Chapter 4: Contact

Felix watched as Mash placed her shield on the ground and Olga made a magic circle before the three of them were surrounded by a blue dome-like thing which originated from the circle as Felix was a bit surprised.

"Hello... Hel... Hello?... Can you hear me?" Roman's voice is heard as a holographic screen appeared on the shield.

"Dr. Roman. We can hear you." Mash said when she heard the man.

"Mash! Thank God you're alright." Roman said in a relieved tone.

"Romani!? What are you doing on that seat?! Where's Lev?" Olga shouted in anger when she saw him.

"Waah! Director Olga!? You're alive?! How are you there?!" Roman said shocked and surprised.

"Didn't you just see me!? And what's with that reaction of yours!?" Olga shouted in anger.

"S-Sorry Director. It's just that you went missing after the Rayshift and we couldn't find you. And I'm just surprised to see you at the singularity." Roman said to her as he managed to calm himself a bit.

"Well, where's Lev? And why are you on that seat?!" Olga asked him with a glare.

"Professor Lev seems to have perished. He was right in the middle when the explosion happened. I'm in this seat because there is no one of a higher rank than me." Roman said to her in a regretful tone.

"No. Lev." Olga said shocked and a sad look appeared appeared on her face.

Roman looked at the three of us before he noticed the armor that Mash is wearing as his eyes widened.

"Mash. I'm not saying that I'm not happy to see you but... what is up with that outfit!? It's shameless!? I didn't raise you like that!" Roman said to her flabbergasted.

"It's not like that doctor. You see..." Mash said before she explained the situation to him.

"Well, we can't do anything about it now. We should be happy that a heroic spirit was willing to help us so that's a plus for our situation." Roman said to them as he calmed down.

"So, doctor, how are the rest of the staff and the facilities?" Felix asked him as he looked at him as Olga was surprised at his question.

"We've lost 80% of our staff. We are also running on energy from the back up generators since the main generators have been heavily damaged." Roman said to him.

"But to sabotage the Grand Order when it is of utmost importance. Who would do this?" Olga said as Felix looked at her.

"Sabotage?" Felix asked her when he heard that.

"Yeah. Since you're a civilian you wouldn't know but mages always try to undermine others. I'm sure that someone must've done this to undermine my progress." Olga said as she grit her teeth in anger as Felix looked at her.

"What about the other Master candidates? Did all of them survive?" Felix asked him.

"Yes, thanks to your quick thinking of putting them into cryosleep they are alive but due to the damage they sustained they are now in a coma. Though one Master candidate was found outside the Rayshift room which surprised us." Roman said the two girls were surprised at the last bit of information.

"Oh, that's me. I found her when I went to her coffin and decided to get her out of the room for safety." I said to him surprising the rest.

"That's great then. She seems to only have been knocked out with minor injuries so her condition isn't that critical." Roman said to them.

"That's good." Felix said with a sigh.

"Alright so, what do you know about this singularity?" Olga asked him not wanting to just stand on the sidelines.

"I'm sorry to say this but we do not have much information about it. We know that it is Fuyuki City from the year 2007, where history diverged." Roman said to them.

Olga clicked her tongue in annoyance when she heard that. As the director of Chaldea, she needed results to show to the association, otherwise they will take it from her.

"Alright, we will explore the singularity and try to correct it. Always be ready to receive our calls." Olga said to him sternly.

"As you say director. I wish you good luck." Roman said to her in response.

"Hold on a second. I want to ask you something else." Felix said catching their attention.

"What is it?" Roman asked him a bit confused.

"Is it possible for us to summon a Servant to help us? Not that I don't believe in Mash but she is still relatively new." Felix said to him.

"That's impossible. Chaldea has been trying to summon a Servant and only three such summonings were successful." Olga said in indignation.

"I mean, it's not impossible but the summoning requires large amounts of mana, which is an obstacle in summoning a Servant since usually the grail gives the Master the mana needed to summon the Servant." Roman said to him.

"Mana. Magical energy right. Can we use the mana in the air? Mash said when we were running that there was a lot of mana in the air." Felix said to him.

"That's... actually a great idea. I just scanned your surroundings and even though it's a bit glitchy I can see that there is a lot of mana there. If you can utilise that then a Servant summoning might be possible." Roman said with a smile when he realised what he was saying.

"That's amazing senpai." Mash said with a surprised face when she heard it before smiling at Felix.

Olga meanwhile was shocked when she heard what Romani said. She couldn't believe that a top class magus like herself couldn't come up with a plan that a civilian was able to come up with.

"Well, then it is possible right?" Felix asked for confirmation.

"Yes. Disregarding the doubt about whether or not it would work it is certainly worth giving a shot." Roman said to him as he nodded to him.

"Great. Then we can try to summon a Servant that will help us to fight." Mash said agreeing with the idea.

"Great. Then... huh?... Run! You have to run!" Roman said immediately when he saw something.

"What is it?" Olga asked as the group was alarmed but his words.

"I can see Servant signatures heading towards your direction! Get out of there now!" Roman shouted at them.

"This is bad. We can't fight fight Servants. Senpai, Director, let's run." Mash said to them in urgency.

"Well, let's go." Felix said as he got ready to run.

Mash retrieved her shield as the dome went away. The three ran away from there as Felix looked behind him and was relieved that there didn't seem to be any Servants following them. They then reached the area of the bridge as Felix knew what is about to happen.

"Senpai stop!" Mash said causing Felix and Olga to stop in their tracks.

Then chains appeared a few feet in front of them as Olga was surprised as Felix's body became tensed.

"Ara~, so many fresh prey. Thanks for coming to my territory." The sound of a woman caught their attention as they looked at the direction.

'Oh God it's Medusa Alter.' Felix thought to himself as he saw the servant.

Said servants scythe gleaned as she has a sadistic smirk on her face as her hair also danced around her. Mash immediately stood in between the two humans and the Servant as said servant smirked. She then walked to some statues as the group saw them but then Mash's eyes widened when she saw them.

"Senpai. Are those?" Mash asked him with a horrified look, something which Olga also had.

"Those statues. They're people." Felix said in fear at the dangerous Servant.

"That's right. I can use them to get more mana." Medusa Alter said as she caressed the face of one statue.

But then she ripped the head off of the statues body causing blood to flow out of it as the group of 3 were horrified. She licked the blood that fell near her lips as she smiled.

"I just destroyed one. But now I will get three more." Medusa Alter said as she looked at the group as some of her hair took the form of snakes.

"A scythe, snake like hair and the ability to turn people to stone. You're Medusa." Felix said catching the attention of the two.

Medusa Alter's eyes widened a bit before she let out a laugh before she looked at him.

"That's right boy. I'm impressed that you managed to know my identity so quickly. As a reward, I'll be sure to leave your statue for last." Medusa Alter said with a smirk as she got ready.

"Mash." Felix said as Mash gripped her shield.

"I'll do my best to protect you senpai." Mash said as she got ready with her shield.

"That's right. Struggle and entertain me more." Medusa Alter said as she brandished her scythe as her hair took the form of snakes.

Felix gulped when he saw that. Olga grew more nervous. Mash felt extremely nervous but was ready to protect them as the fight was about to happen.
