The door to the room creaked open, and in walked Victor, the enigmatic and emotionless vampire.
Althea's heart skipped a beat as she recognized him.
He had betrayed her and luckily that was the only interaction she had with him. Victor's unsettling smirk upon entering their hideout only confirmed the air of danger that surrounded him.
Ariana couldn't hide her curiosity, despite the palpable tension in the room. She couldn't help but ask, "Who was that? And why did he look at us that way?"
Althea's gaze was fixed on the door Victor had just exited. Her voice trembled as she replied, "That was Victor, a vampire who serves the king. He's not someone you want to come in contact with."
Fiona, too, shared Althea's unease. "What could he want with us? Are we in danger?"
