FGO Singularity [2]

(A/N: Medusa looks like her Rider version but with a white dress instead of black.)

Third POV:

In a flash of light, the master of Chaldea appeared in a valley filled with rocks at the foot of a large mountain.

"Confirming successful Rayshift," Mash said, holding her shield up.

Roman's face popped up. "Good to hear. Everything looks good from our end, too."

Mash noticed Ritsuka looking over himself. "Master, is something wrong?"

"Ah, not really," Ritsuka just shook his head. "I was expecting something to... you know, go wrong like usual."

"Hey! Not every Rayshift is gonna have a complication!" Roman cried out looking hurt. "I mean, sure, we had some blunders, but give us some credit. We're trying our best here."

"Okay, okay, sorry," Ritsuka chuckled before looking at the mountain. "So, this is Mount Olympus, huh?"

"Indeed," Medusa nodded while looking at the mountain top and placing a hand on her chin. "Hmm... it's not as large as I remember, but it is to be expected considering the time."

"Olympus is Greek territory, right?" Mash looked at Medusa hopefully. "Can you guide us through here?"

"I'm sorry, but I won't be of any help in that regard," Medusa quickly denied that notion. "Not only did I never come here personally since me and my sisters spent most of our time in the Shapeless Isles, but the area is bound to have changed since this very far from my time."

"Well, guess we're relying on you, Roman," Ritsuka looked at the hologram of the doctor. "Got anything for us?"

"Give me a second," Roman pushed a few buttons and turned his head to look at another screen. "Alright... you have a village around a mile in the south. Be careful though, there's some weird signals around the area."

"Weird how?" Ritsuka asked.

"They're kind of like Shadow Servants but still not quite like that," Roman said before narrowing his eyes. "Just be careful, okay?"

"Alright, let's get going," Ritsuka said as they began walking in the direction of the village.

As they were walking on side of the mountain, Medusa turned to Scathach. "Are you going to stare at me the whole way?" She asked.

"Humph, I simply don't see what makes you so special," Scathach huffed while turning her head. Medusa sighed while shaking her head. "Zack, what did you get me into?" She mumbled.

"Uhmm, I'm sorry if I'm being nosy, but who is 'Zack'?" Mash asked meekly.

"She must be talking about Zeke," Da Vinci's face appeared in a holographic screen. "In the stories, Medusa apparently had control over a beast made of wood, stone, and metal that protected her island. That monster was known as Zeke."

Medusa shook her head with a tired look. "Why do you humans bastardise stories to such an extent? Honestly. This is why I'm summoned as a Rider, it's because you humans saw me as some kind of beast tamer," she groaned.

"Eh, sorry, we do acknowledge that our records aren't entirely accurate. Nero and Drake's genders should be enough proof," Da Vinci apologised before crossing her arms and raising an eyebrow. "But that does make me curious, what connection do YOU have to Zeke, Scathach?"

Scathach blinked and her face showed genuine confusion. "They don't know?" She asked while turning to Medusa.

"I've looked through their records and some history books. No one really made a connection," she replied with a shrug.

"Connection to what?" Da Vinci asked.

Scathach went to reply before she stopped and looked forward with narrowed eyes.

She suddenly dashed forward and grabbed Ritsuka - who was at the front- by the back of his shirt and pulled him back.

"Wha-Hey, what's wrong?" The master asked.

Scathach simply picked a stone off the ground and threw it forward. As soon as the stone touched the ground, it completely crumbled to dust revealing a hole filled with wooden spikes.

"Oh... THAT'S what's wrong," Ritsuka swallowed the lump in their throat.

"A-Amazing, Ms. Scathach," Mash looked at Scathach in amazement. "How did you know that trap was there?"

"I didn't," Scathach replied while shaking her head. "I just felt something was off through centuries of honed instinct. I threw that stone because I was suspicious, but even I didn't think the ground itself had anything wrong with it. Whoever made this trap was skilled."

