Run!

CASTYR'S POV

Where did that come from?! Out of nowhere, Kilo pulled a sword out of his back! I bend my head to look at Kilo's black sword. Why am I gawking at Kilo? I should be paying attention to the men trying to kill us, but Kilo is just...so...wow... His black hair and purple eyes... His beautiful face and body...

"Run, Castyr!!"

Huh? I look up at Kilo as he moves in front of me and blocks a bullet with his sword.

"Run!"

Kilo's voice snaps me back to reality. I look at the men advancing towards us. "But what about y-"

"Go! I'll be fine!"

Kilo puts his hand on my back and shoves me away from an attacker. I watch with wide eyes as Kilo runs his blade across an attacker's chest, reminding me of the danger and urgency of the situation. I have to go get help! I turn around and begin running towards a private space craft preparing for departure.

But what if they want to kill Kilo, too? I start to slow down. Argh! I do not have time to think about this. I will take my chances! I shake off the doubt and uncertainty and continue running towards the craft.

The craft's door begins to open as I near it. I dash up the ramp and run into a man's body.

"Owe!" I look up to see a green-eyed man staring down at me quizzically.

"Can I help you?" He asks softly.

"Help! My friend needs help! We were walking and some men..." My words falter when the man nods, turns around, and silently walks back into his craft. I whine miserably as I watch him disappear. I am about to run off to find someone else when I hear him returning. I turn to see him exit with a rifle.

"Where is your friend?" The man asks. His voice is deep and soft.

I smile in thanks and lead him down the ramp. It is not long before we come into view of Kilo and the assailants. The bodies of four men lie on the ground as Kilo fights the remaining four attackers.

The man stops at a distance and aims his rifle. With three swift shots, three assailants fall dead; Kilo defeats the remaining attacker with a slice across the neck.

Kilo stands and turns to look at us as I rush to the angel.

"Are you alright?" Kilo asks.

I was gonna ask you that!

I nod. "Are you okay? Did you get hurt?" I pat Kilo's abdomen and check his arms for wounds.

"I'm fine." Kilo shoos my hands away.

Kilo's eyes widen as he takes a good look at me. He instantly takes off his jacket and throws it over me.

"Keep this on until you calm down, Glow Stick."

Eh? Glow Stick? Ah, I must have started glowing in the stress of everything. Wait, then that means the man saw me. And he still helped?!

I feel Kilo step in front of me as the man approaches us. He places his arm around my back and holds his sword in front of him in warning.

"Are you alright?" The man asks Kilo.

Kilo nods shortly.

"Your friend was really worried about you," the man gestures at me.

Kilo tightens his grip around his sword.

"It's okay. I'm not gonna hurt you or your star." The man sets the rifle on the ground and raises his hands above his head.

"Who are you?" Kilo inquires defensively.

"Devyn, a human from Earth," the man answers.

I focus on calming down and controlling my breathing as Kilo continues to stare at the human apprehensively. Once my glow is at a minimal, I poke my head out from behind Kilo and peer at the brown-haired human. His green eyes are honest and soft.

"It's okay, Kilo. I don't think he wants to hurt us. I trust him," I defend our savior.

"You trust people too easily," Kilo replies.

"But I trusted you." I look up at Kilo and blink my eyes. He stares down at me and sighs.

Kilo closes his eyes before swiveling his head to look at the human. He nods and lowers his sword.

Devyn slowly lowers his arms and retrieves his rifle. "Do you guys, uh, need a lift? I'm on my way to Borum for some business," the human offers.

Kilo nods.

"Follow me," Devyn turns and begins walking away from the battle scene. Once back in his craft, Devyn returns the rifle to a weapon rack and sits in the pilot's chair.

"You fly alone?" Kilo asks.

"Mmm," Devyn nods his head. "I'm pretty efficient," he smiles. The human flips a few switches on the control board and closes the craft's door. Kilo and I sit in the two passenger seats as Devyn readies his craft.

"So, how'd you end up on Megran?" Devyn strikes a conversation as he checks his craft's stats and condition.

"...We...fell..." I look up at Kilo.

Kilo looks down at me and nods.

"We fell from Heaven," Kilo adds.

"Ah...You haven't gotten your wings yet?" Devyn asks as he prepares for departure.

Kilo hangs his head. "...No...That's why we need to get to Earth."

"Mmm. I have a contact on Borum who can get you to Earth," Devyn offers. "I have business on Borum, so I can't fly you personally, but my contact is a good friend, so you'll be able to get to Earth safely." Devyn increases the power of the ship's thrusters, and the craft hovers into the sky.

Kilo thinks for a moment before accepting Devyn's offer. "Thanks. I owe you. If you need any help, I'll try my best."

"Ah! I'm sure there won't be any situation like that!" Devyn exclaims as we enter Megran's atmosphere and make our way to Borum.
