Reeva backed off into a defensive position, his demi form tense and ready. He had to buy time—surely the commotion would bring other knights soon—but for now, it was just him, the priest, and Gurang, who was growing weaker by the second. The priest's focus was entirely on trying to heal Gurang, but the knife lodged near the knight's heart made it difficult, and the process was agonizingly slow.

Reeva's eyes darted between the broken door and the priest. He could see the struggle in the priest's face. The divine healing was powerful but slow, and with the knife still embedded in Gurang's chest, pulling it out risked more damage than it might save.
