Chapter six- Battle frenzy

Azaleigh looked at Zero as he professed Lordship over the forest with gleaming eyes, 'I knew I made the right choice to follow him.'

Zero saw her smiling and returned a smile then made a straight face, "So where can we find strays? I'd like to acquire new DNA. It's the only way to get stronger."

Azaleigh scratched her chin, "You can find strays everywhere in the forest."

Hearing this Zero's eyes sparkled briefly, "That's great... Also, I am going to need you to come with me. As of yet, I am still too weak to fight anything."

Azaleigh grinned, "That's more than okay, I am so happy I get to go with you." If she still had her tail it would be wagging energetically.

Zero laughed briefly then smiled, "Thanks then let's head out."

The two of them started moving out of the cave. They avoided the mind field of tails and limbs stepping in between the gaps to make sure they didn't wake the wolves up completely. Just by walking past them some of them opened their eyes to see what was happening. However, when they saw Azaleigh and Zero they shut them again.

Once the two of them were out of the cave they arrived outside to see a plain of land the stretched far out. Zero took a deep breath of the fresh air, stretched his arms out and then walked forwards. Azaleigh followed shortly as the two of them entered the big bad forest...

The two of them continued to walk as their bare feet trampled on the grass. Zero looked left and right as he proceeded deeper into the forest, "Take me to a place that we will be able to handle."

Azaleigh nodded their head and they moved forward, now at a faster pace than before. Because she knew the parameters of the search, she knew exactly where to take him. They continued to walk in the correct direction until they reached their desired destination. This was a place that was common for strays to inhabit because it had a surplus of the necessary living features close by. There was a river for water sixty meters away, there was no shortage of food as the vegetation grew in abundance in this area attracting all kinds of animals. It was truly the oasis of the forest.

Once Zero and Azaleigh arrived they were immediately spotted by the centaurs. The minotaurs were half bovine, half-human. They were tall bipedal creatures with human-like hands covered in black far. They had large tapering white horns on their foreheads and huge muscular bodies.

Zero gulped when he saw them. From appearance alone, he could tell that he was no match for them at all.

Azaleigh looked at the beasts and snorted, "Master allow me to show you my strength."

Zero crossed his arms, "I'll be watching... However, there is no need to kill them, they will be a part of my family anyways. Besides, I need them alive to attain to acquire their DNA."

Zero knew that the creature had to be alive to gain the DNA because last night he had touched the meat of a dead creature, yet he only had the silver wolf option unlocked this morning.

Azaleigh nodded her head then off she went charging at the four minotaurs in the centre. Seeing someone approach them, they quickly took up arms and held their halberds firmly. However, instead of being surprised by their appearance, the centaurs were smiling.

Zero found this to be strange, however, his suspicion came too late as in the next moment, three more centaurs appeared behind him. These minotaurs were dressed differently to the ones in front of him. They wore light armour instead of semi-heavy armour.

They were the scouts of the team. They had seen Zero and Azaleigh approach their oasis from a far distance away already. They told their leader that there were two humans on a direct course towards them. The leader then used this information and set up a pincer attack to effectively deal with the situation.

The sudden emergence of more enemies made Azaleigh holt in her tracks as she hastily returned to Zero's side. Protecting Zero was her highest priority. Azaleigh took a deep breath and took a look at the circumstances causing her to purse her lips "Master, I can't keep you safe and deal with them in the way you want. Restraint has never been my forte..."

Zero already assessed the situation. It was clear that these minotaurs weren't just trying to scare them, they wanted to kill them. Zero assumed that this wasn't the first time that someone had fell victim to their ambush. Every minotaur had a necklace and on their necklaces were skulls. The one standing in front of him and in the middle had 8 human skulls on his necklace, he was clearly the leader. The rest had 3-5 skulls on their necklaces.

Taking in all this information, Zero sterned his expression, "Don't hold back! Kill if you have to, you have my permission."

Azaleigh heaved a sigh of relief and smiled sadistically, "The hunted have now become the hunters!"

Azaleigh rushed at the minotaurs behind her first as they were closer to Zero than the other ones. When she was three meters away from them she activated her skill cloud step and in a blink of an eye, she was right in front of them. In the next moment, she activated wind scythe and cut off the hands of one of the minotaurs. Blood sprayed everywhere as the wails of the creature filled the forest, however, in the next moment, she cut off its head using her hand that was coated in wind, "Shut up! Your screams are annoying my master!" Her face contorted in an annoyed expression then she looked at the remaining two and smiled.

The remaining two were gripped by fear yet still took up arms as they gripped their halberds and pointed them at her. At the same time, the four centaurs on the other side rushed towards Zero.

Seeing that she had no time to spare, Azaleigh released the magic she had been preparing into a huge half-moon wind scythe that cut the two centaurs in half. Their lifeless bodies laid on the ground as the colour vanished from their eyes.

Now that the others had been eliminated, Azaleigh could focus all her attention on the ones in front. They were no longer running towards her. When they saw how quickly Azaleigh had dealt with the scouts they reevaluated their approach. Although the scouts were weaker than them as warriors, the fight shouldn't have been so one-sided. At least, they knew they couldn't take on the scouts by themselves not even the leader could do that.

The more they thought about how strong Azaleigh actually was, the stronger the grip of fear became on them. They started walking slower and slower until they came to a halt. They were on the verge of retreating, yet, their pride wouldn't allow it.

Azaleigh could smell the fear coming from them and revelled in it causing her to smile menacingly.

That smile was the tipping point for them. They shook their heads and dropped their weapons then ran in all directions. All they had in their minds was surviving and the highest probability of survival was to split up in three directions and hope she didn't come for you first.

Seeing this Azaleigh just laughed, "It's impossible to escape. You can't try to kill my master and think I'll let you live!"

She picked up the halberds on the ground and coated them with wind magic then threw them one for one in the direction of the escapees. Three of the weapons pierced the minotaurs directly in the head killing them immediately. The other one pierced the minotaur in the leg causing it to fall on the ground tumbling in the dirt.

Azaleigh sneered at the minotaur that was on the ground, " I told you, escape is impossible," She walked to the minotaur then dragged it back to where Zero was watching the event unfold