"Hey, everyone, we got to tell you something," Dr. Roman's face appeared. "That village you're headed to? It has a Servant signal coming off it. It's weak so we couldn't tell until now, but it's definitely a servant."

"Alright, thanks for the heads up, Roman," Ritsuka nodded before looking back at the hole. "You think they're the person who made this?"

"Most likely," Medusa nodded. "This trap was far too good to be made by humans. It could be an Assassin with skills in traps. Or maybe a Caster? You never know with Servants," she commented with a shrug.

"Yeah, but the question is if they're hostile or not," Ritsuka sighed before shaking his head. "Okay, no use worrying about it. Might as well go and see for ourselves."

"That won't be necessary," Scathach said while crossing her arms. "They'll come to us."

"Hey... she's right. The Servant signal is beginning to move to your location," Roman looked at Scathach in bewilderment. "How did you know?"

"Someone who makes a trap this good most likely placed a trigger that works as an alarm for whenever the trap is sprung," Scathach explained with a shrug. "We could go to them instead and meet them halfway through, if you want?" She said while looking at Ritsuka.

The master placed a hand on his chin and shook his head. "I'd rather not. If they ARE hostile, the last thing I need is for a fight to break out so close to the town."

Scathach smiled, "Good. You're not ignorant to how dangerous a fight can be to the surrounding area." Soon enough, a person was seen running towards them. The person was wearing leather armours on his left shoulder and the left side of his chest. The right shoulder had a lion pelt with the head being a shoulder guard and the rest being used as a cloak. They were armour on their elbows and knees with ragged pants and leather boots. In their hand was a wooden spear with a blade made form golden, spiral metal.

"Wait, you're not one of the ghouls!" The person yelled as they got closer revealing their face. They had short, messy brown hair with tanned skin and brown eyes. They appeared somewhere in their early twenties. "Uhmm... No?" Ritsuka replied, not knowing how to respond to that particular reaction. "Wait are you travellers? Don't tell me my trap caught one of you," the person rushed to look inside the trap

and sighed in relief seeing no one there. "Glad that wasn't the case."

"You are a servant, correct?" Scathach commented. The person seemed surprised before looking closer at Medusa and Scathach, "Ah, so you're Servants, too? Yeah. I'm a servant. Though, I don't have a Master. Are you here to fight?"

"No, we're here to help," Mash said before gaining a troubled look. "As soon as we find what's wrong, that is."

"I'm Ritsuka," the Master steps forward and offered a handshake. "We're from a place called Chaldea. We... We were informed that something was wrong here. Does it have something to do with the 'ghouls' you mentioned earlier." The man nodded. "Yes. There's strange creatures around lately. If you're here to help, I appreciate it. I'm not enough to take them all on myself."

"And who are you, exactly?" Medusa asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Ah, I forgot to introduce myself, didn't I?" The man chuckled nervously before placing his spear on his shoulder. "I'm the Lancer Servant, Zaraka. It's nice to meet you."

"Zaraka? As in the hunter from Babylon," Roman's face appeared as he cut in.

Zaraka jumped in surprise as the doctors face appeared out of nowhere. "W-What in Great Zack's name?!"

"Ah, don't worry, this is... communication mage-craft, I guess you can say," Ritsuka said, trying to calm down Zaraka who simply nodded slowly, looking at the screen in wonder. "And Roman, do you know who he is?"

"Kind of," Roman nodded before crossing his arms.

"Zaraka was hailed as the best hunter from the ancient city of Uruk. Blessed by the ancient tree spirit, Zakrim, he was even praised by King Gilgamesh for his skills."

"Ah, I'm not as impressive as you make me," Zaraka scratched his head with an awkward smile. "Honestly, I was just a hunter who was working to earn his living. That isn't anything special."

"What are these Ghouls you mentioned before," Scathach cut into the conversation, looking quite interested.

Before Zaraka can reply, an inhuman growl was heard and, from behind the surrounding rocks walked out humanoid figures covered in shadows.

"They're... well, those," Zaraka said pointing at the figures.
