Why is my body so short?

Slowly, Lucas started to feel things again as he gradually started to move again. He felt sleepy as if had been asleep all along. Sighing at the weird dream, he decided that it was probably time to get ready for his next day of school soon and sat up. But as he opens his eyes, he found himself in a completely new environment that looks nothing like his dorm. Instead of the flat white walls, he found himself in a candlelight illuminated small wooden room, and instead of cold stale air he felt the warm air moving around the room that weirdly contained a calm feeling to it. Slowly as Lucas started to move around to look at this new room, he noticed something quite strange.

'Was I always this short?'

As he starts to look at his body, realization starts to kick in. Memories of that weird dream flickered through his mind. The flash, the river, his death, and that man's image flashed through his mind. He thought it was all a bad dream, a nightmare, but it seemed that it was real, too real for him. While he was freaking out he heard a *thud* from the room's door, as a small child practically sprinted in.

"Lucras~ Wake up! Wake up! Wake up! Wake up! Wake up! Today is the day of the assessment and mom wants us to get there early to so we aren't late!"

After figuring out that the small child was talking to him he and came out of his own head, he found her staring at him with wide red eyes and her long blonde hair. Her eyes sparkle with curiosity as she watches him, finding him just staring back in shock. After a few seconds, her face turned annoyed, and she moved closer to his face.

Seeing no response still from him, the girl continued, "Why aren't you saying anything? No brotherly bullying, no comeback, no nothing? Are you ok in that head of yours? Is anyone home? Hello!"

Quickly scanning his remaining memories, to get back at this seemingly sibling being. Memories of a younger Lucas being woken up by the smaller children at the foster home played through his mind as he came up with a response to this chaos demon. After a second of thinking he responded, "Hey, I just got up. Waking up is hard sometimes, leave me alone. I'll be ready soon. What are we eating?"

She then replied in a matter-of-fact tone, "Mom said that we are just having eggs, but you need to hurry up. Your making us late."

Before he could even reply back, the little girl left the room with a full sprint, slamming the door behind her. Then the sound of her jumping down something, presumably the stairs, was heard inside of his room. Finally after all of that, Lucas got the chance to understand what was happening here. Remembering what the little girl said when she saw him, he understood that this bodies name was Lucras. Seeing how close it was to Lucas, he decided to adopt the new name as his own. Then after taking a closer look at his body, he found that he looked to be in a body of a 13-15 year old and his new body a bit scrawny. He also looked deadly pale, like he was deficient in every vitamin possible and had never seen the sun in his life pale.

Going over to a water bowl he saw in the corner of the room, he looked down and found a younger face with red eyes and blonde hair. The red eyes seemed to glow with crimson light that seemed to pull you in slightly and the hair which was longer at the top than the side, seemed to flow down the side of his face. Moving around the room, looking for some clothes to wear, he got dressed as he found some in what seemed like a wooden dresser and started to prepare himself for moving downstairs.

'Would he be able to fool the others into thinking that he was who they thought he was? The person whose body he now possessed, what happened to him? What is this assessment and would he fail because he doesn't know anything about this place?' All of these questions flashed through his mind as he started to prepare himself for this new 'adventure' he got. Starting to think about some of the books he had read before he died. As he thinking about those books he began to really wish he had some memories of the other person like all of those other protagonists in those isekai books had.

Then, as if his wish was heard, a red screen appeared up.

[Hello, Welcome to the Memory Story System, The system that is designed to make your story legendary. To obtain memories, please accept the system. Do you wish to be the host of the system?]

At first, Lucras was surprised as he thought, 'Where did this thing come from, and why did it just pop up? Also why was it here?' After a solid few seconds of freaking out, he then remembered about the river guy, and remembered that he said he would add a special little treat. Thinking to himself, 'Was this the treat, a system to help him in the new world?' He had read a few stories about some systems being evil and stuff, which scared him slightly but there were also a lot more stories with overpowered systems that gave the host amazing powers.

After a few seconds of thinking, Lucras decided to just do it, since he had nothing much to lose and he needed those memories soon. This was a completely foreign world with different rules and maybe different physical laws to it. He would probably end up suffering a lot for his lack of common knowledge about this world if he didn't have those memories. So without much of a choice, he pressed [Accept].

The screen disappeared from his eyes, as he started to feel stress enter his body. That last message seemed to be warning that something was going wrong with the system he got from that man. Silence filled the room as he waited for something to happen. Waiting for something to explode or something. Except that it left him waiting, and waiting, and waiting for around for around five minutes before something happened. A screen appeared in front of him, but it seemed somewhat different from last time as it was light blue now.

The screen before him read out to him, [Sorry for the scare, that crude system almost ruined a few things, I had to remove it permanently]

Surprisingly, along with a new screen came a woman's voice rang through his mind. Scared by the fact that, apparently this new voice and screen just got rid of the system he was gifted by that river guy. Was she what the system was trying to contain or was something different? Even if she isn't, the fact that she could erase something the person in charge of souls put on him is frightening.

A moment of silence prevailed for a moment before the screen changed. Lighting up in a blue light that swimmed across Lucras's face, it changed and spoke to him, [Ah where is my manners~ My name is the Fated Story System, and I'll be your new system as your old one almost killed you]
