As Knight descended the stairs, he prepared himself to visit Lucy's home and have a serious conversation with her father.
But then, a thought struck him—where exactly is Lucy's house?
Opening the magic network library, he quickly entered "Heartfilia chaebol" into the search bar. Immediately, a wealth of information appeared.
Jiude Heartfilia, head of the Heartfilia conglomerate, Lucy's biological father.
Their primary business? Railroads.
In the entire Fiore Kingdom, at least 70% of the rail routes are operated by Lucy's family...
"So rich!" Knight couldn't help but marvel as he absorbed the information.
Knight, though wealthy himself with over 90 million J in his bank account and an IOU from Lucy, knew that compared to the giant Heartfilia family, his fortune was but a drop in the ocean.
"So, all the magic train rides I've been taking were benefiting Lucy's family?" Knight muttered, feeling a bit bewildered.
He remembered that in the original story, this massive empire went bankrupt and was acquired. How could that happen? Jiude's business acumen was undeniable. Was he betrayed?
Knight recalled that Jiude had once hired the ruler of the ghosts to bring Lucy home, hoping to arrange a marriage alliance. Perhaps the company's financial troubles had already begun, and this was a desperate attempt to fix things. Or maybe the rejection of the marriage led the other family to retaliate against the Heartfilia business.
Shaking his head, Knight decided it wasn't worth overthinking.
"Knight, be careful on the stairs! Watch your step!" Mirajane called out kindly.
Knight snapped out of his thoughts, closing the magic network. "Mira, have you seen Lucy?"
"Not today. Why, what's up?" she asked, curious.
"Uh..." Knight hesitated, remembering his promise to Lucy to keep her identity as the daughter of a wealthy family a secret.
"I'm just going to her place, need to talk to her father," he replied vaguely. "See you later!"
After waving goodbye to Mirajane, Knight exited the guild. He pulled up his friend list and sent Lucy a private message.
Sigma Man: [Where are you?]
Work Hard to Make Money: [Knight? I'm in the park... I twisted my ankle.]
South Exit Park, huh?
Knight quickly replied, "Wait there," and began making his way to the park.
As he walked, a voice chimed in his ear.
"Thank you, Knight."
It was Uru, her form transparent, invisible to ordinary people. But with his special sight, Knight could perceive the flow of her magic.
"You reconciled with your daughter," he guessed.
"How did you know?" Uru sounded surprised.
"Lucky guess," Knight smirked.
"Well, you're right," she admitted. "Thank you."
"How about helping me manage the magic network as thanks?" Knight teased, curious about her recent conversation with her daughter. With his admin privileges, no information was off-limits—though he'd need to be careful not to get caught by Uru!
She chuckled softly. "I'll get back to work on the Deep Web then." With that, her magical presence faded.
Knight continued his walk toward the park. Not long after, another message appeared.
Pain Witch: [Thanks, Knight!]
Pain Witch: [Sister was really moved~]
Sigma Man: [No sincerity, no acceptance.]
Pain Witch: [Pajamas Selfie.jpg]
A picture of Ultia appeared on his screen. She stood by a French window, dressed in soft velvet pajamas, her hair cascading like a waterfall. The angle of the shot made her look even more alluring.
Knight blinked in surprise, quickly saving the photo.
Sigma Man: [You're so sexy, lol.]
Pain Witch: [Say that again, and I'll kill you!]
Pain Witch: [My mom saw our chat last night, by the way. Next time, don't let her catch it!]
Sigma Man: [Where's the hush money, lol?]
A few moments later, another picture arrived—this time, a side profile showcasing her curves, the morning light almost making her pajamas transparent.
Knight stored the picture immediately, making sure no one else could see it.
Sigma Man: [I like it. Send more.]
Pain Witch: [Nope! I'm off to the hospital. Let's talk tonight!]
Maybe it was because of the reconciliation with her mother, but Ultia seemed to be in high spirits. Knight couldn't help but smile.
Sigma Man: [Don't forget to wear black stockings tonight!]
With that, Knight turned off the magic network, looking forward to the night.
...
When Knight arrived at South Exit Park, he spotted Lucy sitting alone on a bench, gently rubbing her ankle.
"What happened?" he asked.
"I got scared by a dog…" she admitted, pouting.
"Can you walk?"
Knight knelt down, removed her shoe, and examined her swollen ankle.
"Do you know healing magic?" Lucy asked hopefully.
"Nope," Knight sighed, rolling his eyes. Still, he gently touched her ankle and infused a bit of magic to ease the pain.
Lucy smiled. "Wow, it's already feeling better!"
"You're a wizard, Lucy. How do you sprain your ankle and not know how to heal it yourself?" Knight teased.
Lucy blinked up at him innocently. "You messaged me, so I figured you'd help."
Knight could only shake his head, speechless.
"Come on, let's go. I'll take you somewhere nice," Knight said with a grin.
Lucy shot him a suspicious look. "Last time you said that, it was just a boring meeting!"
"This time, I promise, it's real. We'll even stay in a mansion and have a big feast," Knight reassured her, leading her to the station.
Midway through, he reconsidered. Why let Lucy's family profit from the train fare? Instead, he stopped by a magic shop and bought a sleek magic two-wheeler.
Despite the shopkeeper offering a cheaper model for 600,000 J, Knight splurged on the top-of-the-line Obsidian Seventh Generation for 4.2 million J. Its sleek design and imported brand made it worth every penny.
Riding up to Lucy, he grinned. "Hop on."
"You have a license for this thing?"
"Of course!"
Still skeptical, Lucy climbed onto the bike. When Knight accelerated, she screamed, holding tightly onto him as they sped through the city.
"Knight, slow down!"
"Don't worry, I've got this!" Knight laughed, feeling the thrill of the ride.
After a few more near-brakes, Lucy realized their destination. Her eyes widened.
"Wait, isn't this...my home?!"
