other side of the hallway was another staircase. "What's up with all these staircases?" Alexis mumbled as they walked forward, the walls now had red and blue lines pained on them, watching the doors the squad continued to walk to the staircase then down it. At the bottom it opened up to a large room, on one side was a hallway and on the far side of were the staircase was sat a elevator, the squad cautiously walked over and onto the elevator before they pressed the down button. The elevator jolted to life before it started moving down, David looked at Alexis bot saying anything, his gaze though his black visor piercing her helmet like daggers. Ten minutes went by before the elevator stopped and the squad stepped off of the elevator, scanning the rectangular metal room with a red line on the floor, on the other side of the room was a hallway were the line went, ether side of the room also had hallways. Carlos looked at his teammates before bringing his hand up and made a fist. The squad carefully and quietly made they're way though the hall with the red line before coming across a red door. "Breach the room" Carlos said as he stepped to the side letting Alexis get pass him as she took out her shotgun, without hesitation the squad opened the door and flooded in. The room had tables and chairs in it and on the far side was a glass viewing window with a door next to it. As they scanned the room a clang of something metal falling could be heard from the right, spinning on her heel Alexis brought her shotgun to the source of the noise to reveal it was a young girl. "Civilian" Alexis said as David walked over to the girl and said "hey hey it's ok now" Carlos looked at the two before saying "shadow, get into the other room and plant a bomb on the weapon" before she nodded heading to the door, the girl was speaking in the local dialect in a panicked manner. Alexis started to open the door, which just took a second, and when the door opened she was picked up by the throat as a zealot uncloaked itself, energy sword ignited which made the young girl Yelp in fear. The elite growled as it raised its sword, Elizabeth took a knife from her hip before plunging it into the elite's neck seven times rapidly causing it to let go of the ODST, she scrambled back as both David and Carlos spun around and lit the elite up in a hail of bullets.

The elite growled as it held its neck and lunged at David, who got out of the way. Alexis finally picked up her shotgun before she aimed at the elite and fired, the elite's shield lit up a bright blue before Alexis fired once again causing it to get even brighter, in anger she fired again causing the shield to break. She then fired once more into the elite this time killing the beast. Gasping Alexis stood up and Carlos said "you alright?" Alexis nodded as David said "I'm alive...a zealot? Could they be here for the weapon?" "No, they are here for something else...Shadow hurry up and plant the charge on the weapon" Carlos said as he went over and helped the young girl up, Alexis went into the next room and saw a rectangle of a alloy with white words on the side saying "hellian class sonic nuke" she walked over to it before placing a charge on it. Thinking for a moment Alexis gave the team two hours before it went off, she couldn't risk a remote detonation because they could die and it'd never would go off, so a timer was their best bet. She stood up and headed back into the next room before saying "we got two hours on the clock" "ok let's get moving, David bring the girl, Alexis you get our fronts and I'll cover the back, let's get moving troopers!" Carlos said as they got into formation and walked out of the room, down the hall and went to the right hallway which lead to the hanger bay.

-1 hour and 20 minutes later

The squad finally reached the hanger, which had a pelican in it, score. "We can't risk just flying out, we gotta stay low so I'm flying" Carlos said as the squad got onto the pelican. Whilst Carlos was doing some preflight checks he said "what's the time?" "40 minutes left before the charge goes off" Alexis said as she strapped the young girl in, who's name they learned was Emily. "You guys better strap up because I'm going to punch it then" Carlos said as he finished his checks. After everyone strapped themselves in Carlos took off, it wasn't that long until they caught unneeded attention from a pair of banshees, swerving in between buildings Carlos still couldn't shake the pair, and worst yet is that they were running out of time. "Come on girl" Carlos said as he pushed the pelican to it's limit then suddenly they heard a loud boom and a crack, looking out the back Alexis could see the ground ripple and buildings falling, and in the distance of were they came the ground caved in while one chunk jutted sky wards. Then suddenly Alexis felt the pelican get it's wing sheered off by a falling building, now falling to the ground Carlos yelled out "IM LOSING HER" before a panel flung off from the top and flew to Alexis, then everything went black.

"promise me one thing" Alexis's husband said as she hugged him, his warmth seeping into her, "promise me that you won't die" he said before Alexis looked at him and started to say she can't promise that but he said "just....promise me you won't" a moment passed by before Alexis said "I promise...I won't die" causing her husband's face to grow into a smile then he said "I expect you to keep that promise helljumper" in the playful manner he always had. Everything was right with the world in that moment, but these things couldn't last. "I have to go, I love you" Alexis said before giving her husband a gentle kiss on the lips, which he returned, he then said "I love you too...now go forth and kick ass" with a smile, Alexis chuckled before walking away unaware that was the last time she'd get to see him.
