Fandom Rants

A book where I talk about my opinion on various shows. From Miraculous to Winx, Monsuno to Pokemon, Inuyasha to Jujustu kai and more. I will write about what I think of the characters, the plot, and any ships in the show. It is a free discussion where any opinion is allowed. (as long as it is not vulgar or offensive in any way)

Miraculous- Marinnette

Honestly I was conflicted with my feelings about Marinette. At one point I straight up disliked her. After hearing various opinions on her and looking at her character into greater depth I decided that she is an alright protagonist.

Marinette is a complex character. She comes off as creepy and stalkerish- which she is- but she reveals that she does it because she does not know how to convey her feelings towards Adrien. My main problem with Marinette was how easily she judged people and the fact that she kept Cat Noir at arm's length.

At first she judges Adrien, mistaking him for being the one that put the gum on her seat in the first episode. Then she judges Cat Noir and never takes him seriously until he confesses his love for her as Marinette in Glaciator.

She tends to let her immediate outlook on people cloud her judgement. She completely reset Chloe's redemption arc because she could not get past the bratty and spoiled version of Chloe that she sees as Marinette.

I do not blame her for that considering that Chloe bullies her everyday, but as Ladybug she got to see how good of a person Chloe could be, given the opportunity. She overlooked this though as she could only see her as a bully. This led her to not going to Chloe because she does not trust her.

Now in Marinette's defense Chloe expected to be used when she was not needed but she was neglected nonetheless.

I dislike how she never told Luka about her identity. Out of everyone he is the most trustworthy. I understand that nobody should know their identity but she told Alya so I am curious to how much that applies. Luka knows about both Adrien's and Marinette's identities and indirectly told her that knowing who she was made him love her more.

He is extremely understanding and the creators did him dirty.

Now while I dislike these things about Marinette it is also reasonable. She relates to Adrien in a way where she feels that she needs to be perfect as Ladybug and has a mental breakdown every time she makes a mistake. This gets to the point where she suffers depression and pushes Cat Noir away despite his efforts to make her realize she is not alone and never will be as long as she lets him in.

Honestly, Ladrien could be more then constant stuttering and blushing if they confided in each other about the similar pressures they go through.

With feeling the constant pressure of being ladybug she had to confide in somebody and if I had to pick between my boyfriend or my best-friend, I would choose my best-friend.

I understand her annoyance with Cat Noir constantly confessing his love for her. It makes her seem like a bad person when she is constantly turning him down and it is not fair for him to put her in that position.

I have nothing about the way she judges people. I find it annoying but again understandable. I just wish she would hear people out more.

All-in-all I think she needs to smile more and lighten up. I really think that is going to happen in season 5 now that she is letting cat noir take on some responsibility.

I have a lot more to say about Marinette but this was a quick summary without going too in depth about her. I will talk more about her as a character when I talk about the ships.
